Retrofit and Service in Norway integration and multidiscipline knowledge are our main focuses in training of our engineers and system development. We customise in all kinds of electrical/automation systems. Usually there are 4 main reasons that generates a : Reason 1: Changed range of use for the ship EXISTING Main Switchboard - MSB MAIN SWITCHBOARD - 440V/60Hz G1 G2 NEW SWITCHBOARD - 440V / 60Hz max 3820A New GENERATOR G 2328kW 3280A 3820 A Busbar link 2625A New GENERATOR G 2328kW 3820 A NEW Thruster Switchboard Busduct 440V/6,6kV STEP-UP TRANSF. 2600 kva 440V/6,6kV STEP-UP TRANSF. 2100 kva 6 x MCCB's max 250A Stena Spirit and Nordic modified for use as shuttletankers with dynamic position operation. Main reasons that generate (2) 2 - Expensive and not efficient operation caused by poor spare part supply Replacement of an old relay based alarm system to a modern automation system on IB Ymer and IB Atle 2 8
Main reasons that generate (3) - (4) 3 - Sudden damage (like fire, machinery breakdown etc) Installation of new bridge house systems after fire. Siemens delivered equipment and performed site management. 50days after the fire the ship were operative. 4 - s that don t comply with the design requirements Improved load control of the main engines on a Norwegian rescue vessel class. 3 8
What is? It is not only a product: Nor only a single system application: integration require process and interface knowledge. Some examples: Diesel controller and generator panel in MSB: In addition to speed control, serial interfaces digital and analogue signals must be interfaced. integration ensures several systems, or a complete plant, performing according to design Cargo control: Valve control, tanksounding, loading computer, pump control, power supply, starters etc 4 8
Quality Management and In order to reach our objective setting that all deliveries shall be according to customer requirements for quality and performance, improvements of the engineering process are continuously in focus. Some of the activities where this is the main focus are: - Quality Management (QMS). Among others, this system contains detailed procedures for use during the engineering process. The system is continuously improved. New or improved procedures are implemented by internal coaching. - Monthly internal reporting combined with meetings between project manager and department management. The objective settings are involvement in the ongoing project from the dept. management, communication between projects (synergy effects), follow up key figures, and guiding of the project manager. 5 8
competence for s Process knowledge combined with technical competence are the main reasons for many customers to give us interface responsibility and co-ordination tasks. Typical are interfaces that are not well defined in the design phase and involves product suppliers without engineering competence. - In addition, we are often requested to prepare the inquiry for the installation part of a project, followed by site management of the subsequent installation during the project. - In small projects the same engineer carries out project management, engineering and commissioning. This provides an efficient and good communication with the customer. - Solutions and methodology used in land based industry are adapted to marine applications. Normally, experience is obtained from the land based industry before use in marine applications. 6 8
