TARGET AUDIENCE This education activity is designed for physicians, family physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, dietitians and other health professionals with an interest in diabetes and related management issues. LEARNING OBJECTIVES At conclusion of this education activity, participants will be able to: Cite how recent data impacts the management of cardiovascular risk factors in diabetes. Discuss the impact of a patient s and provider s cultural background on diabetes care. Describe common eating disorders and how they affect diabetes management. Compare current safety, efficacy and costs of pharmacologic treatments for diabetes. Describe when, why and how to treat pre-diabetes. NOTE: ALL SESSIONS TO BE PROVIDED IN LECTURE FORMAT WITH AN OPPORTUNITY FOR QUESTION & ANSWER. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION STATEMENT Certificates of completion/attendance are provided to registered attendees based upon completion of the online evaluation that will be available at: http://professional.diabetes.org/adpu through October 14, 2011. NCBDE does not approve continuing education. The American Diabetes Association is on the NCBDE List of Approved Providers. ACCREDITATION STATEMENTS Physicians: The American Diabetes Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Diabetes Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Family Physicians: An application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
