40th ANNUAL CRITICAL CARE SYMPOSIUM MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2013 COLLABORATION The Greater Portland Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (GPC-AACN) and the Oregon Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (OSCCM) celebrate 23 years of successful collaboration in providing a multidisciplinary regional educational symposium. The conference is co-chaired by a GPC-AACN member and the OSCCM President. The planning process has fostered shared responsibility and mutual respect of its nurse and physician members. OSCCM has been instrumental in establishing the medical content of the symposium, assisting in identifying potential symposium faculty and offering speakers from within our ranks. The GPC-AACN provides the organizational structure and logistical support required to coordinate the conference. The symposium reflects true collaboration of our two organizations. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This two day symposium focuses on a wide variety of topics from the perspective of critical care. Concurrent sessions are offered, allowing participants to individualize their learning. EXHIBITS The latest in critical care products and services are displayed by numerous companies, hospitals and organizations. The exhibits provide an opportunity to closely examine the products and discuss their use with trained representatives on an individual basis. 7:00-8:00 REGISTRATION & CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST 8:00-8:10 8:10-8:20 8:20-8:30 8:30-9:30 Kimberly Kelly, BSN, RN, CCRN (Symposium Co-Chair) 2013 Symposium Co-Chair Welcome Tracey Loudon, MN, RN, CNS, CCNS, CCRN (GPC President) GPC Board Introductions and Awards Laura Vanderwerff, MD (OSCCM President and Symposium Co-Chair) OSCCM Board Introductions Beth Hammer, MSN, RN, APRN-BC (Former AACN President) Influencing Excellence 9:30-10:00 EXHIBIT HALL AND POSTER VIEWING Deborah Louis, RN, MSN, CCRN and David Schmidt, MD, PhD The Other Side of the Door: Post Intensive Care Syndrome Sharon Su, MD, FAAP Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Pediatrics: The Blueberry Spice Story 10:00-11:00 Arvin Gee, MD Geriatric Trauma: More Than Just Encounters With Gravity Beth Hammer, MSN, RN, APRN-BC (Former AACN President) Advanced Pacing Concepts 11:10-12:10 Robert Hendrickson, MD, FACEP, FAACT, FACMT Update on Drug Overdoses in the ICU 12:10-1:30 LUNCH PROVIDED- EXHIBIT HALL/ POSTER VIEWING 1:30-2:30 Daiwai Olson, PhD, RN, CCRN Lines & Tables & Bar Graphs Oh My!
