KENYA INSTITUTE OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT VACANCIES The Kenya Institute of Curriculum development wishes to recruit qualified professionals for various vacant positions as outlined below. 1. DEPUTY DIRECTOR, TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING (TVET) KICD SCALE 14, ONE (1) POST The Deputy Director TVET will be in charge of TVET Division and will report to Senior Deputy Director Curriculum and Research Services 1. Design systems, procedures and practices necessary for effective development in TVET areas; 2. Coordinate the development and evaluation of curriculum support materials; 3. Establish and maintain a databank on TVET Curriculum and curriculum support materials; and 4. Initiate and organize symposia, exhibitions, conferences, workshops and education days for purposes of sharing and disseminating in TVET curricula. b) Requirement for Appointment A Masters degree in Technical, Vocational or Entrepreneurship studies or related field from a recognized institution; Served as a Senior Assistant Director KICD scale 13 in TVET or in a relevant and comparable position for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in TVET or related areas; Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications

SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, RESEARCH MONITORING AND EVALUATION KICD 13 ONE (1) POST The Senior Assistant Director, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation will report to the Deputy Director Research, Monitoring and Evaluation. 1. Initiate and conduct effective curriculum research, monitoring and evaluation activities; 2. Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of curriculum implementation; 3. Prepare reports and disseminate research findings; 4. Participate in development and evaluation of curriculum support materials; and 5. Coordinate the activities of Research panels. b) Requirement for Appointment A Masters degree in Education with specialization in curriculum Development studies or a related field from a recognized institution; Served as Assistant Director KICD scale 12 or in a comparable and relevant position in curriculum development, Research or related area for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in Research or related areas; Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications. 3. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/TVET BUSINESS STUDIES KICD 12 ONE (1) POST The Assistant Director TVET will be in charge of Business studies and will report to the Deputy Director TVET. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Coordinate the development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials; 2. Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities; 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; and 4. Initiate research, monitoring and evaluation activities.

b) Requirement for Appointment A Masters degree with specialization in curriculum Development studies in Technical, Vocational or Entrepreneurship studies or a related field from a recognized institution; Served as a Chief Curriculum development officer KICD scale 11 in Technical, Vocational or Entrepreneurship studies or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in TVET or related areas; Initiative, team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications. 4. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/TECHNICAL SUBJECTS KICD 12 ONE (1) POST The Assistant Director Technical subjects will be in charge of Technical subjects in Basic Education and will report to Deputy Director Basic Education 1. Coordinate the development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials in Technical Subjects in Basic Education; 2. Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities; 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; and 4. Initiate research, monitoring and evaluation activities. b) Requirement for Appointment A Masters in Technical Education degree in either of the following drawing & Design, Aviation, Building Construction, wood work, Metal work, Electricity or power mechanics; Served as Chief Curriculum development officer KIE scale 11 or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years; Applicants with Diploma in Technical education will have an added advantage; Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in TVET or related areas; Initiative, team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications.

5. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES (SCIENCE) KICD 12 ONE (1) POST 1. Coordinate the design, development, production, dissemination and evaluation of relevant and quality educational resources; 2. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; 3. Provide in-service training on the design, development and production of educational resources to curriculum implementers; 4. Assist in the organization of symposia, exhibition, conferences, workshops and education days/ for purposes of sharing and disseminating experiences; 5. Assist in preparing and managing sectional work plans and budgets; and 6. Initiate research, monitoring and evaluation activities in the area of operation. b) Requirement for Appointment Masters Degree in Education(Sciences) either in Served at the level of Chief Curriculum Development officer KICD scale 11 or in a relevant and comparable position for at least three (3) years Demonstrated professional competence in educational resources development or related area Proficient in computer use and application Initiative, team player and highly motivated 6. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PROGRAMMING TV AND RADIO KICD 12 ONE (1) POST The Assistant Director programming TV and Radio will report to the Deputy Director Electronic Emerging Media. 1. Plan and schedule programming and event coverage; 2. Generate and research ideas for programmes and pitching for commission; 3. Monitor and review programming to ensure that schedules are met, guidelines are adhered to and performances are of adequate quality; 4. Evaluate new and existing programming to assess suitability and the need for changes; 5. Select, acquire and maintain programs, music, films and other needed materials and obtain legal clearances for their use as necessary;

6. Monitor network transmission for advisories concerning daily program schedules, program content, special feeds or program changes; 7. Operate and maintain on air and production audio equipment; 8. Develop promotions for current programs and specials; 9. Develop budgets for programming and broadcasting activities and monitor expenditure ; 10. Vet (preview/pre-listening) programmes before airing; 11. Prepare work plans, progress reports and performance reports; b) Requirement for Appointment (vi) (vii) (viii) (ix) (x) A Masters degree in Media Production or Communication, from a recognized Institution or equivalent and at least four (4) Years relevant work experience; OR Bachelors Degree in media studies/communication/ Information studies or Technology/Education with experience in media production or relevant field with at least six (6) years working experience as a Programming/Scheduling & Packaging/Acquisition officer Training in Media Production Ability to organize work, train and supervise staff; Avid and keen viewer/ listener; Wide knowledge of topical and social issues; Ability to make judgment on programme quality and appropriateness; Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications. 7. CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER KICD 11 one (1) post The chief procurement officer will report to the Assistant Director, Procurement services. Duties and responsibilities 1. Assist in developing and implementing consolidated procurement and disposal plans; 2. Prepare, publish and distribute procurement and disposal opportunities including invitation to tenders, pre-qualification documents and invitation for expression of interest in liaison with users; 3. Ensure compliance with regulations of procurement activities; 4. Conduct market surveys and avail information on pricing to assist in procurement of goods, services and works optimally;

5. Assist in the application of quality control in procurement functions; 6. Prepare for submission reports required under the public procurement and Disposal Act 2005 as per regulations and guidelines; and 7. Maintain optimum stock levels and coordinate periodic stock taking. b) Requirements For Appointment For appointment to the grade an officer must have: (vi) Bachelor s degree plus a post graduate diploma in supplies management or its equivalent from a recognized Institution; Served as Senior Procurement Officer KICD scale 10 or in a relevant and comparable position for a period of at least three (3) years Demonstrated professional competence in undertaking procurement work. Registered as a member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management or its equivalent. Proficient in computer use and application Initiative, team player and highly motivated 8. CHIEF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (TECHNICAL & ENGINEERING) TVET KICD 11 ONE (1) POST 1. Design, develop, produce, disseminate and evaluate relevant and quality curriculum in Technical and Engineering subjects; 2. Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities; and 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to the grade an officer must have: i. A Masters Degree in Education or related field from a recognized Institution; ii. Served as a Senior Curriculum Development Officer KICD 10 or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years; iii. Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development or related areas; iv. Be proficient in computer use and application; and v. Initiative, team player and highly motivated

9. ESTATES MANAGER KICD 11 ONE (1) POST The Estate Manager will report to Senior Assistant Director/ Administration 1. Manage infrastructure and utilities; 2. Ensure maintenance of buildings and other physical infrastructure within the Institute; 3. Initiate and maintain records of all the Institute s property; 4. Organize, Control and Co-ordinate activities in the section; 5. Custodian of documents of titles and lease agreements; 6. Supervise staff under him/her; 7. Advise on matters of property law; 8. Prepare work plans, progress reports and performance reports; 9. Prepare Proposals and Budgets; 10. Ensure payment of statutory rates on land and rents; 11. Ensure valuation of assets is carried out on regular basis; 12. Ensure payment of utility bills of all properties and sort out any issues arising there from; 13. Review schedules of dilapidations and building maintenance; 14. Review provision of contracted out services on building installations and equipment; 15. Be proficient in computer use and application; and 16. Initiative, team player and highly motivated. b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to the grade an applicant must have: A degree in civil engineering, property management, Building Economics or related field OR Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering Building Economics or related field Served as an estates manager KICD 10 or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years Have demonstrated professionalism in performance of duties in construction and maintenance of Estates; Proficiency in computer use and applications (vi) Initiative, team player and highly motivated

CHIEF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, RESEARCH MONITORING AND EVALUATION KICD SCALE 11 ONE (1)POST The Chief Curriculum Development Officer will report to Deputy Director Research Monitoring and Evaluation. 1. Initiate, Coordinate and conduct effective curriculum Research monitoring and evaluation; 2. Prepare Research reports; 3. Disseminate Research findings; and 4. Coordinate activities of Research panels. b) Requirements for Appointment A Masters degree in Education/ Mathematics/Economics or relevant field from a recognized Institution; served as Senior Curriculum development officer KIE Scale 10 in Research or related area for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated competence in undertaking Research; Initiative, team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications. 11. CHIEF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES (SCIENCES) KICD SCALE 11 ONE (1) POST 1. Design, develop, produce, disseminate and evaluate relevant and quality educational resources; 2. Assist in provision of in-service training on the design, development and production of educational resources to curriculum implementers; 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; and 4. Assist in the organization of symposia, exhibition, conferences, workshops and education days for purposes of sharing and disseminating experiences b) Requirements for appointment For appointment to the grade an applicant must have: Masters Degree in Education with specialization in sciences either in physics/chemistry/biology/mathematics Experience in Educational resource or related area

CHIEF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES (ARTS) KICD SCALE 11 ONE (1 POST) 1. Design, develop, produce, disseminate and evaluate relevant and quality educational resources; 2. Assist in provision of in-service training on the design, development and production of educational resources to curriculum implementers; 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; and 4. Assist in the organization of symposia, exhibition, conferences, workshops and education days for purposes of sharing and disseminating experiences b) Requirements for appointment For appointment to the grade an applicant must have: Masters Degree in Education Arts in either languages or humanities Experience in Educational resource or related area served as Senior Curriculum development officer KIE Scale 10 or in a relevant and comparable position for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated professional competence in educational resources development; Proficient in computer use and application; and (vi) Initiative, team player and highly motivated. 13. CDMS (TV) PRODUCER/DIRECTOR KICD SCALE 11 TWO (2 POST) The CDMS (TV) Producer/Director will report to the Deputy Director Electronic & Emerging Media. 1. Formulate the station goals, policies and procedures; 2. Coordinate production work for the Educational television channel; 3. Prepare annual work plan, budget and performance reports; 4. Liaise with the Programming manager on programs content and schedules; 5. Plan and supervise television production activities; 6. Liaise with producers, directors and technical teams on television productions; 7. Initiate program production partnerships and sponsorship;

8. Ensure compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in broadcasting; 9. Conduct, monitor and evaluate the educational channel productions; and 10. Induct and train staff. b) Requirements for appointment For appointment to this grade an applicant must have: i) A Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media Studies, Education, Broadcast Journalism from a recognized Institution; ii) Served as Senior Television producer KIE scale 10 or in a relevant and comparable position in a busy TV production environment at a supervisory level for at least three (3) years; iii) Knowledge in educational news gathering, reporting and presentation; iv) Advanced analytical skills; v) Excellent verbal and written communication skills; vi) vii) Ability to adhere to Strict deadlines and; Conversant with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards. 14. TV PRESENTER KICD SCALE 10 TWO (2 POST) The Television Presenter will be responsible to the Deputy Director Electronic and Emerging Media for programming of productions on EDU channel and advice on programmes acquisition. a) Duties and responsibilities 1. Organize all the essential support facilities for the TV production team; 2. resolve the day-to-day problems of filming and coordinate the other activities (e.g., camera, sound, editorial and music); 3. Supervise and schedule technical, freelance and temporary production staff and manage designated budgets. 4. Ensure effective use of staff and budget for all production activities; 5. Interpret and realize the Production vision, both financially and logistically. 6. Prepare production schedules or script breakdowns to confirm that sufficient time has been allocated for all aspects of the production process, and to verify Producers' budgets and schedules; 7. Monitor schedules and budgets throughout shoots, prepare daily report sheets for Producers, detailing all aspects of each day's shoot; 8. Prepare daily call sheets for actors and crew members; 9. Determine most efficient and cost effective execution of production design including staging and lighting environment for television productions; and

10. Direct technical production staff in set-up and operation of remote site production activities; maintains production standards and quality control. b) Requirements for the appointment A Bachelors degree in Communications/ Media studies/broadcast journalism, or related field from a recognized institution and three (3) years relevant working experience; Demonstrated professional competence in relevant area of broadcasting; Television Production training; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Conversant with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards; (vi) Ability to adhere to strict deadlines; (vii) Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated; and (viii) Proficiency in computer use and applications. 15. CHIEF STUDIO TECHNICAL OPERATOR, KICD SCALE 11 ONE (1) POST) a) Duties and responsibilities 1. Deputize the AD Radio & TV operations; 2. Supervise operations and utilization of facilities in Radio or television studios, electronic field production operations; 3. Ensure smooth operations of Studios, Outside Broadcasting vans, Electronic News Gathering and Electronic Field Production; and 4. Draw work plans, allocate duties, prepare yearly, quarterly and monthly reports, and operations of the staff, their safety and their training requirements. b) Requirements for the appointment For appointment to the grade an applicant must have: Bachelors degree in communication, film, television, radio, information sciences, social sciences, performing arts/music, electrical/electronic engineering, technology education, computer science or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution Served as a Deputy Chief Studio Technical Operator or in a relevant and comparable position for at least three (3) years Experience in operations of Radio/TV equipment/systems

Coordinate and develop relevant and quality curriculum support materials for CRE; 2. Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities;

3. Coordinate development and evaluation of curriculum support materials; 4. Initiate research, monitoring and evaluation activities in CRE area; and 5. Coordinate activities of CRE and course panels; b) Requirements for Appointment For appointments to this grade, an applicant must have: A Masters degree in education or relevant field from a recognized Institution; Served as Senior Curriculum Developer KICD 10 or in a relevant and comparable position for at least three (3) years; Demonstrated professional competence in CRE curriculum development or related areas; Initiative, team player and highly motivated; and Proficient in computer use and applications. 18. CHIEF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER/COMPUTER STUDIES KICD SCALE 11 ONE (1 POST) 1. Supervise the development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials in Computer studies; 2. Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities and; 3. Coordinate activities of subject and course panels. b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to the grade an applicant must have: A Masters Degree in Education/Computer Studies or related field from a recognized University/ Institution; Have served as a Senior Curriculum Development Officer or in a comparable position for at least three (3) years; Have demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development or related areas; Proficient in computer use and applications; and Initiative, team player and highly motivated.
