Natinal Qualificatins Framewrk Ofqual is the gvernment agency that regulates qualificatins, examinatins and assessments in England, and vcatinal qualificatins in Nrthern Ireland. The SCQF has mre levels than the NQF as it has brken dwn the levels f qualificatins much mre. http://www.scqf.rg.uk/scqf_cursesearch.aspx CIM Qualificatins Equivalence with the UK Framewrks (NQF and SCQF) and the Framewrk fr Higher Educatin (FHEQ) The table belw gives details f the NQF and SCQF levels with brad indicatins f the equivalent levels in the Framewrk fr Higher Educatin Qualificatins (FHEQ). This framewrk gives qualificatin descriptrs fr the main qualificatins at each level. The descriptrs fr hnurs, masters, and dctral degrees are equivalent acrss the UK. The Open University The Chartered Institute f Marketing submitted fur qualificatins (Syllabus 2008/9) fr independent credit rating by the Open University in 2010: Intrductry in Marketing Prfessinal in Marketing Prfessinal Diplma in Marketing Prfessinal Pstgraduate Diplma in Marketing The Open University assigns credit against the established higher educatin benchmarks agreed by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and the higher educatin credit cnsrtia (FHEQ) All awards fr new study are determined by academic experts within the particular field f study. Accunt is taken f the prgramme s bjectives, learning utcmes and assessment methdlgy. On this basis the Institute s qualificatins have been given the fllwing credits fr hlders f these frm July 2009 nwards. The FHEQ levels are mentined in the Framewrks diagram n page 4 f this dcument. One pint equates t ten hurs f study. Intrductry in Marketing: 12 credits, FHEQ Level 3 (each unit has 6 credits) Prfessinal in Marketing: 40 credits, FHEQ Level 4 (each unit has 10 credits) Prfessinal Diplma in Marketing: 60 credits, FHEQ Level 6 (each unit has 15 credits) Chartered Pstgraduate Diplma in Marketing: Stage 1: 60 credits at Pstgraduate Level 7 FHEQ Emerging Themes and Managing Crprate Reputatin each have 10 credits; Analysis and Decisin, and Marketing Leadership and Planning, each have 20 credits Stage 2: Leading Marketing: 60 credits at Pstgraduate Level 7 FEHQ The Chartered Pstgraduate Diplma in Marketing has 120 credits fr the tw stages. Eurpean Qualificatins Framewrk (EQF) The Eurpean Unin decided as part f its dedicatin t lifelng learning fr citizens in the cuntries f the Eurpean Unin (EU), t establish a framewrk the Eurpean Qualificatins Framewrk (EQF) that will act as a cmmn denminatr fr the different Eurpean educatin systems, and will thus allw EU citizens t carry their learning acrss bundaries and cmbine qualificatins frm different cuntries within the EU. This prpsal respnds t the plitical mandate described abve and its emphasis n lifelng learning. The main purpse f the EQF is t act as a translatin device and neutral
reference pint fr cmparing qualificatins acrss different educatin and training systems and t strengthen c-peratin and mutual trust between the relevant stakehlders. This will increase transparency, facilitate the transfer and use f qualificatins acrss different educatin and training systems and levels. Qute frm Prpsal n the establishment f the Eurpean Qualificatins Framewrk fr lifelng learning (presented by the Cmmissin f the Eurpean Cmmunities: Brussels 5.9.2006) The varius framewrks within the UK have been crdinating with each ther t establish definitive equivalencies between the levels f the UK framewrks and the Eurpean Qualificatins Framewrk. A reprt has been issued this year by the Natinal Crdinatin Pints (a grup that cmprises members f the different framewrks). The cnclusins f the reprt stated that the NCP has established clear links between the UK framewrks and the level descriptrs used in the EQF. The Eurpean Marketing Cnfederatin (EMC) The Eurpean Marketing Cnfederatin is the umbrella rganisatin fr marketing, sales, and cmmunicatin assciatins in Eurpe. Its missin is the prmtin and the develpment f marketing as the fundamental business prcess leading t ecnmic grwth and prsperity and the imprvement f the cmpetitive psitin f Eurpe's trade, industry and cmmerce. The aim f the rganisatin is t prmte the vice f the marketing prfessin within Eurpe and the functin f marketing as a vital element in business. The framewrk aims t analyse and cmpare marketing rles, activities, skills, and awards in Eurpe. The EMCQ certificate includes an academic level and links the qualificatin t marketing jbs/rles in the industry. This framewrk is clsely based n the principles f the EQF system (see sectin fur abve).

Eurpean Credits and Transfer System (ECTS) The Eurpean Credit and Transfer System (ECTS) is a system that deals with degrees awarded by higher educatin in Eurpean cuntries. The ECTS system aims t make teaching and learning in higher educatin mre transparent acrss Eurpe and facilitates the recgnitin f degree studies. It allws fr the transfer f learning experiences between different institutins, student mbility, and flexibility in gaining qualificatins. Tw UK higher educatin credits equate t ne ECTS credit.
