Concept BARC BI Congress will be held on 18 and 19 November 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany. The goal is to host a congress that sheds new light on the topic of BI from a user standpoint. Similar to TDWI, we want to provide an environment so that prospective and current users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland can exchange experiences and learn more about BI. While the TDWI Congress with BARC track primarily focuses on data management, the BI Congress will have stronger focus on business-related themes. Attendees will learn more about the latest developments in BI software and BI services. In software demos, case studies, usage scenarios and analyst keynotes, they can delve into all topics LIVE in three parallel tracks per day. In the accompanying exhibition area, visitors can also meet one on one with fellow users, leading software vendors, services providers, market analysts and other BI specialists. This setup is designed so that users can get answers to all of their questions regarding BI. Seminars prior to and following the event round out the agenda. Highlights: Organization of an attractive stage program in coordination with the participating software vendors and service providers Keynotes and presentations on topics such as self-service BI, information design, data governance, BI organization, benefits of and expenditure on BI, big data, planning tools and performance management, by leading international BI visionaries such as Dr. Carsten Bange of BARC BI case studies of renowned German companies Attractive evening program featuring the Best Practice Award BI 2014 ceremony in the categories SMB and Large enterprise PAC Service Provider Track @ BI Congress The PAC Service Provider Track on 19 November is dedicated to BI-related services, such as consulting and systems integration. Next to the market trends in BI services as well as customer requirements, visitors will learn about the services that are offered and whether these services actually meet the customers needs. In addition, visitors will receive guidelines for provider selection and evaluation. To support this selection process, PAC will introduce its BI Services RADAR created in cooperation with BARC. Another topic will be BI consultants daily rates. The analyst presentations will be accompanied by practical use cases: Customers and/or BI services providers will demonstrate concrete projects.
BI services provider use cases The focus of the provider presentations shall be on the business value of executed projects. If possible, the customer should actively join their provider s presentation. If only the provider presents the case, they should be entitled to specify the respective customer s name and project details. Requirements for the presentation contents: Short description of project & objectives Business value for the line of business/ enterprise Approach in implementation: implementation model/ procedure (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban etc.), reasons for the respective choice of implementation model, experiences in actual implementation Achievement of objectives with regard to project requirements, timeline and budget How did the knowledge transfer from the service provider to the customer take place? Involvement of IT department, lines of business, and, if applicable, of a BI competence center (BICC) Success factors for the respective project Obstacles and how they were overcome Lessons learned Target group exhibitors Vendors and service providers of all sizes in the fields of Business Intelligence, planning, analysis, reporting and consolidation may participate as exhibitors at the BARC BI Congress. The objective is to provide the broadest possible overview of the various solutions and companies on the market. Target group attendees BARC BI Congress is targeted to individuals who are interested in leading more about Business Intelligence. In particular, we are trying to address an audience of business users who work with information systems that support decision-making. In addition to BI and other decision-makers, this target group includes BI project team members in financial controlling, sales, marketing, production, logistics and purchasing.
In the past, our prime targets were people involved in the software selection process. In addition to showing software in comparison, this new event focus is designed to give participants information on current trends as well as ample time for networking. These tracks will be enhanced with comprehensive analyst tracks and a day with user presentations leading up to the Best Practice Award as well as for the first time with service provider use cases. Approval / Contract The contract between the Organizer and the exhibitor becomes effective with the written notification of the Organizer about the eligibility of the exhibitor. If application contents and approval contents differ, the contract will be binding in accordance with the approval unless the exhibitor verbally notifies the Organizer immediately and in addition in writing within two weeks upon receipt of the approval notice. The same applies if the event needs to be rescheduled and / or moved to a different location; in which case the Organizer s approval is replaced with the corresponding change statement of the Organizer. The validity of the admission applies only for the respective event and the registered company. 4. Allocation of Stand Space Based on the participant s reported stand sizes, the Organizer allocates the space for the stand. There is no entitlement of stand space in a given exhibition area. In addition, the Organizer will not be responsible for the Quality of a stand space (Notability of the stand and it s perception to the visitors). The stall size varies depending on the selected package. It should be considered that hall pillars and other fixed installation could be present in the rented stand area. In some cases and for essential reasons, the Organizer reserves the right to deviate from the approved floor space, to change the dimensions and size of the space, to relocate or close entrances and exits, to make building modifications in the exhibition rooms, without the exhibitor being able to derive any rights. However in the event of a reduction of stand size the exhibitor will receive a refund of the difference in the participation fee. Exhibitor s objections regarding the stand space must be made promptly and in writing during the duration of the event. Subsequent objections cannot be considered. The exhibition stands are to be erected and dismantled within the given deadlines. Throughout the duration of the exhibition the stands must exhibit goods and be attended by personnel. The Organizer may arrange the removal of exhibits if they cause a considerable disturbance to the operation of the conference or are a safety hazard to visitors or exhibitors through odor, noise, emissions or appearance. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to compensate for damages caused by exhibits and therefore releases the Organizer from third party claims. If cancellation is received within eight weeks before the start of the conference, the exhibitor will be refunded 25% of the stand rental. In all other cases, the stand rental is to be paid in full. Exhibitors who do not occupy their rented stand are nevertheless obliged to bring it into a moderate exhibition condition. The registration documents list all prices in detail. Upon registration and approval the exhibitor will receive an invoice for the participation fee and other costs. The invoice must be paid in full to the Organizer no later than two weeks after invoice date. In the case of non-payment within this period, the Organizer has the right to terminate the contract with the exhibitor with immediate effect. The distribution of promotional materials outside the exhibitor s rented stand area is prohibited. Advertising that violates the law or good morals as well as those of ideological or political nature and promotional materials contrary to the conference purpose are not permitted anywhere within exhibition grounds. The Organizer determines whether advertising materials are to be critiqued on the basis of these criteria under the exclusion of law. Valuable, easily removable items must be locked up at night time. For additional Stand surveillance and at his own expense, the exhibitor must use the Organizer s security company. Damage or loss is not part of the Organizer s liability. This does not affect the liability due to willful or grossly negligent misconduct. This liability is not affected by restrictions with any security measures of the Organizer. The exhibitor cannot derive any rights or claims for damages against the Organizer if the Organizer is compelled by force majeure or other unforeseeable reasons to vacate the exhibition area or part thereof, temporarily or permanently, in order to postpone, shorten or extend the event. The exhibitor is obliged to compensate the Organizer for any damage inflicted by the exhibitor, exhibitor personnel, and employees of stand contractors appointed by the exhibitor or other third parties that are working for the exhibitor in the exhibition area.
