Position Description Title: Business Development Associate Position Number: 1075 Division, Unit, Location: International Operations, Growth and Emerging Markets, Sao Paulo Level: Austrade Overseas Performance Level (AOPL) 3 Term: Ongoing Reporting to: Senior Trade Commissioner, Sao Paulo 80% of the position is responsible to the Post Manager for the provision of market entry and marketing advisory services to Austrade and its clients. 20% is responsible for the provision of business practice expertise to the team in general. Role: Business Development Associate Duties: Broad Functions Under the direct supervision of the Post Manager, work predominately on assisting Exporter clients to enter the Brazil market in order to assist in achieving the post s KPI targets. Duties and Responsibilities As directed by the Post Manager and/or in collaboration with Business Development Managers: Proactively contribute to the development of new customer contacts / networks in existing and new market segments and deliver quality opportunities to exporters, with a particular emphasis on the health and medical sector Prepare short profiles, rapid advice reports and/or larger research reports on the market potential for Australian products in Brazil based on analysis of in-market interviews and other forms of primary and secondary market research and statistical data Arrange appointments and visit programs for visiting Australian business people Participate and assist in the execution of post marketing initiatives, including buyer missions, video conferencing, mini-showcases and/or virtual trade fairs Other duties as directed Actively apply Austrade business practices and maintain accuracy of information in all Austrade Business Systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and effective relationship management Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade, by adopting information practices, sharing knowledge and information and by embracing best practice and development opportunities Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieve desired outcomes, while upholding the Australian Public Service Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct and Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles Page 2 of 6

Performance Measurement The performance of the duties of the position will be assessed through a Performance Agreement between the employee and the Post Manager. Well-developed project management skills, involvement in trade exhibitions or seminars, product launches, or other similar events would be an advantage. 6. Demonstrated excellence in communication skills (written and verbal). Experience in developing customer databases, contacts or networks and/or cold calling would be an advantage. 7. Demonstrated capabilities with the full Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Exposure and experience with client contact/management systems would be an advantage. Employment Terms General Information This is a locally-engaged position governed by Austrade s Overseas Engaged Employees terms and conditions and Brazilian labour law. Ongoing employment with Austrade will be offered for this position. Salary This position is at Austrade Overseas Performance Level (AOPL) 3. APOL3 Commencement salary is $ 92,273 BRL gross per annum. Salary advancement to APOL3 Standard Salary level ($ 97,129 REL gross per annum) can be approved after six months of service, subject to a positive performance appraisal. Mandatory Requirements: Education/experience: - A tertiary degree in commerce, business, law or a related discipline (or equivalent sales and marketing experience). - Minimum of 3 years marketing, promotional or business development experience. Language Proficiency: - Applicants must be fluent both in written and spoken English and Portuguese. Shortlisted applicants may be first tested by telephone prior to Austrade committing to interview.
