Keynote Address - Justin Clark Celebrating Life's Changes The OFCP is thrilled to have Justin Clark deliver our keynote address: Celebrating Life s Changes. Justin will speak about his experience of having people come and go in his life. Justin continues to celebrate and honour the special people who have been such a tremendous part of his life. Justin will share his personal story of what it was like to feel like the rug had been pulled out from under him. After struggling with feeling like he had very little control over what was happening around him, Justin learned that life goes on and you have to celebrate the little things. Justin will speak briefly about who he is, including his time living in an institution and the court case he brought forward to gain the right to make his own decisions. Justin will share his thoughts on how all of these themes specifically affect people who have cerebral palsy and those who use alternative methods to communicate. ReVeAL Dance Creation The OFCP is proud to present a special performance by ReVeAL Dance Creation. ReVeAL Dance Creation is an integrated dance and performance based collective, co-founded in 2009 by Heryka Miranda and Eunji Kim, together with advisor and mentor Rebecca Beayni. They perform to share meaningful stories of relationships and to demonstrate the power, strength, wisdom and beauty of ones own unique vulnerabilities and their endless possibilities. Chaid McFarlane and Brendon Myrie, ReVeAL Dance Creation alumni and students of Downsview Secondary School, will perform a joyous piece inspired by their daily routine, Jamaica, and ocean waves. Members of ReVeAL open the audience's eyes to the possibilities of artistic expression and collaboration, hoping to change the world into a more compassionate place where all gifts are recognized and welcomed. Teaching Awareness through Puppetry The OFCP is proud to present Teaching Awareness through Puppetry, an educational scripted puppet show! Teaching Awareness through Puppetry hopes to help people become more aware of the challenges, myths and misconceptions that people with disabilities and medical conditions face on a daily basis. The program reflects the diversity of our communities. With funding from the OFCP, Teaching Awareness Through Puppetry has developed a script and puppets centered around understanding cerebral palsy. A message of inclusion and acceptance is brought to kids all over Toronto and the GTA, helping to increase awareness and inclusion of people with cerebral palsy.

Weaving Dreams - Success stories Shira Weinstein Shira is a lifelong Individual Member of the OFCP and will share with us how she has benefited from this membership. She will talk about how six years ago she made a phone call.by accident.to the OFCP and what impact this call has made on her life. Three years ago Shira was extremely proud to be OFCP s ambassador for the Bloorview Transition Conference and 2 years ago she performed at OFCP s 62nd Annual Conference Opening. She will talk about her experience as a current student at the Royal Conservatory of Music one of the largest and most respected music education institutions in the world. Sarah Evans Sarah is a young woman with cerebral palsy who, after having lived independently for several years, found herself in hospital and then in a group home setting. Sarah will speak about how she came to the decision that it was time to live independently again - for good. With the help of her support network Sarah was able to advocate for herself and found supported housing with the help of the OFCP. Sarah is currently attending Humber College in the social service worker program. Sarah hopes that with her regained independence and college education she will be able to help others in the community. North Yorkers for Disabled Persons This presentation will focus on the Communication Enrichment Program, which is housed at North Yorkers for Disabled Persons. The group members of Communication Enrichment will share their story of coming together to create and maintain this opportunity to learn, support and share with one another. The curriculum of the program is determined by the group and the focus can be on everything from personal safety, enhancing literacy skills, self advocacy, financial management, health, dramatic arts or writing poetry. CNIB Partners Program The CNIB Library Partners Program allows Ontarians with print disabilities to access literature like never before. The Program is available to Ontario residents who have difficulty reading conventional print due to visual, physical or learning disabilities. Any Ontarian with a print disability can register for free! The program offers access READING. REIMAGINED! print alternatives at your library to over 80,000 titles, and 35,000 online resources through the CNIB digital library. The CNIB's Emily Tufts will provide more information and answer audience questions on this new and exciting program.

Panel Discussion: What does it mean to have cerebral palsy in today s world? The 2011 OFCP Annual Conference features a panel discussion with leaders who represent the diversity of perspectives that people with cerebral palsy have. They will discuss the progress we have made in areas such as inclusion, participation and human rights and the challenges all people with disabilities still face today. Our panelists will respond to a number of prepared questions from mediator Sue Ellis and will also answer audience questions and comments. Come and make your voice heard! Doug and Darlene Faulkner After four years of courtship Doug and Darlene Faulkner were wed in 2009 in the presence of close family and friends. Both Doug and Darlene are actively involved in community life and are leading members of their church. As a lay preacher, Doug brings his unique experiences and steadfast faith to a wide range of people, helping to raise the profile of people with cerebral palsy within his community. Doug has found this new role both challenging and empowering. Through his hard work networking with community leaders Doug has been asked to be a guest preacher by other churches in the Toronto area. Doug and Darlene support each other and show that interdependence and community building are keys to success.
