Course Program DAY CLUSTER UNITS OF COMPETENCY Pre-Course Learning Min 6-8 Weeks Prior ` ` HLTAP401B Confirm physical health status pre-reading and assessment activities prior to attending ` ` Pre-reading required for all clusters prior to attending the replicated workplace environment Course Structure The HLT41012 Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) is delivered by qualified St John paramedics as an interactive ten day program, which goes beyond the usual theory delivery in a classroom and instead gives students the opportunity to learn in a replicated work environment. Students will become virtual employees and will be learning within a replicated Industrial Emergency Medic environment, with simulated drills, exercises and industry specific scenarios. The interactive and hands-on nature of the course will ensure that students are well prepared to deliver medical aid when back in their own workplace settings. The course is also setup in modules, meaning that students can complete in a timeframe that suits them and their employer. Due to the practical nature of the face to face replicated work environment, the majority of the theory is delivered electronically via St John s online pre-learning portal. Enrolment should be a minimum of six weeks prior to attending the virtual workplace as there is a requirement to complete the essential pre-learning and assessment during this time. The HLT41012 Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) is delivered by qualified St John paramedics as an interactive ten day program, which goes beyond the usual theory delivery. Recognition of Prior Learning VET Credit Transfer is a transfer of already completed units of competency to the current qualification, while Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment of gained skills and knowledge. For guidance and assistance with your RPL application, please contact the Industrial Training Coordinator on (08) 9334 1480 during office hours. A transfer fee equal to 25% of the course fee will apply to transfer your booking between 10 and 14 working days prior to course commencement. CANCELLATIONS A seven day cooling off period applies if a student wishes to withdraw from the course, once confirmation and payment has been processed. If the student wishes to withdraw within the cooling off period they must notify St John Ambulance WA in writing. For cancellations after the cooling off period, a full refund will be made if written advice is received a minimum of 15 working days prior to commencement. A 75% refund will be made for cancellations received in writing between 10 and 14 working days prior to course commencement. It is regrettable that no refund can be made for cancellations received less than nine working days prior to course commencement. This cancellation fee is inclusive of GST. To transfer your booking less than nine working days prior to commencement a transfer fee equal to 100% of the course fee will apply. This transfer fee is inclusive of GST. Entry Requirements There are no academic pre-requisites for this course This may include the ability to write reports, calculate but students are required to have the following: medications, read detailed protocols and research and make recommendations for improvement. COMMUNICATION You are required to speak and write English and possess PHYSICAL CAPACITY developed literacy and numeracy skills. WITHDRAWALS If you are wishing to withdraw from your enrolled program, a unit of competency or module, you must notify St John Ambulance WA in writing. Fees may be associated with withdrawing from a unit, module or program. PRIVACY AND ACCESS TO PARTICIPANT RECORDS St John Ambulance WA respects your privacy. Personal information provided to us will be used for the purposes of AVETMISS, general student administration, identification, communication, mandatory state and national reporting, program monitoring, evaluation and surveys. We may also provide records of your certification to your employer where they have paid for the course, if requested to do so. Your personal information will not be used for any purpose outside the Privacy Act guidelines. Frequently Asked Questions CAN I WORK AS AN INDUSTRIAL MEDIC? Upon completion of our nationally recognised training program, HLT41012 Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance), you will have a nationally recognised qualification that may assist you in meeting the requirements for employment as an Industrial Medic. WHAT ARE THE COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS? Students must demonstrate developed English literacy and numeracy skills. You are required to complete your course within 12 months from commencement. Our course is designed to allow you to work at a pace that you find comfortable. This is known as Self-Paced Learning. What is important is that you set a study plan to work to. Students whose courses are funded by other agencies or their employer will need to be aware of specific guidelines set by their sponsor.
