FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS mobile unified communications client and docking station What are the target customer characteristics of a Mobile UC subscriber? + Verizon Wireless as mobile carrier. Mobile UC is a Verizon branded client. + Cisco (6.1.4+) or Avaya (5.2+) IP PBX. + Android OS certified as a supported platform by the enterprise, 2.2 and above. + Enterprise and Government customer desiring FMC integration of premise based or hosted call manager IP platforms, deployed or in process, opportunity to add new desk phone hardware (new office, branch offices, greenfield accounts, low cost desktop replacement). + Mobile workforce requiring integration and access to enterprise and desire to retain single business identity in and out of the office. + U.S. Enterprise with International calls originating from mobile device in U.S. Mobile UC presents an opportunity for significant cost savings on International calling for heavy international calling mobile users. Will Mobile UC client work on any smartphone? Phase 1 Mobile UC client is compatible with a select group of Android OS devices only. Evaluation and discussions are underway with RIM and Apple for similar solution although no firm launch dates have been confirmed. What mobile devices is Mobile UC compatible with? See compatible devices at launch, and those planned within 30-90 days from launch (link as device list is fluid). Expected for launch (9/30/2011): Droid X Droid X2 Droid 2 Global Droid 2 Droid Pro Can I receive a mobile call (calling party dialed my mobile number) when I am docked? All mobile calls will be received as business calls when docked. Users cannot place mobile calls while docked. All outgoing calls while docked are placed as business calls. When your device successfully registers with the docking station it notifies the Verizon Wireless network to turn Call Forwarding on for the mobile number so all calls to the mobile device number are forwarded to the enterprise number. When you undock, call forwarding is then turned off on your VzW MDN.

What caller ID is displayed when I make a call from my mobile device? While in Enterprise identity mode, the caller ID that the PBX administrator has set up for you is what will be displayed to the called party whether your are docked or undocked. When in Mobile identity the VzW MDN will display on outbound calls. When docked, can I access data applications on my mobile device? Yes. With Mobile UC, all 3rd party mobile applications available through the Launch App on Mobile UC home screen will continue to be supported. These applications will access data through a wireless network (either VZW wireless network or Wi-Fi) and not through the wireline connection. Mobile UC does not support voice over Wi-Fi. How are 911 calls handled when docked, and how are they handled undocked? + Docked 911 calls are handled by the Enterprise PBX policies. + Undocked 911 calls from a VzW mobile device are handled business as usual. You can only dial 911 from the mobile mode when undocked; 911 from the business mode is blocked when undocked. What SIP based IP-PBX platforms are compatible with Mobile UC solution? Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.1.4 and above, 7.1.5 and above and 8.0 and above, with the following features enabled, and configured: Mobile Connect Mobile Voice Access Enterprise Feature Access with Two-Stage Dialing Simultaneous ring Avaya Communication Manager 5.2 Support EC500 (Extension to Cellular) feature. Requires software licenses. Platform to support SIP devices (SIP Enablement Server required to provide SIP services) Mobile UC is a SIP device. DHCP Services to support option 224 (voice VLAN assignment).

Does the Enterprise have to purchase any additional servers to deploy Mobile UC? No additional hardware within voice infrastructure are required to deploy. Deployment is comprised of four components: Having compatible PBX infrastructure up and running. PBX Administrator creating a configuration file for each Mobile UC subscriber and distributing with instructions. Individual subscriber accounts (CLEU and ELEU) acquiring Mobile UC client from Verizon V CAST storefront and agree to a $7.00 monthly subscription. Purchasing the Mobile UC docking station from Verizon Media Store. What are the basic PBX features supported by Mobile UC? + Answer/Dial + Mute + Call Hold/Consultation Hold + Call Forwarding/3 Way Conference + Blind Call Transfer/Consult Call Transfer + Extension Dialing [short code/abbreviated dialing (4-9)] + Do Not Disturb (DND) + Simultaneous Ring + Call Waiting + Shared Call Appearance with multiple line support (3) + Least Cost Routing for International Calling How are docked and undocked outbound calls charged when Mobile UC client is in use and in business identity mode? + Undocked outbound calls will consume mobile minutes per voice rate plan although 1 st leg called number is the Enterprise access number (PBX number). 2 nd stage of call connected through PBX traffic is billed by the PBX at applicable PBX rate plans. + Docked calls do not consume mobile minutes as all outbound calls are wireline calls and charged according to PBX/wireline rate plans.

How does an Enterprise benefit from Least Cost Routing with Mobile UC? LCR financial benefits include: Calls to International Landlines Mobile UC users in the U.S. can reduce billable international minutes when calling international intracompany landlines because the calls will be considered on-net with VZ VoIP s VIPER feature. Additionally landline rates, which are lower than mobile rates, will apply to off-net calls. Calls to International Mobile Numbers Mobile UC users in the U.S. can reduce billable international minutes when calling international intracompany mobile numbers because the calls will be considered on-net with VZ VoIP s VIPER feature. Additionally landline rates, which are lower than mobile rates, will apply to off-net calls. Calls to Domestic Numbers Mobile UC users in the U.S. can reduce airtime minutes and place toll and domestic long distance calls at landline rates when using the docking station. Additionally, they can reduce domestic toll and LD when calling, or being called by, domestic intracompany landline or mobile users because the calls will be considered on-net with VZ VoIP. Intracompany Calls to Domestic Mobile Users Domestic intracompany users calling Mobile UC users DID (and the Mobile UC user is undocked) can reduce toll and long distance charges because the calls will be considered on-net with VZ VoIP (because they called the Enterprise DID which would be an on-net call), instead of a switched interstate or intrastate long distance (if they were to call the Mobile UC mobile telephone number directly). The PBX utilizing Simultaneous Ring feature will ring the remote Mobile UC user if the Mobile UC is not docked, and that is an outbound (inter/intralata/or Intl) billable call from the PBX incurring MOU s (off-net outbound call) to the Enterprise.

How does the Mobile UC Integrated Dialer work for docked and undocked calls? Mobile UC Integrated Dialer provides a universal dialing user interface to mimic a native dialing experience, similar to the native/factor dialer provided by the mobile device, for the Android user to place and receive business and personal calls. When the mobile device is docked and functioning as an Enterprise deskphone, it can fully utilize the smart cradle s Ethernet interface to access feature-rich VoIP-based voice services via customer s enterprise IP PBX. To access PBX features, it provides menu access for most common PBX features, such as Call Hold, Call Transfer, Conferencing, etc. Depending on the calling mode (mobile or enterprise) and docking state (docked or undocked) of the user, it selects the appropriate signal path, which is transparent to the user, to deliver the feature. Mobile UC Integrated Dialer consists of four components: Universal Dialing User Interface A universal interface to assist the user to complete calls on various call scenarios. Mobile Factory Dialer A native dialer similar to the one provided by device manufacture and used as the default dialer for cellular network voice services. Transparent Two-Stage Dialer A single-number native dialer that bypasses the required two-stage dialing process and allows the mobile user to access Enterprise PBX features when mobile user is in the undocked state and using the cellular network as the primary access method for voice services. In a two-stage dialing process, to access Enterprise PBX, the mobile user (the calling party) needs to first dial the Enterprise Access Number, get authenticated, and wait for the dial tone provided by Enterprise PBX, then submit the 2 nd set of digits for called party to complete the call. Right after receiving the 2 nd set of digits from the mobile user, Enterprise PBX will suspend the 1 st call leg from mobile user and use the 2 nd set of digits to call the called party. Once called party answers, PBX bridges and completes the call. The transparent two-stage dialer maintains the single number dialing experience and eliminates the need for user to first dial the Enterprise Access Number before entering the called party number to complete the call. VoIP Dialer A SIP-compliant dialer allows Android to function and behave as an enterprise deskphone when mobile device is in the docked state, and use Enterprise campus infrastructure as the primary access method for their voice services. It accesses Enterprise voice services via the cradle s built-in Ethernet interface. The calling party can enter called party number either via standard dial pad from the cradle or touch screen from Droid, and access enterprise PBX features similar to a standard enterprise deskphone.

Docking station: Are there any specific ports that the enterprise needs to allow through their security devices (Firewall, IDS s, etc.) to allow communication between the docking station/mobile UC client with the PBX? The endpoints and ports that the Mobile UC client accesses are the following: PBX the port where the Mobile UC client connects to the PBX using SIP protocol (over UDP or TCP). The port can be changed on the PBX side, but is usually 5060 (for both UDP and TCP). This port is configurable on configuration file of the Mobile UC client. LDAP port 389 (TCP). This is access to the Active Directory to validate the username and password provided by the user. TFTP port 69 (UDP). This is the access to the TFTP server (the IP can be provided by either DHCP option 66 or set in the configuration file itself). Other ports other ports can be used in the SIP and media communication with the PBX or other SIP phones. With PBX: The SIP protocol allows for the PBX to direct subsequent traffic in a SIP dialog to another location/port via the mechanism of Contact, via and Route headers. These ports are dynamic and unknown from client standpoint initially; they are communicated via the SIP protocol. With other SIP phones: Whether the Mobile UC client will communicate directly with the other SIP phone during a VoIP call depends on the PBX configuration and whether it acts as a proxy for the SIP and media traffic. Each VoIP call uses using dynamic ports with each SIP endpoint (or the PBX if the PBX acts a media proxy) for media and potentially SIP traffic. These ports are dynamic and unknown from client standpoint initially; they are communicated via the SIP protocol. Are the Ethernet ports in the back of the docking station unit enabled or disabled by default? If a docking station is used at a desk can a laptop/pc be plugged into it and gain access to the network? Does each port in the docking station support VLAN tagging? They are ENABLED and it is configurable. + YES. + YES, it supports 802.1q tagging. Will there ever be a need to do a firmware upgrade to the software in the docking station? If so, under what conditions? Will the upgrade need to be done manually one by one? Maintenance, Bugs fixed, or Enhancement. No, it will not have to be done manually one unit at a time. Updates can be achieved using the TFTP process.

Giving that we don t shut down the EVDO radio in the smartphones how do we prevent potential access to the enterprise network via the open Data connection of the phone? The protocol used between the Mobile UC client and the docking station uses proprietary communication protocol that is verified by a specific communication software agent that is operating in the docking station. The access granted to the enterprise network is limited to the PBX and LDAP (if used) only. In addition, Android provides no inherent capability to bridge any network connections within the device. Explain the Mobile UC enablement process for the enterprise? + Mobile UC client available through V CAST storefront. Monthly subscription available to CLEU and ELEU, billed on VzW bill. CLEU If V CAST Application block is on at individual subscriber level, Enterprise POC must remove block to allow download of Mobile UC application. + Docking station is available through the VzW Media Store and shipped directly from Distribution Centers. The docking station will not be inventoried at retail channels. + Upon acceptance of the subscription service at download, a $7.00 monthly Mobile UC App subscription charge will appear monthly on VzW bill under Usage Charges Data. End User enablement process: Enterprise IT obtains (EIT) Mobile UC Configuration Tool from VzW. EIT Admin creates Mobile UC Configuration file; specific to each end user subscribers PBX identity. EIT Admin distributes Configuration file via email or TFTP to the target user. Target user receives email from EIT Admin with detailed instructions to save configuration file to device and download Mobile UC app, or instructions on how to retrieve from TFTP from the docking station. End user downloads App from the V CAST storefront on the compatible Android smartphone, accepting T and C s. No contract is required. + If a docking station was ordered from the Verizon Media store, the target user can proceed to install it. Dock the Android phone with the Mobile UC application loaded on the device to retrieve the configuration file from the TFTP server. The Mobile UC client is acquired from V CAST Apps marketplace. What if V CAST apps is not on my Android device, and I do have a compatible Mobile UC device? Most Android devices will have V CAST Apps on the System Tray also known as the All Apps view. A few devices will appear on the home screen. If V CAST Apps does not appear, VzW representatives can SMS the customer the Smart URL (http://mobile.vzw.com/vcastapps). Note: This URL is case sensitive. When the customer selects this URL, it will detect the device type automatically and download the correct version for that device. For Android users only: Upon installation, the device will ask for permission changes. Allowing V CAST Apps as a trusted source will ensure a better experience.

Is the docking station optional? Yes. Mobile UC subscribers may never be in the office, and would not need a desk phone replacement connected directly to PBX. They may be remote all the time and opt to use Mobile UC client in the undocked mode to maintain the business number and business identity when making business calls. Is the docking station also a charger? Yes. POE (Power over Ethernet) and AC plug. Draws 10W. How does voicemail work with Mobile UC? Mobile UC subscribers will have 2 phone numbers, and each number will have its own voicemail box - business mailbox for business identity and mobile mailbox for mobile identity. Mobile UC does not merge business & mobile voicemail platforms onto a single voicemail system. If incoming call when undocked: Voicemail message will be left in the voicemail box associated with the number that was dialed by the calling party. So, if business number is dialed, then message will be in business mailbox, and if mobile number is dialed then message will be in mobile mailbox. If incoming call when docked: If an incoming call to the business or mobile number is not answered, it will only bring you to the business voicemail box when docked. This is because when you are docked, you are connected directly to the business PBX and not the Verizon Wireless network. Rather than miss a call to the mobile number when docked for business, the Verizon Wireless network forwards the mobile number to the business PBX/DID and those calls will ring at the docking station so you don t miss a call. Does this work with Visual Voice Mail? Calls to mobile number will not impact functionality available with Visual Voice Mail. What does simultaneous ring mean? Simultaneous Ring allows you to have multiple destinations ring simultaneously when any calls are received on your phone number. When you undock, Simultaneous Ring feature is enabled at the Enterprise PBX. Thus, when a calling party dials the business number, it will ring the undocked mobile phone so you don t miss a business call when away from your desk. When you dock, the Simultaneous Ring is then turned off.

When a person calls one phone, do both the docking station and cell phone ring? The docking station will not ring if a mobile device is not docked and registered. How does extension dialing work on a mobile phone? When dialing from business identity, whether docked or undocked, you can dial the short extension code (i.e. x1234) to reach a peer in your office associated with the same PBX. What is Shared Call Appearance with Multiple Line Support? A telephony feature that makes two or more phones behave as if they are linked; that is, that a call to one number causes all phones to ring. Mobile UC accounts for up to 3 shared lines. (NOTE: Shared Line Appearance/Bridged appearance is planned for Mobile UC but will not be available at launch.) Are the mobile and business identities available on the smartphone both when mobile and when docked? Mobile identity calls cannot be made when docked, only business identity as you are dialing directly through PBX and not Verizon Wireless network when docked. When undocked, both mobile and business identities are available. Docking station does not support call functionality when smartphone is not docked.
