IMPORTANT NOTICES USAGE OF DATA CHANNELS Nte: A data channel has t be available t use all features f the client during calls. Features that require a data channel are fr example Dual Mde (cellular netwrks / WLAN), crprate directry access, fast call setup, Vicever-IP (VIP) and true CLIP. Nte: A 2G cnnectin is nt sufficient fr transmitting data during a call. Nte that even during an active call, the data cnnectin can fall back t a 2G cnnectin, r regain 3G cnnectivity. Therefre, feature availability may vary during a call. Nte: The general use f data channels is gverned by the perating system (Andrid) f the phne. Generally allwing r disabling the use f data channels is therefre nly pssible in the native settings f yur phne. This applies especially, but nt exclusively, t the use f data channels when raming (abrad). Nte: Further cnfiguratin f the data channel usage plicy inside the client is pssible under Menu>>Settings>>Netwrk Settings. A green (VIP) r a blue registratin icn (signal-nly) indicate a successful system registratin (refer t 3.2). The fllwing settings are available: Off: n data. Minimal: data usage n demand ; nly allws HTTPS requests, n client registratins. Lcal Netwrk: allws data usage nly in yur prvider s netwrk; the client registers itself in the system (unless when raming); if yu are raming in anther prvider s netwrk, the client restricts data usage t the setting Minimal. Dynamic: allws data usage fr all features, even while raming (registratins, HTTPS). The mst suitable setting is nrmally pre-cnfigured by yur administratr. REGISTRATION STATUS OF THE DATA CONNECTION Indicates that there is a VIP-capable data cnnectin. This data cnnectin may be WLAN r cellular data cnnectin. Indicates a successfully established data cnnectin fr feature requests. Please nte that this cnnectin type causes data traffic. Appears when a registratin at the Mitel MC Cntrller is in prgress. Appears if the system registratin has failed. This may be caused by faulty user credentials. Please cntact yur administratr if this prblem persists. Indicates that there is currently n data cnnectin available, and, therefre, n system registratin pssible. Whenever a data cnnectin becmes available, the client can re-register itself in the system if it is cnfigured t d s. Please nte that system registratin (data access) is needed fr fast call setup. OUTBOUND CELLULAR CALLS Nte: If the client is nt registered fr VIP (blue, yellw, red r grey icn) every utbund call will be ruted via the cellular netwrk. But these calls as well will be ruted thrugh yur crprate netwrk. Nte: If yu hear waiting tnes, and the call setup takes a very lng time, the data channel cnnectin t the system has failed. The call will still cmplete in a fallback mde in which the destinatin number is transmitted via DTMF. If happens n a regular basis r even always, please cntact yur administratr. Nte: If n data cnnectin is available fr a call, n in-call features will be ffered. A 2G-cnnectin is nt sufficient t transmit data during an active call. Nte that even during an active call yu can fall back t a 2G cnnectin, r regain 3G cnnectivity. Therefre, feature availability may vary during a call. - 2 -
INBOUND CELLULAR CALLS Nte: The client displays the caller ID (number and / r name) f the calling party if a data channel is available and if the MTC (Mbile Terminated Call) Number has been set by yur administratr. Nte that the data cnnectin must be established befre the call cmes in! This als includes any additinal infrmatin, e.g. Caller ID received frm the crprate directry f the PBX. Alternatively, the Caller ID f the calling party can be transmitted via cellular signalling if supprted by yur PBX ( CLIP n screening trunk ). Cntact yur administratr fr mre details abut this prcedure. CELLULAR TO WLAN HANDOVER Nte: If an accessible WLAN access pint (AP) f sufficient quality is in range, the client autmatically hands ver the call t WLAN. This can als be dne manually in the in-call screen. Nte the registratin icn in the tp-status bar which will then be displayed in green t indicate a VIP-capable cnnectin. VOIP CALLS Nte: In additin t the availability f features (identical t cellular data cnnectins), VIP (WLAN) ffers free-fcharge telephny. Nte: Csts fr data usage may be incurred in cellular netwrks and in cellular data netwrks. VOIP OUTBOUND CALLS Nte: VIP calls will nly be placed when the registratin icn is displayed in green. INBOUND CALLS Nte: The client will cme t the fregrund n an incming VIP call. This prcess is nearly identical t a regular incming cellular call. HANDOVER Nte: If the signal strength f the WLAN htspt decreases t a pint where the vice quality suffers, the client hands ver the call t the cellular netwrk (this can als be requested manually in the in-call screen). Nte: Autmatic handvers have t be enabled in yur Client s cnfiguratin (client setting: Misc. Settings >> Handver Settings). Ask yur administratr abut this.
