Our Ready, Set Goat initiative has been very successful. We will let you know shortly how many goats we were able to purchase as a school community. Thank you for your support. As we welcome spring, we think of the many things that we have still to accomplish before the end of the year. A great deal of learning was celebrated at our Student Led Conferences and we encourage students and their families to set learning goals for the remaining months. We are looking forward to continuing our work in partnership with parents to help their children bloom. Administration Changes As spring arrives, the school district begins to make plans for the next school year. Ms. McGovern will be leaving St. Sebastian to become the vice principal of St. Stephen School. She has provided three years of exceptional service to

our students and we will be sorry to say good bye. We wish her all the best in her new position as she has many gifts to share with her new school community. We will welcome Mr. Dave Magdich as our new vice principal. He is coming to us from St. Stephen School and brings with him a wealth of experience with the district. Parents will have the opportunity to meet him at an upcoming School Council meeting. Parent Satisfaction Survey Each year the district invites parents to complete a Parent Satisfaction Survey. The survey is now open and will remain open until May 15. Please visit http://tinyurl.com/2015surveyccsd to share your views. The survey can only be completed online so if parents do not have access to a computer at home, they are welcome to contact the school and arrange a time to use the school computers. Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. Kindergarten Registration Kindergarten Registration is ongoing. In order to be eligible for Kindergarten in the fall, the child must be five on or before March 1 st, 2016. To register for kindergarten, please drop by the school with your child s birth certificate, parent or child s baptismal certificate and proof of residency. Student Lates It is important that students arrive at school on time. This enables children to begin their day as a group and lessens anxiety around feeling that they have missed some important information or instructions. It aides in creating an atmosphere of calm. Students should arrive at school a few minutes before the bell. The first bell rings at 8:50 at which time all students should line up with their class and enter the school through their designated door. Students are expected to be in their classroom ready to begin when announcements start at 8:55. Students who arrive after the second bell must report to the office and pick up a late slip before going to class. This will ensure that a student is not marked absent and an unnecessary (and sometimes worrisome) phone call is made to parents. We appreciate your support in helping your child to develop healthy attendance habits. Event Tidbits The students learned about how to help save the polar bears during Evergreen Theatre s presentation Goldilocks and the Three Polar Bears. Our students learning was enhanced in many ways this month- Grade 3 had a presentation about the Ukraine; we all learned about Down syndrome; the grade 5 s tried curling; the grade 6 students visited Father James Whelihan School and the Grade 4 s had an Agriculture Presentation. As we celebrate Holy Week we welcomed the Holy Spirit Youth Group who presented the Passion.

Our Holy Thursday Liturgy is at 9:15am on April 2 nd. Thank you so much to Mrs. Lo and Mrs. Lynch for organizing it for us. All families are welcome to join us. We were pleased to see so many parents and children at our Student Led Conferences. It was a wonderful way to celebrate learning. On behalf of the entire teaching staff, we would like to express our gratitude for dinner put on by the parents on the evening of Student Led Conferences. We are blessed to foster such strong parent/teacher relationships in turn benefiting the ones who matter the most the students. Grade Six Handbell Choir: Tuesdays at 8:00 a.m. Handbell Choir for Grade Six students is an extracurricular group made up of 11 students who play bells and practice for performances. Rehearsals will be every Tuesday from 8:00 to 8:45 am in the music room. Twenty students auditioned for the club in January 2015 and were chosen based on a written note recognition test, written statement of intent and ringing skill demonstration. It was a great challenge to pick the 11 students for the club this year. The Handbell Choir will take part in the Calgary Catholic Ring and Sing Festival along with the Elementary Choir on April 22 nd. As well, the final performance of the year will be during our eighth annual Fine Arts Night on May 27 th. Please contact Ms. Stankowski if you have any questions at connie.stankowski@cssd.ab.ca. or call 403-500-2116. Thanks.
