3 Job Description for HCC Children s Ministry Director The Heath Church of Christ is seeking a full-time Children s Ministry Director to oversee the church s vibrant children s department (birth to 6 th grade). Primary responsibilities include: teaching and shepherding children, recruiting and training volunteers, organizing and planning programs and events, partnering with leadership and staff in accomplishing the mission of the church, and offering love and support to parents and families. The candidate must be a spiritually mature Christian who is committed to Restoration Movement teaching and principles. A Bachelor s degree in children s ministry, Christian education, or elementary education is desirable; however, the candidate s children s ministry experience and Christian character will also strongly be taken into account. 4 CURRENT RESPONSIBILITIES 0-2 Years, Lois Orr, to staff nursery during all services. Recruit and schedule (13) registration clerks and (26) individuals to clean nursery area. Weekly reminder postcards were sent to these volunteers prior to year. At this time I used as a reminder to these workers as well as weekly attendants. Inventory and purchase Nursery supplies (i.e. cleaning supplies, batteries for pagers and toys, diaper genie refills) Prepare information for mailing: Nursery worker schedule; Nursery procedures, Informational letter. in February, May, August, and November. Visit families of newborn babies. Deliver gift from Heath Church of Christ (1st year Baby Calendar & hand made afghan. Coordinate new order flowers) Yearly update of nursery registration cards, cubby names and pager batteries. Bulletin Board in honor of those expecting new arrivals. New arrival pictures are displayed as well. Prepare request for parents to provide snack items for the nursery area. 2-PreK Recruit teacher for Sunday AND Wednesday PM classes. (Ideally for school year, most recently one week per month) Recruit teachers for summer classes. Select curriculum and dispense to teachers. (School year & summer) Recruit eight (8) Wee Worship teams. Prepare Wee Worship lesson materials and supply materials for weekly lessons. (i.e.: copies of coloring sheets, craft supplies, music, attendance items, and stickers. K-2 Grade Recruit teacher for Wednesday PM class for school year, September - May. Recruit teachers for summer classes. Select curriculum and dispense to teachers. (School year & summer) 4

Select curriculum and dispense to teachers 5/6 Grade Recruit teacher for Wednesday PM SUPERSTART class for school year, September - May. Order curriculum as needed and dispense to teacher K-6 Recruit teachers for Wednesday PM classes/choose curriculum. (See above for age group divisions) Recruit team for Sunday PM CHOIR PROGRAM AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP CLASSES. Share in selection of choir music/musical. Periodic meetings with choir leaders to plan calendar events. (i.e. singing dates, musical dates, practice dates, lock in events) Publicity and communication letters for choir events. OVERALL THINGS DONE FOR ALL AGES LIBRARY Library. Assist in selecting materials to keep current books and DVDs available. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Coordinate Annual Bible School Christmas program. Select music, recruit parts, prepare materials, communicate with Bible School teachers, develop practice calendar. CAMP Prepare a camp display with registration information/ripples/current camper list/stickers/dvds/suggested weeks/progress report of full weeks. Contact each child with a suggested camp week(s) for their age group. Publicize HCC Registration Day Prepare all Round Lake Christian Camp registrations for mailing/encourage on line registrations Communicate with camp to keep running list of campers registered. Write letters to each camper during their camp week. campers 5

6 BIBLE LEAGUE Coordinate Bible League program within the church. Recruit leaders for Heath Teams in each age group. (3) Prepare text/write practice questions or recruit practice questions writers/recruit game question writers. Publicize/prepare practice and game schedule. MISCELLANEOUS Prepare monthly bulletin board Attend staff meetings. Prepare budget/complete & submit purchase orders for all areas of NEEDS in these budgeted areas: o To Babies With Love o o o o Wee Worship o Ministry Events o Bible League o Vacation Bible School o Miscellaneous o Christmas Bible School Program o Round Lake Tuition o Teacher Appreciation Plan monthly summer activities for each of designated age groups: Preschool; K-2; 3-6 Prepare and record PERMISSION SLIPS, updated annually for liability protection of transportation & on site activity. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Securing the Director and Assistant Director for our Annual Vacation Bible School with approval by the Elders. Curriculum Choice - Vacation Bible School director and Assistant director in this selection. Recruiting Workers for Vacation Bible School. The Vacation Bible School Director and Assistant Director are responsible to make the contacts to individual workers. 6

7 The following criteria for recruiting workers as provided by the elders. A. Members of the Heath Church of Christ B. Immersed Believers C. Attendee of the Heath Church of Christ - A,B -Lesson Teachers, Homeroom Teachers, Craft Leaders - A,B,C - Homeroom Helpers, Craft Workers, Kitchen Workers, Secretarial Workers PRINTED MATERIALS Provide and update giving description to ministry programs provided. Provide and update NURSERY BROCHURE giving descriptive information Keep an updated of Names, Addresses, Phone, Parents, Birthdays, Age, Grade, Bible School Class Provide class list for Sunday morning Bible School teachers for shepherding information and for superintendant to have numbers for curriculum ordering. Bulletins for Worship services provided, coordinate with weekly sermon when possible. Birthday/Visitor Balloons available weekly. Place name tags for birthdays Prepare one page of monthly newsletter.
