2 Family Days - it s free and fun! Family Days is a brand new one-week festival organized by International House Copenhagen in collaboration with a large number of libraries, culture houses and sports clubs throughout Copenhagen. This is your chance to dig into the countless culture and leisure activities available in Copenhagen with your entire family. Come and try indoor playgrounds, children s theatre, city walks, free lessons in badminton, tennis, football, yoga, rhythmics and much more! 3 Monday, September 7th Say hello to the animals in ByOasen Monday, September 7th at 14:00-17:00 Come and say hello to the animals in the city farm in Nørrebro. We will give you a tour of the farm and invite kids to take part in activities at the manned playground. ByOasen is just one of more than 20 manned playgrounds in Copenhagen. The playground is manned by pedagogical staff, and they make sure to turn any playground visit into a special experience with activities and fun equipment. Where: ByOasen, Møllegade 25 C, Nørrebro Meeting point: The orangery in the middle of the park Running session with Sparta Motion Monday, September 7th at 16:00-17:30 Running is fun especially if it takes place within a casual and friendly running community! The popular running club Sparta Motion invites you and your family to try a free running session in the beautiful Fælledparken. Before heading off, the trainer will give an introduction to the club and its activities. Sparta has training teams for both new and experienced runners. Please wear sports clothing and running shoes or make sure to bring a padlock, if you wish to use lockers and changing facilities. 5 Volleyball lesson with Amager VK Amager VK is a club with teams of all ages and levels, playing indoor as well as outdoor. Focus is placed on the joy of team play, where players are inspired to develop and grow. Amager VK is also a social club, both inside and outside the court. The lovely, vast park just outside Valby is perfect for picnic, playing, ball games, kite flying etc. with a fantastic nature playground. The playground is manned by pedagogical staff that turn a playground visit into a special experience with activities and fun equipment. 6 musmik.dk MusMik Baby Music free trial lesson Tuesday, September 8th at 14:05-14:50 MusMik is a music school for babies and toddlers, and they offer a free trial lesson for babies aged 4-11 months. They sing songs, dance, do knee rides, blow bubbles, use colored scarfs, lots of balls and small rhythmic instruments! The activities revolve around the parent and child, stimulating the musicality, motor function and senses. This is also a nice way for parents to get together. Tuesday, September 8th at 18:00-19:00 Though DTU Exiles Rugby is the official rugby club of the Technical University of Denmark, the team is not limited to DTU students or employees only. Danes and foreigners, ladies and men, tall and small, fit and out of form, experienced and curious... Everyone willing to discover a renowned team sport and an exclusive warm atmosphere is invited to try rugby with us! We currently have two teams: The Exiles Seniors play in the Danish 1st Division and the Exiles Ladies play in the Danish women s Division. 13 Come try the children s traffic playground Friday, September 11th at 10:00-16:00 The Children s Traffic Playground in Fælledparken is a perfect place for young and older kids to learn about road safety and traffic rules. To provide realistic traffic simulation, the playground features traffic lights, road signs, road markers, bike paths, petrol stations, and much more. 3 to 6-year-olds are welcome to borrow a bike. The 2-5 year-olds have their own lane, featuring tricycles and Danish Moon-Cars. This workshop will ensure that instead of being thrown out, these dusty, old books are given new life! Guided by the talented artist Julie Boserup, we use pages from old books to make new books, mini boxes, pocket books, bookmarks and many other useful things. 17 Spicy rhythms and groovy beats live performance by KALAHA Saturday, September 12th at KALAHA is the name of a Danish band that embraces various genres including jazz, afro beat and electronic music. Their repertoire is hot and spicy. The group consists of Emil de Waal on drums, sample pad, percussion and effects, Niclas Knudsen on the guitar, Spejderrobot on various electronic devices and Rumpistol on synthesizers and effects. Where: Copenhagen Main Library, Krystalgade 15, 1172 København K TRUST: THE TEMPLE, Nikolaj Kunsthal Saturday, September 12th at 13: Experience new and cutting edge visual art in Nikolaj Kunsthal, a welcoming centre for contemporary art in the heart of Copenhagen. Nikolaj Kunsthal is located in the city s third oldest church building and features one of the tallest towers in Copenhagen. Through exercises, play and a dialogue-based tour you will be taken on a journey through the exhibition TRUST: THE TEMPLE presenting three humorous and playful art installations on the notion of trust. You will get information on how to get started and a chance to meet some of our international volunteers, who have joined the club this year. We have 8 fabulous play courts and do our best to create activities and an atmosphere, where players of all levels can get the most out of their game. The club has a thriving social tennis scene and a great track record in junior, senior and veteran competitive leagues on the national tennis scene. The show is about Andersen s wagon on which he has his lovely, little house. This house is home to his countless fairy tales, which are told each time a door or window is opened. It is packed with everything from puppetry and dance to songs and entertaining stories about princesses, peas, courage and dreams. 20 Family collage workshop Sunday, September 13th at 11:00-13:30 What matters to you here in life? Have you thought of what historical events define you? Together we will focus on our common cultural heritage together with our individual personal stories. We will cut and paste newspapers, ads, old books and photos, and you are more than welcome to bring your own photos. We will end the workshop with a reception and traditional Danish smørrebrød (open face sandwiches) at 14:00. Where: Kvarterhuset, Jemtelandsgade 3, Amager Sunday Rhythm Sunday, September 13th (At 13:00-13:45 for children aged 0-1. At 14:00-14:45 for children aged 2-4) This is your chance to try Zone2 s Sunday Rhythm accompanied by the talented rhythm instructor Lotte Tænner. 21 Tour of the house - Valby Culture House Sunday, September 13th at 15:00-15:45 Valby Kulturhus is a unique house that offers open ceramics workshop, creative studios and digital facilities in 2D and 3D fabrication through their well-known fabrication laboratory Fablab. Fablab is a creative, hi-tech workshop, where ideas are developed and realized through both prototypes and finished products. This tour of the house gives you the chance to check out Fablab including its newest digital technologies such as laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC machines. Kalle Mathiesen One Man Show Sunday, September 13th at 15:00-16:00 The noisy Ramasjang-star Kalle is a classically trained drummer but there is absolutely nothing classical about the way he plays drums! Kalle s philosophy is that there is music in everything and that everything is music. His shows involve balloons, drilling machines, squeaky toys and helmets, and the only thing you can be sure of is that you can t be sure of anything when Kalle is behind the drums. Kalle has entertained children and parents around the entire world with his hilarious yet highly intelligent musical performance.
