2 Welcome to Liberty High School Home of the Eagles On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff we wish to extend to you a sincere welcome to Liberty High School. We are extremely excited that you will be joining us through your high school experience. We are extremely proud of what our school stands for and know that you will carry that same pride with you as we embark on this journey together. Our school mascot, the Eagle, represents freedom, strength, and soaring opportunities. The colors blue and red remind us that we are distinguished and intuitive: using intuition to teach and serve. The vision of our school is Inspire. Dream. Dare. Soar. Our school belief is that all Liberty High School students and staff will be responsible, be respectful, and act with integrity. To achieve success you must develop positive work habits and plan to make the best use of your educational opportunities throughout your school years. Successful students get involved in school activities, have good attendance, prepare for their classes, and participate in a variety of activities in and out of school. Excellence is a habit, one we strive for on a regular basis at Liberty High School. With Liberty Pride, Mr. Ragusky Principal

10 Extra-Curricular Activities Drama/Musical is an activity designed for students who enjoy acting and/or singing and wish to perform in the fall or spring musical. Participants are chosen by audition and are required to attend after school rehearsals. In addition, students may apply to be a part of the stage crew. Stage crew members are responsible for handling props, lighting, and other behind the scenes activities. Epsilon Beta (Keepers of the Library) The purpose of this club is to promote interest in the local school library and to improve library services. Members assist with book fairs and monthly book club meetings, help to plan reading-related celebrations and activities, and volunteer some time each month to shelve books, create displays and help patrons. Key Club is a high school club sponsored by Kiwanis International. High School student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing, and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected positions at the club, district, and international levels. Lunchtime Gateway Book Club explores the year s Missouri award-nominated books for high school- known as the Gateway books. Students vote to determine which Gateway books they would like to read, and then they have a chance to sign up for as many meetings as they wish. The librarian provides students with a copy of the month s chosen book, and they meet in the library at lunch on a set date to discuss the book. Movie Club The purpose of this club is to gather together students who enjoy watching, discussing and recommending movies. The club meets early in the school year to choose monthly themes, and then meets once per month to watch a film related to that month s theme. National Honor Society (NHS) The NHS chapter at Liberty HS creates enthusiasm for academic achievement and stimulates a desire to render service for our community and our school. Membership into the NHS is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, citizenship, character, leadership, and service. In order to be considered for an application to NHS, students must have a grade point average of at least 3.6 and no discipline referrals. Screamin Eagles Pep Club promotes positive school spirit within Liberty High School by facilitating various in-school activities, events and displays. Events include participating in spirit days, wearing red to all games, supporting Liberty teams in a positive way, cleaning up after games and assisting teams and the athletic booster club as needed. Student Council STUCO organizes and runs many of the activities, dances, and events that take place at Liberty High School. Students must apply to STUCO and pass a screening process involving a written application, teacher recommendation, and a personal interview. Talent Show gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents. Participants are chosen by audition and are required to attend at least one mandatory dress rehearsal. Open practices are twice per week after school. The talent show is held in the evening and is a fun activity for the whole family to attend.
