1 300 Licking View Dr. Heath, Ohio PROFILE Heath High School THE COMMUNITY The city of Heath is located in central Licking County. The city is located 35 miles east of Ohio s State Capital of Columbus. Heath is primarily a middle class community but like many small communities it has been hit hard by the poor economy. Heath possesses a small, but growing, amount of diversity. Heath is a young town formed from Newark in the early 1960 s. The city of Heath features many retail businesses and restaurants. Major industry located in Heath includes Arvin-Meritor International, The Bionetics Corporation, Boeing Guidance Repair Center, and Kaiser Aluminum. THE HIGH SCHOOL Heath High School (HHS) is a comprehensive public high school covering grades 9 through 12. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges and the Ohio Department of Education. Heath is served as an associate school of Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-TEC). With our proximity to The Ohio State University-Newark (OSU-N) and the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), many of our students enroll in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program to enhance their academic course opportunities. Three courses taught at Heath High School are actually PSEO classes taught through COTC, and we are also involved in Tech Prep with COTC/C-TEC as well. Denison University is also available for concurrent enrollment options. HHS is a member of the Mid-State League, Ohio Division. Other MSL Ohio schools include Bexley, Columbus Academy, Granville, Lakewood, Licking Valley, Newark Catholic, and Whitehall- Yearling. ENROLLMENT Enrollment in grades 9-12 totals 498 as of June, 2010 and is distributed as follows: Grade Grade Grade Grade Of those 498 students, 52 students were enrolled in vocational programs at C-TEC.
