Introduction The IUT of Sceaux is part of Paris-Sud University which is based in Orsay. It offers two-year degrees (DUT), bachelor s degrees and master s degrees. The subjects include management, human resources and business, taught by full time teachers, researchers and professionals. All the classes are in French, except the new Bachelor Certificate in International Business which is entirely in English. The IUT of Sceaux is part of Paris-Sud University which is composed of the Jean Monnet University in Sceaux (law, economics and management departments), the Orsay and Cachan Institutes of Technology, the University of Pharmacology in Châtenay-Malabry, the University of Medecine in Kremlin-Bicêtre, the Institute of Engineering (FIPS), the University of Sports Sciences and Techniques (STAPS) and the University of Science in Orsay. 4
The IUT is located in a highly privileged suburban area near the Sceaux park. It is close to top ranked colleges and universities, the famous rue Houdan and the coulée verte a green space stretching from Paris to the suburbs. Premises have easy access. They are near major roads (N20, N306, N186, N118) and a highly developed public transport network (RER B stations Sceaux or Robinson; buses: 128, 192, 194, 198, 395). The RER B line directly links the Institute of Technology to international airports (Orly and Roissy - Charles de Gaulle) as well as international train stations (Gare du Nord : Eurostar, Thalys). Château & Parc de Sceaux, 200 metres from the Institute. 5
International Matters - a strong focus on the international environment The IUT of Sceaux is part of a network of universities and offers opportunities to study abroad and welcome students via ERASMUS (Europe), CREPUQ (Quebec) and MICEFA (USA) programs. These exchange programs take place in the second or third year. At the end of the training there are also several opportunities for internships abroad, essentially in Europe. Further information is available on our website: wwww.iut-sceaux.upsud.fr/fr/international.html (international tab) 6
The three IUTs within Paris-Sud University also welcome Chinese students with the University Diploma of French as a foreign and specific language program. These students are taught French as a second language in special classes throughout their DUT (the specific two-year degree offered by Institutes of Technology). The IUT also provides classes in French as a foreign language (giving credits) for students of international programs, including ERASMUS. 7
Companies and Organizations at the heart of the unique Institutes of Technology system Companies, administrations and organizations are at the heart of the school. Courses leading to professional degrees are specifically designed to match their requirements and all our teaching methods and practices are based on the way they operate. It includes supervised projects with sponsors, simulated interviews, negotiations and company role plays, case studies, professional projects, internships and forums. A large number of classes are taught by professionals from the service sector. 8
When our students leave school they have a nationally recognized degree that is greatly appreciated by professionals. They are immediately operational and ready to apply for a job. The school s development policy is very much based on companies and particularly for apprenticeship and the setting up or taking over of a business. Companies and organizations are also part of the school s structure. They are members of the School s Council and members of commissions to improve diplomas (especially for professional bachelor s degrees). They are also partners for apprenticeships and further education. The school is completely committed to developing and strengthening relations with the professional world. 9
Excellence from the start Paris-Sud University has reached an internationally renowned standard of excellence. Its researchers have gotten several prizes including Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals. The University is well ranked in many international rankings and regularly appears as the first French University on the international scene. Within this University, Sceaux Institute of Technology is also setting high standards, particularly in its selection. It welcomes around 1,600 students, 600 of which are first year students. These first year students have been carefully selected through an attentive process. Less than 10% of the candidates are actually entering the Institute. 10
This strong will to set a high standard of excellence results in a high proportion of graduates who quickly find a job right after their two-year degree or their Bachelor s Degree, or who enter prestigious business schools in France and abroad. Eventually, among the many Institutes of Technology in France, all of which do not propose the same majors, Sceaux Institute is one of the most sought after in its specific subjects : international business, marketing, management, human resources... 11

Annex I Paris Sud University Paris-Sud University is the largest campus in France. It has five locations, namely in the towns of Orsay, Sceaux, Châtenay-Malabry, Cachan, and Kremlin- Bicêtre, all in the southern suburbs of Paris. 36
Annex II Paris Sud University History After World War 2, the rapid growth of nuclear physics and chemistry meant that research needed more and more powerful accelerators, which required large areas. The Université de Paris, the Ecole Normale Superieure and the College de France looked for space in the south of Paris near Orsay. October 1954 The Parc de Launay in Orsay (160 hectares) was bought by the State Construction began on the Institut de Physique Nucléaire (Nuclear Physics Institute) and the Laboratoire de l'accélérateur Linéaire (Linear Accelerator Laboratory) by architect Seassal under the scientific direction of Joseph Pérès, Irène and Frédéric Juliot-Curie and Hans von Halban The cyclotron of the College de France, built in 1937, was moved to Orsay The first beams of the new French accelerators began to function (synchro-cyclotron of 157 MeV, and Linear Accelerator) Some of the teaching activity of the Faculty of Sciences in Paris was transferred to Orsay. The rapid increase of students led to the independence of the Orsay Center on March 1st,
December 1970 The Université Paris-Sud 11 was founded with the integration of the centers of Orsay, Châtenay-Malabry, Sceaux, Cachan and Kremlin-Bicêtre. Since 1970 The campus in Orsay began to expand on the plateau de Moulon with the founding of new laboratories which were almost all within Université Paris-Sud, although a few were more specifically linked to the CNRS or even with Paris VI University. Because of the proximity of Université Paris-Sud to the CEA (Atomic Energy Institute) and to the laboratories of the CNRS in Gif sur Yvette, many institutes and laboratories, as well as academic schools (Polytechnique, HEC, IHES, ENSTA...) also came to this area. As a result, the Vallée de Chevreuse has become one of the most important and well-known areas in scientific research in Europe. 38
