ISTC METHODOLOGY In the frame of an academic exchange, a student has to validate a number of ECTS defined by the host institution. The student has to respect the three following steps: Before the semester starts, the student has to get his/her course selection approved both by the host institution and the home institution. This course selection should correspond to 30 ECTS per semester. Once arrived in the host institution, the student gets his/her course selection approved and gets enrolled in these courses. He/she has to make sure that his/her course selection represents 30 ECTS. Following the end of the semester and the exam period, the host institution sends the student a transcript of records including the number of ECTS obtained by the student. This information will appear on the annual transcript of records issued by ISTC. If the student goes on a work placement, he/she has to send the Study Director a monthly report as well as submit a written report at the end of his training period. This report will have to be approved by the training supervisor and presented to a jury. These reports will be evaluated and correspond to ECTS. If the student fulfils all the required criteria, he will be awarded 30 ECTS. 1

3 3. LINGUISTIC POLICY ISTC develops a programme of modern language courses (3 modern languages throughout the Bachelor and Master cycles). To take part in an exchange programme, a student will have to take the language test of the future host country and obtain at least the equivalent of B2 level. This ensures that the student can follow the classes and take the exams. Courses offered at ISTC: Modern languages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Chinese) Courses taught in English (Business news, English lecture, History of press and media ) Preparation for the TOEIC test in Bachelor 3 (Licence 3) and Master 2 (expected score: 750 condition to graduate). Free EILC courses with ECTS award. If needed, students can take part in courses offered by the Language Department of Lille Catholic University. ISTC could also organise a course of French as a Foreign Language (FLE). ISTC allows the use of dictionary during classes and exams for incoming students. For inter institutional agreements (Bachelor 2 Licence 2 and Master 2), ISTC pays special attention that the following points are respected: Description of programmes and courses objectives, granted credits, acquired competences, pedagogical engineering, evaluation process. Presence of subjects in relation with economics, general knowledge, communication techniques and strategies. Choice of courses within the same cycle, according to the student s level (Bachelor Licence or Master). Respect of the host institution rules (exam conditions, course attendance). Free access to classes (reciprocity of exchanges). Conditions of hosting, accommodation and follow up of students. For training periods, offered to all students over their five years of study, ISTC verifies the relevance of the missions according to the student s level, confirmed by the signature of a training period agreement by the three parties involved. This agreement is written either in French or in English. ISTC offers a welcome session to all incoming students. That includes a detailed explanation of the academic programmes, a visit of the premises as well as administrative procedures (learning agreement, insurances, signatures, IT access, and accommodation). The academic part is ensured by the Study Director who approves the course selection. All incoming students also get a welcome guide with the following information: ISTC organisation, programme description, course description, IT procedure for s, information means, access to the university library, students associations, life on campus and in the neighbourhood. Three individual meetings per semester are organised with incoming students to follow up with their study abroad experience. 3

This ensures that the student can follow the classes and take the exams.

4 4. VALIDATION PROCESS At the end of the study abroad period, the host institution sends a transcript of records to ISCT International Relations Office. These results will be taken into account for the annual transcripts of records issued by ISTC. The credits obtained during this study abroad period will be mentioned. The procedure is the same for training periods abroad. The submission of the training report and the oral presentation will enable the award of ECTS. Regarding incoming students, after their mobility period, ISTC will issue a transcript of records 2 months after the class council gathers. This transcript of records will specify the grades obtained by the student as well as the number of ECTS obtained. This document will be sent both to the home institution and the student. 5. ERASMUS STRATEGY Our institution is a member of Lille Catholique University Université Catholique de Lille (UC LILLE, Charter 28677) that has been very active in the ERASMUS programme and has made internationalisation one of its strategy development priorities. ISTC started international mobility in This commitment is clearly announced and encouraged by the Board of Directors. The international dimension represents a key element for our students education and mobility is encouraged through study abroad periods but also training periods in foreign countries. The choice of partners within the EU and outside the EU depends on several criteria that should always serve the interest of students: Course catalogue corresponding to the competence domains of our programme: Marketing, Communication and Communication Strategy Geographical area and teaching language Recognised university, awarding degrees Reciprocity of mobility exchanges Clearness and transparence of the academic programmes Awarding of university credits Possibility to take language courses Ability to welcome exchange students Possibility to develop staff mobility Possibility to develop common projects (such as case studies) Possibility to develop double degree agreements Regarding training periods abroad, ISTC s will is to develop long term collaborations Geographical areas International mobility is mainly developed in the four following areas: Euro Region North America Asia South America 4

5 ISTC is in contact with 6 countries within Europe and 12 countries outside Europe, which represents 41 institutions. We have one double degree agreement with San Pablo University in Madrid. The will of ISTC is now to develop mobility with the UK and the ERASMUS Charter will enable us to go further in this respect. ISTC also wants to be more present in Italy as well as in Germany due to the important number of economic partners in these countries and due to the fact that both Italian and German are taught in our programme. Objectives and target groups International mobility concerns both students and staff. Student mobility is implemented through an academic exchange during Bachelor 2 Licence 2 (optional) and Master 2 (compulsory). Before his/her mobility period, the language level of the student is tested and he/she should obtain at least the B2 level, according to the European certification. The main objectives are as follows: Encourage students open mindedness Enable them to develop their competences in an international context Increase their qualification level Improve their level in one or several modern languages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Chinese) Discover other teaching methods As for the training periods, act for the communication of an international economic structure. Regarding the mobility through work placements, ISCT encourages students to serve their training period abroad from Bachelor 1 (Licence 1) to Master 2 with the following objectives: Bachelor 1 (Licence 1): "discovery" training 2 to 3 months Bachelor 2 (Licence 2): "sales" training 2 to 3 months Bachelor 3 (Licence 3): "initial communication" training 3 to 4 months Master 1 : "in depth" training 5 months Master 2: Compulsory international period (academic exchange, authorized training period, professional experience) 6 months Master 2: End of study work placement 6 months For each of these training periods, the students will have to write a report and, starting from Bachelor 3 (Licence 3), do an oral presentation. 5
