If yu are nt enrlled in a Virginia schl yu will be referred by Natinal Testing Netwrk (NTN) after cmpleting yur nline applicatin. Yur temprary username and passwrd will be issued by yur schl r by NTN when yur applicatin is cmplete. What t expect frm yur schl: They refer yu nline. They btain and give yu a temprary username and passwrd. They reprt all f yur cmpleted training hurs n the website by the time yu reprt fr yur exam. The practical exam fee is $85 and the written exam fee is $85 fr all exam dates thrugh June 30, All individual retests scheduled are $85 each fr all exam dates thrugh June 30, Effective July 1, 2015, the written exam fee (including retests) will increase t $90. 15 A T T H E P R A C T I C A L E X A M T E S T I N G C E N T E R Exam Setting Vide Instructins and Timer Practical exams are administered in a testing setting. A cunter is prvided t wrk n. Brms and dustpans are available. N ther saln facilities are available. Practical exam instructins and a cuntdwn timer shwing time remaining fr each timed prtin f the exam are presented n a vide screen in the exam rm. Scripts are available t read nline r dwnlad at Prfessinal Techniques Wrkstatins Kit Requirements N specific prfessinal techniques are required. The prfessinal techniques yu use are up t yu. Regardless f yur prfessinal technique, yu will be evaluated n whether r nt yu successfully perfrm the steps listed fr each service in a way that is safe, sanitary and legal, and des nt detract frm exam administratin. Practical exam wrkstatins at the exam facility are cuntertp tables. Wrkstatins are apprximately deep, wide and tall. Items yu place n yur cuntertp, including yur mannequin, tls, supplies and cntainers, must stay within the area f yur assigned wrkstatin. Mannequin stands/clamps need t pen wide enugh t accmmdate 2 thick cuntertps. Waste receptacles must be placed n the flr underneath the wrkstatin and remain within yur wrkstatin bundaries during the entire exam. Yu must bring yur wn kit with a sufficient quantity f supplies t cmplete all sectins f the exam. Kits must be able t fit cmpletely under yur wrkstatin. All prducts and supplies used in services must be in sealed r clsed cntainers clearly labeled in English. The checklist at the end f this Candidate Infrmatin Bulletin has a cmplete list f what yur kit must cntain. Yu may bring ther items if they meet the requirements described at the tp f the checklist. Natinal Testing Netwrk des nt regulate r endrse any kit cmpany. Regardless f where a kit is frm, it is the candidate s respnsibility t ensure it is cmplete. Kits must be stred under the wrkstatin. Candidates may place and/r remve items frm their kits during the exam withut an evaluatr s permissin. Kits and their cntents are cnsidered sanitary unless sanitatin is brken. Candidates are respnsible fr maintaining sanitatin f their kits during the entire exam, including while items are stred and during any mvement f items. Hand mannequin must be clean and unstained withut plish n the nails r skin. All five nails must be attached t the nail beds f hand mannequin and remain attached during services. Hand mannequin may be stabilized with a pillw if the candidate desires. 10 Minute Initial Setup 2 Minute Service Setup During a 10 minute initial setup, each candidate sets up linens, papers and prducts stred in clear, sealed plastic bags r cntainers and ther items that will remain ut fr the entire exam. The candidate als sets up hand mannequin and sanitized cntainers. During a 2 minute setup at the beginning f each service, implements, prducts, and tls fr that service are set up and may remain ut fr that service. During the 2 minute setup, candidates are expected t ensure the wrkstatin is clean, sanitized and disinfected fr the start f the service. Labels in English All labels n all items must be legible, visible t evaluatrs and in English. Prduct Requirements Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is prhibited. Candidates must supply all prduct(s) r mck prduct(s) needed fr services. N water is needed fr the exam. The fingerbwl will be empty and used as if it had water in it. Safe, nn-txic, nn-aersl prducts r mck prducts are required. All liquids and creams must be labeled in English stating what the cntainer represents. Mck prduct cntainers can nly represent ne item. Each prduct must be in a separate labeled cntainer. Ingredient lists frm actual prducts r mck ingredient lists are nt required. Candidates must supply a minimum f ne waste dispsal receptacle that must be kept n the flr underneath the candidate s assigned wrkstatin. The cntainer must be labeled Waste. Waste receptacle(s) must be plastic lined and freestanding. Paper grcery bags/shpping bags lined with plastic garbage bags, are recmmended. Plastic garbage bags that are taped t the wrkstatin are nt allwed. Candidates are allwed t put used tls and implements int the waste receptacle during the test.
