Each student will develp a cmplete prpsal fr a prgram in their prfessin, including a needs assessment, data cllectin design, review f related literature, and plans fr implementatin and evaluatin. Curse Overview This curse is a Learning Thery Cre Curse in Research Design that is required f PSU master s degree candidates and meets the pre-requisite requirement in Research Design fr the CAGS prgram and EP This is an nline r hybrid curse taken by a wide variety f graduate learners and each student may have individual interests r needs related t research design. Recmmended readings have been prvided as well as required texts, and students are encuraged t read widely and deeply. The discussins are imprtant fr building a sense f cmmunity in the curse and fr the students t be able t express their thughts and ideas related t the readings and research design principles and practices in general. Als, they prvide the instructr with insight int yur deep reading and reflectin n the readings, which helps t assess yur mastery f the material. Curse requirements: ALL curse elements cmplete and psted as assigned (up t 40 pints): Cmpletin, at least On Target, f text chapters "Activity" r Discussin and/r "Yur Research Prject in Actin" sheets, as assigned each week. Grading: pints = A pints = A pints = B pints = B pints = B pints = C 69-0 pints = F Please nte: C- is the lwest passing grade in the Cllege f Graduate Studies; a student scring lwer than 70 pints will be required t repeat the curse in a later term, at the instructr s discretin and in cnsultatin with the student, based n the student s wrk during the term. The curse is designed fr cmpletin within ne term s permissin fr an IC as a recrded grade will be granted nly if nearly all f the wrk fr the curse is cmplete and there are extenuating circumstances. The instructr and student will determine the cutff date fr a final grade. All assignments must be cmpleted and handed in, in rder t pass the curse. Plicy n Incmpletes: An instructr may decide t enter a grade f incmplete (IC) n a student s recrd if unusual circumstances prevent cmpletin f the curse n time, and a minimal prtin f the ttal class wrk needs t be cmpleted. The curse must be cmpleted by the date specified by the instructr which cannt exceed ne year beynd the riginal term f curse cmpletin. If the curse is nt cmpleted by this date, the grade specified by the instructr will be recrded. If n grade is specified, a default grade f F will be recrded. 7 Curse Calendar/Agenda The fall curse runs ver a 12-week perid, frm the first day f the term, with a learning mdule that includes required readings and discussins taking place during each week. See Mdle fr the detailed calendar fr this term. The final prject and presentatin are due May 24. Grades will be submitted t the system between June 1 and the fficial clse f grades. The term ends fficially n June 30 and n wrk can be submitted fr grading after that date. See the schedule f readings and assignments, which is psted in Mdle.
