Registration & Information Desk The desk for registration and distribution of documents will be located in the conference centre of Hotel Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik. 2 Lunch venues 23 June & 24 June Lunches on 23 & 24 June will take place at two different restaurants, the main hotel restaurant and the Nocturno Wine Bar. When registering you will be provided with a ticket indicating the details of the restaurant where you will have lunch. The Copacabana Beach is located just below the Valamar Resort and only a few minutes walking distance from the Valamar hotels. 3 EUIPO Workshop The EUIPO will be holding a workshop on Wednesday 22 June from Inge Buffolo, Deputy Director for European Trade Mark and Design Network Operation Centre Area, Customer Services Department, EUIPO, will address of the topic of Classification strategies for the EU: HDB and the new generation of classification tools. If you wish to attend please modify your registration accordingly using this link or send an to registration@ecta.org Special Dietary Requirements If you have informed us of special dietary requirements, please be advised that meals (except for the gala dinner and the lunches during the excursions) will be served buffet style and will be labelled in order that you can make a selection that meets your requirements. When registering you will be provided with coloured cards which we kindly ask you to place on the table so that the waiters are aware of your dietary requirements (only for the gala dinner and excursions). If you do not receive a card for any of the served meals, this means that the menu does not interfere with your dietary requirements. Badge Delegates, guests and accompanying persons are requested to wear their identification badges at all times during the event. For those who have booked their own accommodation, please take the buses from the conference venue hotel Valamar Lacroma. If you have booked accommodation in or around the Old Town, the Lazareti complex is within walking distance (located next to the Ploce Gate). In the summer months the temperature averages between degrees Celsius. The sun shines about 7.2 hours per day and at the end of June the sun sets around 8:30 PM. The average sea temperature is between 18 to 24 degrees Celsius with sea salinity being approx. 38%. 5

6 Time Difference UTC/GMT +1hour National Holidays During the conference Croatia will celebrate two national holidays. 22 June is the Anti-Fascist Resistance Day, while on 25 June Croatians celebrate their Statehood Day. There will be no special celebrations but all the state offices, banks and post offices will be closed. Some shops may be closed or have reduced working hours. Cruise Ships in Dubrovnik Dubrovnik is a very popular cruise ship destination. On 22, 23, 24, 25 June there will be an average of 3 cruise ships in town. Please be aware that due to traffic it might take you longer to reach the conference venue if you are not staying at one of the Valamar hotels. Also if you wish to visit the Old Town during the morning & afternoon, please be aware that it will be very crowded. Currency The currency in Croatia is the Kuna (KN). Even though Croatia is in the EU it is not a member of the monetary union so it is against the law to accept EURO. Although sometimes guests can pay by EURO (for accommodation or taxis) no business/individual is obliged to accept EURO as payment. Currency can be exchanged in banks, exchange and post offices or hotel receptions. You can also use ATMs to withdraw kunas. 1 EUR = approx. 7.5 KN *Croatian coins come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Lipa and 1, 2, 5 Kuna. Notes (paper money) come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Kuna. 7 Electricity The normal electric current in Croatia is 220 volts AC in 50 cycles. Electrical appliances from the US require a transformer and an adapter. Plugs are two-pin and adapters are available at many hardware store.
