1 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA SERVICES Programmes and Planning, Core Systems Modernisation Programme CSM BI Data Migration Project Manager Full Time, Fixed Term (24 months) Grade G: 36,309-45,954 per annum An opportunity has arisen to join the IT and Media Services (ITMS) Directorate, you will be working with the CSM Business Intelligence and Business Process teams at an exciting time of investment and modernisation at DMU. You will work with managers and colleagues within ITMS and across the University to help develop a clear Strategy of planned Data Migration. We are looking for a highly motivated Project Manager to come on board and work on a migration from legacy systems to an ERP and/or from multiple data sources to one single data warehouse. Understanding of an Enterprise Server Bus would be advantageous. You must have extensive project management experience, in depth experience of project management in a data migration project and programme experience in ETL Workbenches (i.e. Microsoft SQL, Oracle, etc.). You will also have experience in following: Data governance, processes/protocols as well as business intelligence and working with Change and Business Process Reengineering. You must be able to demonstrate: Good communication skills and an ability to present clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels in an often pressured, high profile environment. 2 Job Description CSM BI Project: Data Migration Project Manager Information Technology and Media Services Duties of the role Overall purpose of the role To be responsible for the effective management and delivery of the data migration within the core system modernisation programme. Including planning and direct involvement in the data governance and structure and leading the business change initiatives around the data migration strategy. The Universities core resource systems (Student Records, Finance, and HR) which are made up of many legacy systems provided by multiple vendors are now causing significant issues. The Core Systems Modernisation (CSM) aims to address these issues. The core of the CSM programme is targeted at creating a change in efficiency and effectiveness of the core resource management across the University. Main duties and responsibilities 1. Develop a data migration approach and work with the business to gain acceptance to refine. 2. Translate the data migration approach into technical requirements. 3. Work with the data governance guidelines team to ensure data is collected and transported in compliance with security guidance. 4. Liaise with users to understand their data and desired structures. 5. Write and govern the process for the migration of data. 6. Work with the Business Intelligence Team to ensure that management reports are structured and based on BI reporting best practices. 7. Responsible for the provision of a high quality professional Project service within the agreed tolerances of quality, cost and timescale; which enables the business to deliver the benefits required. 8. Working closely with the University s Procurement Department, take responsibility for procurement within projects to drive best value for money and continuing improvements from its contractual terms. 9. Responsible for ensuring that project budgets are managed efficiently and in line with corporate priorities and budgetary constraints. 10. Ensure compliance with corporate standards for information systems, security and technology in line with relevant legislation and audit requirements. 11. Manage project start-up, initiation, delivery and closure activities to ensure business and technical solutions are moved seamlessly into operation. 12. Develop and maintain the necessary project documentation, strategies and plans, gaining the appropriate approvals, monitoring and reporting on

Manage and monitor the project team assigned to each project element, applying and adhering to ITMS project management related processes. 15. Report the status of projects in line with agreed ITMS project guidelines to the relevant boards and the ITMS management team. 16. Provide professional leadership to help develop effective project teams across DMU. 17. Develop effective partnerships, representing the Department and the University both internally and externally. 18. Promote effective communication and collaboration with project teams and colleagues to ensure that plans, objectives, strategies and accountabilities are clearly understood and delivered. 19. Build and promote a culture of continuous improvement, increasing the quality of services delivered to customers and clients. 20. Identify and manage health and safety risks according to the University s policies and procedures. 21. Take responsibility for ensuring that the university s strategic equality plans are in place and provide regular reports on progress. 22. Treat all DMU staff, students, contractors and visitors with dignity and respect.
