1 FACULTY OF HEALTH AND LIFE SCIENCES School of Nursing and Midwifery Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Adult Nursing Permanent, Full time, although Part time and secondment may be considered Grade F /G: 32,277-45,954 per annum An eciting opportunity has arisen for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing, to join the School of Nursing and Midwifery. You will be responsible for supporting pre and post registration students through a variety of activities, including teaching and assessing of specific adult nursing and health related subjects at both undergraduate and post graduate level. Applicants must to be able to deliver a high standard of teaching. Possession of contemporary clinical knowledge of adult nursing, wider health care practice, and policy initiatives are essential. You will be epected to work collaboratively with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders. Applicants will support both students and mentors in clinical placements in a variety of care settings at local and regional level. As part of the team you will be involved in research, eternal income generation and international activities. For the Senior Lecturer post a Master's degree is essential. For the Lecturer post, evidence of relevant post graduate study is required. Current NMC Registration is essential for both either post. Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development is also essential. An appropriate teaching qualification is desirable. We would particularly welcome individuals with a Doctorate. 2 Job Description Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing Health & Life Sciences Grade F /G Duties of the role Overall purpose of the role The purpose of the role is to provide epertise and leadership in the delivery of contemporary adult health across the school and contribute to the teaching and support of students on a range of undergraduate and post graduate nursing programmes. This includes the preparation and delivery of lectures, seminars, tutorials and assessment. The role will also involve personal tutoring, clinical visits and formal support for clinical areas and the administrative responsibility associated with teaching commitments. The role of a lecturer / senior lecturer adult nursing involves contact with a number of students who are eperienced practitioners on CPD from local and regional NHS and non NHS organisations, as well as undergraduate students on the BSc pre-registration programme. Main duties and responsibilities Teaching and Learning Support Design teaching material and deliver either across a range of modules within a programme/ course of study Develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches appropriate to a variety of settings from small groups to large lectures. Set, mark and assess work and eaminations and provide feedback to students Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking. Supervise student work, projects and placements, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems. Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement. Contribute to the planning, design and development of curricula. Research and Scholarship Contribute to research, EIG and international activities and developments within the Division and School. Etend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and appropriate eternal activities. Develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity Liaison and networking

3 Duties of the role Build eternal contacts and participate in internal networks for the echange of information and to form relationships for future collaboration. Managing people Manage own teaching, scholarly and administrative activities. Act as a mentor for students in the capacity of personal tutor. Co-ordinate the work of others to ensure modules are delivered to the standards required. Teamwork Collaborate with academic and practice colleagues on module, programme and curriculum development and changes and the implementation of assessment procedures Contribute to the accreditation of courses and quality control processes. Attend and contribute to module team meetings. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and respond to student s needs. Assist with administrative duties associated with admissions. Planning and managing resources Other As module leader or tutor, co-ordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and epectations are met. Be responsible for administrative duties in areas such as eaminations, assessment of progress and student attendance. Perform any other duties relevant to the role and commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required from time to time.
