We would like to welcome Graham and Hannah Turnbull to our school and the rest of their family to our community. Graham and Hannah have come to us from Port Vincent Primary School. Hannah joins the Seahorse class in year 3 and Graham joins the Sharks class in year 7. Fundraising News Student Charity As we are all aware the students are fun fundraising for the Cows in Cambodia charity this year. This is a charity started up by Cosi from South Aussie with Cosi. We were very excited to find out that Cosi himself will attend our community fun day on the 18 th of October where the children will present him with their fundraising money. To support the children he has donated boxes of mini fruit choc and mini honey comb packets for the children to sell at $2.00 a packet ($42.00) a box. With the entire money amount raised going to the Cows in Cambodia Charity. If you and your children would like to sell some of these chocolates to raise money for the charity please come and collect them from the office for selling. Living Fundraiser The parent fundraising group sent home the living fundraiser at the end of last term. Could you please send back the money raised from this or the unsold plants by the end on this week. Please see the attached note for more fundraising information.

2 Behaviour Policy The staff and Governing Council have reviewed the Behaviour Management Procedures at the last meeting. The new revised Procedure is attached to the newsletter. I will go through this procedure with the students on Friday in the whole school meeting and it will take effect as of Monday 10 th August. Please fill in the reply slip at the end of the newsletter and send it back to school by the end of the week. This is a confirmation you have seen the procedure. Sporting Schools The program continues this term with T-ball for 3 weeks beginning on Monday 3 rd August 17 th August, from pm. The program will start a new sport on Monday 24 th August - Monday 14 th September: the sport will be announced closer to the date. Chris Key will be doing the coaching honours once again. Babies We have been blessed with some new additions to our Stansbury school community. I would like to congratulate Karen Shearer (our Playcentre Leader) and her family who have had a beautiful baby boy Nate, as well as Naomi, Graham and Hannah and the rest of their family on the safe arrival of a new baby boy as well Cruise. Now come on Kerri we are waiting for you next. Up and Coming events Week 6 is Book Week. To celebrate book week we will be having a dress up as your favourite book character day. During the day the students will be participating in a variety of book week activities and then have a tuck day lunch. The day will cost the students $5.00 to wear a costume and have tuck lunch. More details will be sent home closer to the day. Birthdays and Parties Birthday Cakes We have been very lucky at school this term with both Rhegan and Zac bringing in birthday cakes to share with the other students. It was great that both cakes were large enough to allow all students to have some cake. If you are planning on sending in birthday cake please be mindful there are 13 children in each class or 26 children altogether. Party Invitations We do ask that you are respectful of other children feelings when giving out party invitations. If the whole class is invited they can be given out before school or at the end of the day, however if the whole class is not invited we ask you to please give out invitations outside of school. SYP Basketball On Wednesday 29th July Emily and Jessica went to knockout basketball at Minlaton and played with students from Curramulka in the year 5/6 girls competition. There were three teams, Maitland Lutheran year 5 s, Maitland Lutheran year 6 s and Curramulka. Curramulka had two draws, one win, and one loss. Maitland Lutheran year 6 s won the day and Curramulka came second by only one point. The whole team played really well and a great day was enjoyed by all. Congratulations Emily and Jessica. 3 EXCURSIONS / VISITORS / SPECIAL EVENTS National Schools Tree Planting Day Plus Had fun meeting new people. We liked the groups. It was fun. Learnt how to plant trees. We got to dig, get dirty and make mud. We got to use a hammer to put in the stakes. Worked as a team. Keep us and the environment clean and safe. Minus Written by the R-5 students It was cold and windy Didn t go long enough Had to walk up and down It was hard to get the plant out The tree lines were a bit confusing Some people did not work properly Got shoes muddy Interesting Learnt how to take care of the environment Learnt how to plant trees Plants are awesome, important and how to look after them Plants were very interesting Learnt how to dig a bowl and then water the trees Learnt how to look after the environment

4 TREE PLANTING DAY! On Friday 24 th July the year 6/7 s went to Curramulka to help the school plant trees. We planted trees at the conservation park. We planted around 40 trees. Graham, Kirsty and Zac stood up and gave a great speech about our school NRM project and its progress. All of the other schools including Port Vincent, Warooka, Yorketown, Edithburgh and Curramulka all did a presentation as well. Overall we had a great day. By Kirsty, Graham and Zac

6 BEHIND THE CLASSROOM WALLS Last term students were all busy with Mrs Campion completing different Art pieces. The Seahorses made puppets and the Sharks made large heads. They were all presented at the last assembly.

7 More Amazing Big Head photos are on display in the Library. Well done to all the children they did look fantastic!!!

8 Earth s Place in Space Year 4 and 5 Science. The year 4 and 5 students have been learning about Earth and space in science. They made models of Earth and the moon. Patterns, Patterns everywhere in the Seahorse classroom. This term the Seahorse students have been learning about Patterns in Maths Lessons.
