1 Term 3 Newsletter 2015 Principals Message: Shane Meyer Spring has arrived!! It s so wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun after the cold and wet winter. With the finer weather comes fantastic opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and already Term 4 is looking action-packed with activities, camps and excursions. I d like to thank both staff and students for their efforts this term. Term 3 is a real hard-working term and it has been pleasing to see so many students showing perseverance and determination as they complete their tasks. Many students are making great progress in all areas of their schooling and should be congratulated for their achievements. This term we have continued our focus on Choosing Respect. Each week at assembly we talk about RESPECT and acknowledge students who have demonstrated respect through their actions. We hope to see RESPECT become more than just a word to our students and ultimately become a part of their character that is easily seen in the way they live and interact with others both here at school and when they leave. More students have progressed with their drivers licence and we hope to see even more complete their Keys for Life in Term 4. Wongutha is committed to seeing all Wongutha CAPS graduates return home to be capable, safe and responsible drivers. It s been a good term and we trust all the students will enjoy the holiday break and stay safe. Thanks also to the parents and supporters of Wongutha CAPS for helping our students in their journey to be the best that they can be. We look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4 and can t wait to celebrate all the great student achievements at our end of year prize night. 4 Wongutha played a great game against Esperance and some of the Wongutha Staff. At the start and end of the game they took time to remember their friend Jackson Rose who passed away this term.

5 BUSINESS CLASS WORK EXPERIENCE CAMP This term the Business Class drove to Albany for a camp. We have been studying Plan Skills Development talking about what sort of jobs the girls think they might want to do when they leave school and how to dress appropriately for different work environments. This trip was a reward for attendance at school, wearing the required business attire and for most of the class, their FIRST EVER DAY AT WORK EXPERIENCE Well done! Dekoda & Teagan went to the Albany Visitors Centre Bella, Chloe & Shayleigh went to Great Southern Grammar School Thank you to both the AVC and GSG for their hospitality. This inaugural camp was a huge success and we couldn t have done it without you! Of course there was also lots of shopping, fish and chips on the beach, sightseeing and quality time

6 Bushrangers Camp and Tree Planting 31/8/2015 On Thursday the 26 th of August we went to a Bushranger s Camp to the Duke. We were in school till after recess, then we packed up the buses and left. When we got there we set up camp and our cooking stations for our different Bushrangers groups. About 3pm we got in our groups and started to get ready to start cooking our own dinner, there were about 6 different groups mixed boys and girls. While our dinner was cooking, we socialised with the other students. When our dinner was cooked we jumped on the bus and went to the beach. At the beach we played footy and some of us walked along the beach and took some photos, it was beautiful. Before it got to 5, we went back to our camping site and got ready to eat our dinner. My group was green and it had 3 girls and 5 boys. After dinner we played a game called spot light. 3 teams were hiding and the other teams were the catcher. They gave us about 1 minute to hide around the camp site. The team with the least students catch win point for their team. After that game we all chilled around the fires that each team had and had a cup of tea. As it got late all the boys went back to their camp site which was further from us. After they left we went to sleep. The next day Shania and I got our fire going before the boys got here for our group. When they got here we start getting ready to cook breakfast. After breakfast we went back to the beach for the day. Most of the others went fishing and some chilled at the beach. At noon we went back at the park and had lunch. After lunch we then packed up to head back to Wongutha. Tamara Cox
