We support disadvantaged young people through our sports themed educational programmes to make a positive change in their lives and to unlock their true potential. We are delighted to have the opportunity for a new Fundraising Manager to join our team and support our continued growth. For more information, please visit or call Job Vacancy Summary The new Fundraising Manager will be an experienced and skilled fundraiser. Working directly with the Chief Executive, and as part of the Senior Management Team, you will lead on the overall fundraising operations of the charity with a hands on approach statutory/public sector grants, trusts and foundations, major donors/wealthy individuals, corporate supporters, individual/small donors, community fundraising and online giving. You will have the support of other staff who have a small amount of capacity to contribute to the fundraising activities. You will also be instrumental in developing the fundraising strategy of the organisation, as well as leading the Finance & Fundraising committee group. This is a new and exciting point in Sport 4 Life s journey! You will significantly contribute to the charity s continued growth, raising funds to support hundreds more disadvantaged young people to make a positive change in their lives. 1

2 Job Description Basic Details Job Title Fundraising Manager Job Reference 0025 Location Contract Sport 4 Life UK HQ, Suite 2B, Morcom House, Ledsam Street, Ladywood, Birmingham B16 8DN 18 months fixed term (with view to permanent contract if successful) Salary (Gross pa) 30,000 (Band 5) Hours of work Full time (37.5 hours per week) 8.30am 4.30pm Monday Friday Additional unsociable hours as necessary, from time to time (TOIL available) Start date (By latest) Monday 14th September 2015 Annual leave Application form 25 days plus public holidays or through the Sport 4 Life website ( sport4life.org.uk/fundraisingmanager ) Deadline Thursday 30th July :00 Interviews Week commencing Monday 3rd and/or Monday 10th August 2015 Job Description Reporting to Job purpose Duties & responsibilities Chief Executive and Board of Trustees As part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will play a significant role in the growth and development of the charity specifically to lead and manage the fundraising functions with responsibility for raising the necessary funds to sustain and expand Sport 4 Life s charitable activities. Strategy 1. Develop and implement the Fundraising Strategy lead the review and implantation of the strategy 2. Supporting the Marketing & Insight Manager in developing and implementing a Marketing Strategy to raise Sport 4 Life s profile and facilitate income generation 3. Lead and chair the Finance & Fundraising committee sub group 2

3 Fundraising Statutory/Public Sector Grants, Trusts and Foundations 1. Re apply to funders where we have had previous success 2. Develop a streamlined approach to identifying new funders 3. Build relationships with key decision makers amongst main funders 4. Take a hands on approach to new statutory and public sector grants, seeing them through to completion inclusive of consultation, statistics, research, funder feedback etc. Corporate, Major and Individual Donors 1. Identify and engage new major and individual donors 2. Build new, strong, long term relationships with major donors 3. Create and develop a new donor database Community Fundraising 1. Identify creative ways to attract, engage and retain new supporters 2. Develop creative and innovative fundraising campaigns to generate income and raise profile 3. Conduct a research and feasibility report into a potential annual Sport 4 Life fundraiser to raise significant unrestricted funds, and implement if achievable 4. Lead on the fundraising element of the Sport 4 Life 10 year anniversary party (scheduled for 2016/17) 5. Proactively research awards, recognition and other opportunities to raise the profile of Sport 4 Life s work Reporting, Targets and M&E 1. Work and liaise with the Operations Manager in the reporting requirements for existing funders 2. Work to agreed targets and KPIs 3. In partnership with the Marketing & Insight Manager, develop Sport 4 Life s SROI function to better showcase evidence / impact 4. Critically analyse fundraising data to dictate future strategy / process 5. Manage the fundraising budget 6. Prepare regular fundraising reports to present to stakeholders, SMT and the Board of Trustees 7. Update the Sport 4 Life Fundraising Log 8. Ensure all donors and supporters receive the highest standards of donor care and stewardship Leadership and Management 1. Participate in the SMT to provide detailed finance and fundraising updates, strategic advice and to support the general management of the charity 2. Build a strong culture of fundraising across the organisation 3

4 3. Work with the Marketing and Insight Manager in developing Sport 4 Life s outcome evaluation and M&E process 4. Manage the additional fundraising functions available within the charity including fundraising commitments from the Chief Executive, the Operations Manager, the Project Manager and outsourced third party fundraisers 5. Be current with developments and compliance in fundraising, data protection and codes of practice (e.g. Institute of Fundraising) General 1. Develop a detailed knowledge of Sport 4 Life s activities 2. Carry out other reasonable duties as required Scope of authority 1. Accountable to the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive 2. Co ordinate the fundraising functions, including third party suppliers Person Specification Education and qualifications Knowledge and experience Skills and abilities Educated to a degree standard, a recognised fundraising qualification or proven experience at a senior level 1. Strong evidence of fundraising success from a diverse range of funding streams 2. Proven track record in working towards and exceeding income generation targets, with success in securing five and six figure grants 3. Demonstrable experience of developing successful fundraising functions that support organisational growth 4. Practical knowledge of the youth, charity (and community sport) sectors 5. Proven track record in effectively co ordinating the fundraising functions of a charity / organisation 6. Proven track record in effectively managing budgetary and financial tasks 7. Knowledge of current fundraising guidelines and legislation 1. Ability to write clear evidence of persuasive writing that follows a structure and is bespoke to different funders 2. Ability to plan and implement strategic plans 3. Proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships with a range of external supporters and influence and negotiate with external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes 4. Excellent co ordination and organisational skills with the ability to deliver results in fundraising with and through the fundraising functions of an organisation 5. Ability to use a range of fundraising techniques related to securing unrestricted 4

5 and restricted funding 6. Proven influencing skills 7. First class communicator with the ability to communicate the Charity s vision and activities to a range of audiences / funders 8. Financial management and budgetary control skills 9. Effective use of media to inform and bring about positive outcomes 10. Ability to identify opportunities to create new partnerships and projects in support of the charity s targets 11. Highly developed written skills with proven ability to write a range of materials including prose that stirs the emotions suitable for different audiences 12. Highly developed oral communication skills 13. Excellent research and analytical skills 14. Excellent skills with word and excel (and/or Google Docs and Sheets) General 1.
