1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DIRECTORATE: REPORTING TO: LOCATION: Senior Donor Acquisition Executive Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Acquisition Manager Featherstone Street, London EC1Y 8SL Context: At Action on Hearing Loss (formerly the RNID), we work towards a vision for a world where hearing loss doesn t limit or label people, where tinnitus is silenced and where people value and look after their hearing. Currently, more than 80% of people in the UK live with hearing loss, or know someone who does. We understand the damage it can cause to relationships and the impact it can have on well-being and life chances. We fight to change the world for people with hearing loss. We have three clear aims. 1) To find a cure for hearing loss within a generation. 2) To ensure people with hearing loss have access to help in every town across the UK. 3) To ensure people with hearing loss are treated equally and with respect. The Fundraising, Marketing and Communication (FMC) team currently raise in the region of 14m per year. This is an exciting time to join the charity, as a new Fundraising and Marketing strategy strives to deliver significant growth, enabling us to increase our reach and impact across the UK. To help achieve this aim, we re looking for a Senior Donor Acquisition Executive to join our top notch team. You d be responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of donor recruitment campaigns including monitoring your own budgets. You ll play a part in a team driving forward an ambitious donor recruitment programme, across multiple channels to multiple audiences. You will be focused and driven, motivated by results and delivering the highest quality donor experience. You will take pride in delivering all activity to a high standard, excited about taking on new challenges and have a track record of achieving results against challenging targets. PURPOSE OF JOB: To change the lives of people with hearing loss by encouraging relationships between the charity and individuals through excellent communication and in turn, delivering and growing the donor base with a view to increasing sustainable, long-term income.

2 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES To efficiently project manage multiple donor acquisition campaigns at any one time across a number of media channels but primarily direct mail, face to face (door to door) fundraising, telemarketing, weekly lottery, raffle and new media. Ensure campaigns are delivered to budget, are timely and meet objectives and advise line manager of any variances in a timely fashion. To work closely with fundraisers acting on behalf of Action on Hearing Loss, including training and shadowing on a regular basis. To also inspire and motivate them in their fundraising activities. Monitor campaign response and produce regular reports, including analysis in order to make strategic recommendations for future plans and proactively identify new areas where analysis could inform future strategy. To update the team regularly with a summary of campaign performance via team meetings and s. To process and reconcile invoices and maintain a spreadsheet record of expenditure on activity, monitoring against budget and flagging variances/discrepancies, ensuring that they are processed in line with Action on Hearing Loss procedures. To work effectively with internal and external teams as appropriate to deliver and monitor required activity. To ensure that key staff within Action on Hearing Loss are kept informed and briefed on all upcoming supporter recruitment campaigns. To support the Donor Acquisition Manager in the planning, forecasting and management of income and expenditure for the acquisition programme. To effectively monitor competitor activity, suggest new ideas and keep up to date with industry trends, compliance and best practice. To build good relationships with suppliers, including print, fulfilment, creative, door to door and telemarketing agencies to achieve campaign/charity objectives. This will include writing briefs, giving feedback, securing budgets, managing stock and other day to day campaign management requirements. To attend sector meetings and forums where relevant, representing Action on Hearing Loss and briefing the team on any key findings or opportunities. To take part in departmental and cross directorate projects and meetings. To keep abreast of Fundraising and technology trends and keep up to date with all relevant charity law, regulations and codes of practice. To complete any other duties and responsibilities when requested, which are commensurate with this role. To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all relevant law and especially the Institute of Fundraising Code of Practice and

PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALITIES/KNOWLEDGE Industry qualification or appropriate equivalent and good knowledge of charity sector and direct marketing best practice and techniques. Understanding of financial management including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis and commitment to achieving financial targets An excellent knowledge of Microsoft office applications, in particular the use of excel. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision, and to manage several projects at the same time, often with conflicting priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate information in a clear and confident manner to a range of audiences at all levels. Collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. EXPERIENCE: Proven relevant direct marketing experience in charity sector including communicating effectively using different channels to a variety of audiences. Particular emphasis on the door to door fundraising. Excellent attention to detail, including proof reading skills. Experience of project managing multiple direct marketing campaigns to tight deadlines. Experience of working with suppliers to get the best value and developing strong working relationships Experience of using marketing databases. POST: CONTRACT TYPE: SALARY: PROBATIONARY: HOURS: HOLIDAYS: SICKNESS: PENSION: Senior Donor Acquisition Executive Permanent The salary will be c 28,000-32,000 depending on experience Confirmation of appointment is subject to the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period. 35 hours per week but from time to time it may be necessary to work additional hours to complete your duties. The annual leave year is from 1 April to 31 March. The entitlement for this post is 25 days plus 8 days statutory/bank holidays per year. A comprehensive sick pay scheme is provided by Action on Hearing Loss In line with Government legislation (Pensions Act 2008), you will be automatically enrolled into the Action on Hearing Loss Group Personal Pension Plan (GPP) if you meet relevant qualifying criteria. If you are auto enrolled, you will contribute 1% and Action on Hearing Loss will contribute 2%. Further information on automatic enrolment can be found on All Action on Hearing Loss staff who do not belong to Defined Contribution Pension Scheme which was closed to new entrants from 31 May 2012, will be entitled to automatic Life Assurance of 50,000.
