2 Doing Business in Ørland Ørland is experiencing rapid growth as the construction of the fighter plane base is commencing. It is a place with great opportunities for entrepreneurs and established companies especially so for defense related businesses. The municipality has set aside ample acreage in several business parks making it easy to do business minutes away from the air force base. We can also refer you to private developers with acreage and commercial buildings already available, or under construction. Human Resources are available both locally in Ørland and across the fjord in nearby Trondheim. Several employment agencies (temp and permanent) have a presence in Ørland. 4 Visiting Ørland Accommodation is available at several hotels/ motels: Brekstad Gjestehus, Hovde Gård, Ørland Kysthotell, Austrått Camping & Motel and FlexBase. Cafés, bakeries and restaurants provide many choices to meet for a cup of coffee or to go out for lunch or dinner. To enjoy a beer, wine or a drink visit one of the five local pubs and bars. Visitors can cover their shopping needs at the many shops and boutiques found at the peninsula s largest shopping mall, as well as at the many other stores in the city of Brekstad. Several historic tourist attractions make Ørland an interesting place to visit. Some of the most important are Austrått Manor, Fort Austrått, Uthaug Museum and spectacular Iron Age and Viking Age burial mounds.

5 Travelling to and from Ørland Daily roundtrip flights between Ørland and Oslo. Automobile ferries crossing the Trondheim fjord leave every 30 minutes during peak hours (every 60 minutes the rest of the day). Passenger ferries to Trondheim arrive and depart 8 times per day during the workweek. Some of these connect to the islands of Hitra and Frøya as well as the city of Kristiansund. Distances in time: Trondheim: 1 hour with passenger ferry. Slightly above 2 hours with car (and ferry) Oslo: 1 hour to Gardermoen via aircraft. 8 hours with car (and ferry). Værnes International airport: 2.5 hours with car (and ferry). 2 hours with passenger ferry and airport shuttle. Thanks to the short commute, many live in Ørland, but work or study in Trondheim and vice versa.
