Significant postqualification experience working with psychiatric patients will be extremely advantageous. The incumbent will undergo in-service training in key performance areas. The successful applicant will be responsible for interfacing with the patient population, including: - Administration of structured clinical interviews and administration of various assessment scales (an assessment of competence may be undertaken) - Follow-up of study participants according to research protocol 19 June 2012 Page 1 of 6 HR191
2 - On-site translation of clinical interviews and assessment scales Significant clinical insight into psychiatric illnesses is essential because the successful applicant will be required, using the tools and training provided, to make a diagnosis for research purposes. The incumbent will also be responsible for the administrative management of various ongoing studies, including monitoring recruitment, management of records, ensuring compliance of studies to audit criteria, ordering supplies, liaising between various project researchers, ensuring samples are transported to the lab, electronic data entry etc. The post will be based at the UCT Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Groote Schuur Hospital (J2) and is funded by the Department of Psychiatry. Regular independent travel to the Drakenstein sub-district, Paarl, Western Cape, will also be required. The projects with which the incumbent will be involved may change as current projects complete recruitment and new projects begin. 19 June 2012 Page 2 of 6 HR191
