The role of Theory of Mind ability in preschool-aged children s willingness to challenge gender-based group stereotypes. The data were collected and analyzed at the University of Maryland while Dr. Mulvey was a graduate student, and the collaboration continued during her transition to the University of South Carolina.

Children's associations of race, wealth, and status in the U.S. Duties: Assisted with the execution of one study on this topic including instrument development, pilot testing, data collection, co-authorship on conference presentations, and co-authorship on anticipated publications. Oct Present Graduate Research Assistant, Project titled: Obligatory helping in toddlers. (PIs: Prof J. Beier and Prof M. Killen, University of Maryland). Investigated 20- to 36-month-olds behavioral responses to individuals who do not help others, to assess their expectations regarding the obligatory nature of helping. Duties: Assisted with the development and execution of one study on this topic including the development of an experimental paradigm, pilot testing, data collection, and co-authorship on anticipated conference presentations and publications. Aug Present Graduate Research Assistant, Project titled: Children and adolescents interpretations of peer-based social exclusion. (PI: Shelby Cooley and Prof. Melanie Killen, University of Maryland). Study investigates children s perceptions of intergroup social exclusion, with a specific focus on children s and adolescents evaluations of exclusion on the basis of group membership, and the extent to which social reasoning about exclusion is related to racial identity, perceptions of status, unfair treatment, and intergroup contact Duties: Assisted with the development and execution of one study on this topic including instrument development, data collection, and co-authorship on conference presentations. How children interpret intentions in dyadic, interracial peer encounters.
