5 MANCHESTER - Capital of the North Manchester is widely regarded as the capital of the North of England. It s a vibrant and multicultural city where students from all over the world feel especially welcome due to the diverse communities that have made the city their home. Famous for its music scene, lively nightlife and of course football, the city provides cultural and leisure opportunities to suit all tastes. Manchester s cost of living is relatively low, making it ideal if you re looking to experience all the excitement of a major British city without the London price tag. If you would like to get out in to the countryside and experience rural England the Peak District and Lake District national parks are only a short trip away. For travel further afield Manchester Airport offers regular flights to more than 200 destinations around the world.
6 BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT real-world experiences are a feature of each of our courses these might include business simulations, national and international field visits and visits from guest speakers 6
7 Business can be as creative, technical and inspiring as it is enterprising. To become a skilled, informed businessperson, you ll need a rich knowledge of the disciplines surrounding your core subject, how industries work together and how people behave. The fascinating theory you ll study complements the leading-edge industry skills you ll gain through the real-world experiences that are a feature of each of our business and management degree courses. These might include work placements, business simulations, national and international field visits and visits from guest speakers. Our business degree courses have a management focus and are suitable for ambitious individuals who aspire to work at a managerial level in their chosen specialism. Several of our degree courses cover international and European markets, as well as the UK. This knowledge can be as important for a business professional based regionally as it is to someone aiming to live and work outside the UK. Whatever your degree specialism, you ll gain insight into both the operational and strategic sides of business. Successful managers and businesspeople know how their organisations and industries work, from their day to day running to their place in the global market. We focus, too, on the ethics and impact of business and management disciplines, for example the effects of tourism on local populations. We believe that our graduates should be equipped to make the right business decisions - for themselves and for the teams and communities they interact with. Business and management is a far-reaching and diverse subject. At The Manchester College, we reflect this breadth and diversity in our business and management degree offer.
