If you are an International student, you should check for any visa restrictions before seeking internship opportunities via our Careers and Employability Service. Employability Award Our KPA Level 3 Award in Employability is a recognised qualification designed to equip students with the skills, attitudes and behaviours that are required to become ready for the workplace. Through the award, you will build a portfolio of achievements from your degree course and additional activities that will demonstrate to employers that you have the ability to succeed in your career. The award will cover two key areas aimed at putting you on the right track to gaining a job: Career development: This is about identifying your career goals by creating a personal career development plan. It also looks into what employers look for in a new employee alongside time management skills they need to develop. Communication: Looking at communication both verbally and non-verbally, team work, presentation skills and creating a positive first impression. The qualification is assessed in a very practical way which complements your degree programme. Over the learning hours you will put together a portfolio which is assessed by your employability coach. All new students joining the first year of an undergraduate degree will be eligible to join the award. If you are a new student joining a four-year course with a foundation year, you will be eligible for the award when you join Year One. Launching in 2015, our Level 4 Employability Award will give students the opportunity to progress on to a higher level employability qualification on successful completion of their Level 3 Award. Keep an eye on our website for more details. Our aim is to bridge the gap between the specific attributes that employers are looking for, and the skills that graduates hold as they enter the workplace. Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including learning videos, reading materials and online testing. A range of assessment methods is used including written exams and coursework, together with group and individual projects. Career prospects and further study The degree can be used as a platform into a wide range of business careers, including financial analysis, general management, human resources, events management and marketing management. If you are keen to develop your skills further you can progress on to postgraduate or professional qualifications, which are also available with Kaplan Holborn College and Kaplan Financial.
