3 THE OPPORTUNITY VICE PRESIDENT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Working out of the head office in Surrey, BC, the Vice President, Information Technology (VP, IT) currently has four direct reports, 90+ indirect reports, and reports directly to the Chief Business Transformation Officer. S/he is responsible for the management of the IT Development, Quality Assurance, Information Security, and Service Delivery functions, as well as ongoing production support during urgent situations and business-as-usual IT operations. The VP, IT has budget responsibilities of $12M for capital expenditures, and $5M for operating costs. S/he is responsible for ensuring that technology is leveraged as a key enabler of the corporate and Information Technology Group (ITG) strategies. The Vice President will utilize best practices, including implementation of modern tools and services to increase quality, efficiency, and delivery of effective configuration management, and oversight of development and maintenance of standards and controls to the team structure, processes, and documentation. The VP, Information Technology provides strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in the management of the IT Development, Quality Assurance, Information Security, and Service Delivery functions and teams, as well as oversees the teams responsibilities to directly support projects, changes (called "Business Requests"), ongoing production support during urgent situations, and business-as-usual IT operations. The Vice President will exhibit considerable business strategy and operational management acumen. Individual Key Contributions/Responsibilities Business Management Accountable to the senior ITG team members to ensure that technology systems, framework, and processes are aligned, as well as achieve business results; Oversee and govern the development and presentation of project status and progress reports to quickly and accessibly communicate to multiple target audiences, including senior management and client business units. Communication Effectively communicate and educate on IT Service Delivery, Information Security, Development, and Total Quality principles, standards, and governance to stakeholders throughout the organization. Customer Focus Develop strong relationships with and between business clients and ITG team members through proactive, frequent, and effective channels of communication; Oversee the delivery of creative and effective solutions to business problems, which align to business strategies and objectives as well as with the IT Strategy; Maintain and direct relations among clients, ITG team members, and various departments in such a way that reflects company project policies and provides resource and support services to all levels of management. 4 Governance Practices Leads strategic planning and internal assessments to provide structure for, and oversee the development and maintenance of, company standards, processes, documentation, and implementation of modern tools to increase quality, efficiency, and delivery of work. Strategic Leadership Guide the IT Service Delivery, Information Security, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to success and continuously seek opportunity for improvement; Provide leadership and direction to teams on soft skills, including communications (formal and informal), partnering, problem solving, and vendor relationship management. Resource/People Management Ensure people and technology resources are effectively employed and project and "business as usual" work is prioritized in alignment with corporate strategy; Provide cost/benefit analysis of alternatives (in-house, outsourcing, contractor) to provide high quality, well controlled services; Fosters and leads a highly motivational climate by providing coaching, training, performance management, career development and guidance. Vendor Management Working with the other teams in Coast Capital Savings including EPMO, Procurement, and General Counsel to develop positive working relationships with key vendor managers and Subject Matter Experts, so as to facilitate the completion of Development and QA work (e.g. Temenos) when working on vendor-developed products. Analytical Planning and Problem-Solving Apply critical planning abilities and principles of effective operational management for extensive project co-ordination and achievement of strategic, long-term goals; Set high standards of performance and output by establishing goals and priorities which maximize available resources to deliver results in accordance with internal organizational objectives; Demonstrate forward-thinking business acumen, applying management and co-ordination skills to achieve stakeholder and customer interest by overseeing and implementing appropriate strategy and execution on all levels. THE PERSON Required Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership experience within a complex organizational structure. In addition, the ideal candidate possesses: A university degree in the field of Computer Science or Business Administration; a Master s degree in one of these fields is preferred; COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS CREDIT UNION - Vice President, Information Technology 3

5 Considerable knowledge of project management, business theory, business processes and budgeting; A minimum of ten years of progressive experience, including at least five years specifically in a senior leadership role overseeing an IT service delivery, development, information security, and/or quality assurance team; Experience in the financial industry and with Temenos T24 would be considered an asset; Understanding of banking e-systems such as internet online banking, mobile (i.e. Smartphone) banking and mobile payments; Solid understanding of technical infrastructure, information systems technologies, systems administration, software development, quality assurance, and enterprise architecture; Enterprise leadership skills including strategic thinking, business acumen, coaching for performance, relationship building, and complex decision making; Strong public speaking skills, verbal and written communication skills, and negotiation skills; Ability to gain consensus amongst diverse stakeholders.
