1 1 UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA SCHOOL OF NURSING Excellence in a Caring Environment TOTAL PLAN FOR EVALUATION The Total Plan for Evaluation has been developed by the School of Nursing to assess the quality and effectiveness of its programs. It demonstrates our commitment to excellence and provides evidence of quality improvement. Expected results reflect the following documents: Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Principles of Accreditation: Foundation for Quality Enhancement (2008) Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Education Programs (2009) Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) Rules and Regulations (2009) In addition to the University of West Georgia (UWG) and the School of Nursing (SON) evidentiary sources identified in the plan, the following professional documents and publications from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), American Nurses Association (ANA), and American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), and the National League for Nursing (NLN) are utilized: The Essentials of Baccalaureate Nursing Education for Professional Nursing Practice (AACN, 2008) Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (ANA, 2004) The Essentials of Master s Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (AACN, 1996) Joint Position Statement on Nursing Administration Education (AACN/AONE, 1997) Essential Clinical Resources for Nursing s Academic Mission (AACN, 1999) End of Program Competencies and Required Clinical Experiences for the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) (AACN, May 2006) Core Competencies for Nurse Educators (NLN, 2005) Data are collected from the SON community of interest students, alumni, and regional health care agencies as follows: Student Evaluations of Instruction are completed every semester. Student advisory meetings are held every spring. Community advisory surveys are conducted every spring. Students complete exit surveys at the end of their final semester of nursing coursework. Alumni surveys are completed one year and three years post-graduation. Employers of alumni are asked to evaluate performance on year post-graduation. In addition to the evidentiary sources included in the Total Plan for Evaluation Data, internal and external evaluators will review: SON standing committee and undergraduate/graduate/son faculty meetings minutes.
