1 The baccalaureate curriculum is an upper division course of study based on a liberal education and essential core competencies, knowledge, values and role development, preparing the professional nurse to: A.1.4 Strategy: Prepare future nurses and enhance the knowledge and skills of nurses so that they will be able to take on ever-expanding roles in the delivery of health care and in educating patients. Achievement Measures Changes Made Budget Achievement Measures Data Collection 2005 Graduates Strategy: (See Column 2) A Increased enrollment of generic students; UTMB Hospital and SON developed residency program for graduates selecting employment at UTMB Initiated accelerated program for individuals with a previous degree (Bacc2) cooperatively with UT Houston (Format: Theory is taught on-line, seminar is taught face to face seminar for integration). Strategy Increased demand for classroom and clinical faculty. There is a shortage of faculty % of one faculty the first year 10% thereafter. Core Competencies: 1.Critically apply assessment, diagnosis, planning and evaluation and other processes for decision-making and intervention. 1.i. Make accurate clinical judgments to plan and implement nursing care. ii. Assess and evaluate treatment results, medication results, psychosocial interventions. i. Licensing Exam: NCLEX-RN pass rate > or = state and national results. i. Licensing Exam - BSN 91.6% pass rate; (classroom) - Bacc2 100% pass rate. (online BSN program for individuals with a degree in another field) - RN-BSN. (on-line BSN program for individuals with an Associate Degree & RN license) On line accelerated program still requires intense technology, and faculty time for courses, grading and clinical. The BENCHMARKS are Satisfaction with: (a) Quality of Nursing Instruction, (b) Course Lecture and Interaction, (c) Classmates, (d) Work and Class size, (e) Core Competencies, (f) Professional Values, (g) Technical Skills, (h) Core Knowledge, (i) Role Development, (j) Facilities and Administration, and (k) Overall Satisfaction with the Program Effectiveness. Program meets or exceeds EBI select 6, Carnegie Class or all institutions Benchmarks. Frequency: Yearly -BSN met all EBI Core Essentials but did not meet overall satisfaction criteria. (classroom) -Bacc2 met all EBI criteria. (on-line) -RN-BSN exceeded all criteria. (on-line) ii. EBI Survey Results 2005 Graduates: Action Plan implemented by BSN Team to address low satisfaction of BSN students. Recorded in Evaluation plan cost: Educational Benchmarking Inc. contract is $895 per year for senior exit, $1095 for Alumni and $795 for BSN Team minutes 2005-employer surveys. Exit Exams and Review course: Contracting with outside agencies for a Review course and normed exams adds additional items to students' fees. 3. Use effective oral and written communication to facilitate information sharing, care giving, professional relationships, and collaboration. 3.i. Write clear, accurate, iii Exit exam. Program met standard across 15 factors. In the faculty continued the process by revising and reducing the program from 5 to 4 semesters for implementation in fall Faculty reviewed and systematically reduced the content laden courses in response to feedback from students in the EBI exit survey. The goal is to support student learning with essential content. In 2005 Team Based learning was introduced in several courses to support the shift in class room teaching.
