7 Chapter 1: Remote Feature Activation Overview Remote Feature Activation (RFA) is a web-based appication that is used to create and deiver icense fies for Avaya products. The icense fies are created using information from the customer and the SAP order.the SAP ordering information can be entered directy into SAP or Avaya and Avaya BusinessPartners can use the Order Messaging/OA Price Too. RFA user requirements To meet the requirements to access RFA you must: Be one of the foowing: - An Avaya associate or designee with a vaid Avaya HRID number. This requirement aso incudes the Variabe Workforce associates. - An approved BusinessPartner with a vaid BusinessPartner number. - An approved Avaya contractor. This individua typicay works for Avaya without a vaid HRID number. Have a computer equipped with: - Internet Exporer 5.0 or ater - 18 bit encryption - Internet access to the RFA web site - The supported monitor resoution of 800 X 600 Issue 4.1 November 007 7

8 Remote Feature Activation Overview Be registered and authenticated for each of the Avaya products in which you wish to create or modify a icense fie: - To be registered means you have been given a SSO (Singe Sign On) ogin and are identified in the RFA database. - To be authenticated means that your coach or your Avaya Group Authorization Identification (GAI) manager has approved your access to RFA. For information on what a GAI is see Group Authorization Identification (GAI) on page 10. RFA Design configuration RFA does not provide design configurations. Avaya configurations must continue to be engineered using the existing toos and processes. The RFA process begins with an approved and accurate SAP order. A correct SAP order is key to the successfu creation of the icense fie. RFA Reiabiity and avaiabiity RFA has been designed for high reiabiity and high avaiabiity. RFA is normay avaiabe 4 hours a day, seven days a week. However, pease be aware that there are factors that exist that wi imit RFA avaiabiity for up to tweve hours at a time. These factors incude maintenance, interactions with other systems that are not avaiabe, etc. The times for schedued RFA outages are posted on the RFA Information page at Pease check the RFA Information page reguary for the most current information. Note: Note: It is highy recommended that you create a icense fie as soon as you have a the needed information. Do not wait unti the day of instaation to obtain the icense fie. 9 Registration information Registration for Avaya Associates To og on to RFA you must have a vaid Singe Sign On (SS0) ogin and password. The SSO system provides access security for many Avaya appications, incuding RFA. You do not have to register for a SSO ogin if you are an Avaya associate.! Important: Important: Check your persona information in RFA for accuracy. Make sure your POST information is correct. Compete the foowing steps to register in RFA for a product famiy: 1. Access the RFA web site at This ink takes you to the SSO ogin site.. After you enter your SSO ogin and password the RFA Information page appears. 3. Cick Register to Use RFA for a product famiy. 4. Seect the product famiy from the drop-down menu: - Seect the job function that most cosey resembes the job function that you perform. You can find a detaied description for each job function on the RFA Information page under the RFA Job Function Descriptions ink. - Compete the required information and cick Submit. - Your coach automaticay receives an e-mai that must be approved before you can become an RFA user. Registration for Avaya BusinessPartners To og onto RFA you must have a vaid Singe Sign On (SS0) ogin and password. The SSO system provides access security for many Avaya appications, incuding RFA. Make sure that your business card information is correct. The business card information is the same as your SSO information. Ensure that your e-mai address is accurate. You can update this information from the SSO ogin screen. Compete the foowing steps to register for a product famiy: 1. Access the RFA web site at This ink takes you to the SSO ogin site. If you aready have a SSO ogin, enter your ogin and password. If you do not have a SSO ogin, cick New User and compete the required information. After you enter your SSO ogin and SSO password the system dispays the RFA Information page.. Seect one of the foowing user types: - Tier 1 BusinessPartner if you purchase directy from Avaya. - Tier BusinessPartner if you purchase from a Tier 1 BusinessPartner. - Contractor if you are a contractor working for Avaya and do not have an Avaya HRID number. 4. Enter a Group Authorization Identification (GAI) number. Cick Show GAI Name to verify that you entered the correct GAI. For more information on GAI, see Group Authorization Identification (GAI) on page Enter the e-mai address that your company provided to Avaya to receive the RFA generated e-mai. RFA uses this e-mai address to e-mai your request to access RFA to your company. Avaya must receive a repy to the e-mai before you can become an authenticated RFA user. Group Authorization Identification (GAI) A GAI is a unique number assigned to each BusinessPartner in RFA. This number is incuded on the system record of each icense. A BusinessPartner must have their GAI on a system record in order to access it. The GAI for a Tier II BusinessPartner is avaiabe from the Tier I BusinessPartner. During the creation of a system record, the Tier I BusinessPartner must incude the Tier II BusinessPartner s GAI. Shoud a BusinessPartner require access to a system record that does not contain their GAI, they can compete a form caed Transfer System Record to a Different BP ocated on the RFA Information page. 11 Feature Keywords Feature Keywords RFA creates a icense fie based on the materia codes that appear in the SAP order. RFA maps between the SAP materia codes and the features and capacities in the icense fie. Whie the icense fie does not contain the materia codes themseves, it does contain the features and the capacities that wi be activated for the system. The features and capacities are represented by Feature Keywords. Feature Keywords are Engish text that uniquey identify which features and capacities to activate. A ist of Feature Keywords for each RFA supported product, except Communication Manager, can be found in Chapter : Important Product Information on page 17. For a compete isting of the Communication Manager Keywords see the RFA Information page at Vaue types Each feature, feature capacity, or customer entitement, fas into one of the foowing types. Type I: The Type I Features tabe contains the software features that are entitements and the features that are purchased by the customer. Type I features have an on and off, or a yes and no setting. Type II: The Type II Features tabe contains features that have a vaue or capacity. For some Feature Keywords, the Setting coumn can be used to set the vaue for the Feature Keyword. Type III: The Type III Features Tabe contains registration features that have a product ID, a reease, and a capacity setting. Host IDs and seria numbers RFA uses either the Host ID or the seria number to identify the Avaya product. Each Host ID or seria number must be unique within its product group and therefore can ony be used once. You may use the same Host ID or seria number for mutipe RFA icenses if the icenses are created for different products. Issue 4.1 November

12 Remote Feature Activation Overview For products using WebLM as their icensing server, the Host ID of the WebLM server is used in RFA. For information on how to obtain the Host ID of your server, see Tabe 1. Tabe 1: Host ID information tabe Operating System Command Description Windows ipconfig/a A 1 digit hexadecima physica address is shown. Remove the hyphens before entering the address in RFA. AIX /usr/bin/uname -m An eight digit hexadecima Host ID is returned. Linux /sbin/ifconfig -a grep HWaddr A 1 digit hexadecima HWaddr is returned. Remove the coons before enter the address in RFA Soaris ifconfig -a An eight digit hexadecima Host ID is returned. Note: Note: If WebLM is aready instaed on the server, you can dispay the primary Host ID of your server after you og into WebLM by cicking Server Properties. RFA Swap-Out functionaity The RFA Swap-Out functionaity is used when a icensed server needs to be repaced. The Swap-Out functionaity creates a new RFA system record that contains the new Host ID or the seria number. A RFA supported products use the Swap-Out functionaity. For Communication Manager and Branch Gateways an authenticated user can perform the swap-out. For a other RFA supported products, the RFA Swap-Out functionaity can ony be performed by a Tier III Avaya Goba Services associate. 18 Important Product Information Advanced IP Phone Features Advanced IP Phone Features is a reease of firmware for the Avaya 4600 series IP phone that is comprised of the Avaya IP Phone appication and a VPN cient. The Avaya 4600 phone uses the VPN cient to estabish a secure IPSec tunne for a traffic incuding signaing, media and appication. The use of the phone is controed by the number of concurrent user icenses that are managed by a WebLM appication residing on a WebLM server. After the VPN tunne is estabished, the phone must obtain a icense from the WebLM server. Once the phone obtains a icense it is aowed to register with Communication Manager. Advanced IP Phone Features uses WebLM as a icensing server. The Host ID of the WebLM server is used in RFA as a unique identifier. This feature is a type 3 feature and wi have a quantity associated with it. If the feature setting is MAX than the setting for this feature is at its aowed maximum. FEAT_ENTERPRISE activates the enterprise icensing on the WebLM server. This feature is a type 1 feature with a on or off setting. When this feature is set to ON, the WebLM server acts as the master WebLM server. 20 Important Product Information Appication Assurance Networking Appication Assurance Networking is a Linux-based appication that runs on specific configurations of IBM eserver xseries 306 and 336 patforms. Appication Assurance Networking performs the foowing functions: Identifies the appications running on the network. Monitors the quaity of service (QoS) provided by the network to each appication session over a specific network path. Determines an aternate network path providing a greater QoS. In rea-time, reroutes appication sessions to better performing paths, without the appications or the users being aware of the reroute. Currenty there is ony one appication under the Appication Assurance Networking product famiy that is icensed by RFA. Appication Assurance Networking uses WebLM as a icensing server. The Host ID of the WebLM server is used in RFA as a unique identifier. 23 Appication Design Environment Appication Design Environment Appication Design Environment (ADE) is the product famiy name within RFA. Diaog Designer (DD) is the ony appication under the ADE product famiy that requires an RFA icense. There are two major components of DD: A deveopment environment that runs on a PC. A run-time component that runs on a web container on a web server. The run-time component is the ony component of DD that is icensed in RFA. Important:! Important: When the Diaog Designer CTI Connector is used through the Appication Enabement Services JTAPI/TSAPI interface, the appropriate number of Appication Enabement VALUE_TSAPI_USERS must be set. This setting may cause a change in the Appication Enabement product famiy icense. The correct number of VALUE_TSAPI_USERS that you enabe is based on the number of supported VRU channes that use CTI simutaneousy. 26 Important Product Information Upgrading to AE You can upgrade to AE from a: Non-RFA windows patform (Avaya CT) CVLAN R9 DEFINITY LAN Gateway (DLG): - Upgrades from DLG co-resident on Communication Manager to AE are supported. - Upgrades from a MAPD board to DLG are not supported. An Upgrade to AE is considered a new insta. You must invoke the new insta functionaity in RFA to perform the upgrade. Upgrading CVLAN R9 to AE Use the foowing process to upgrade CVLAN R9 to AE: 1. Obtain the existing System Identification Number (SID) of the CVLAN R9 to be upgraded to AE.. Ca the hep desk. 3. The hep desk: - Checks the SID to verify that the RFA record is assigned to a CVLAN R9. - Executes the AE Conversion script that converts the CVLAN R9 system record to an AE system record. Upgrading DEFINITY LAN Gateway to AE DEFINITY LAN Gateway (DLG) can be instaed on a MAPD board or co-resident on the same server as Communication Manager. When DLG is co-resident with Communication Manager, an upgrade to AE is considered a new insta in RFA. There is no upgrade path to AE for a DLG on a MAPD board. 27 Appication Enabement (AE) Services CVLAN Server 9.0 for Linux CVLAN is an Appication Programming Interface (API) that aows appications to communicate with Avaya Communication Manager. The communication path between the CVLAN server and the Communication Manager server is made up of one or more ASAI inks. The CVLAN operating environment incudes the foowing: CVLAN cient CVLAN server running Linux 9.0 Communication Manager server CVLAN Cient: The CVLAN cient software runs on a workstation or a server and provides access to the Communication Manager server by way of the CVLAN server. You can obtain the CVLAN cient software from the Avaya web site. You do not need an RFA icense fie for the CVLAN cient software. Refer to Avaya CVLAN Server for 9.0 Linux Instaation and Basic Administration Guide for information on the downoading the CVLAN cient software. CVLAN server: The CVLAN server software runs on a Linux based PC and manages ASAI traffic between the Communication Manager server and the CVLAN cient. The CVLAN server requires an RFA icense fie. In this case, the seria number of the G50 or the G350 can be used for both icense fies because each icense fie is created in a different product group.
