3 Summary f talks 1. Learning Analytics: A Practical View with Educatinal Videgames The Hrizn Reprt designates Learning Analytics as ne f the educatinal-related emerging technlgies, with tw r three years time-t-adptin. This discipline prpses t cllect and analyze all the data derived frm students interactin with nline educatinal resurces (e.g., their activity in LMS), and use the cnclusins inferred frm the analysis t take real-wrd decisins, fr example, t assess students. In this cnference, Ángel Serran will present the thery behind Learning Analytics (steps in the general prcess, state f the art, related prblems...), and sme study cases, develped by the research grup e-ucm, using educatinal videgames. 2. "Frm Raw Data t Intelligent Infrmatin in e-learning: A Case f Study with the Khan Academy Platfrm Nwadays there are many services and e-learning platfrms which reprt very detailed lw level data f interactins between students and e-learning systems. Hwever, in many cases, teachers are verwhelmed with the large amunt f lw-level data and they almst dn t use them as it is nt easy fr them t infer useful infrmatin fr their curses. A majr challenge is hw t use cmputatinal techniques t prcess lw-level data int useful and high-level infrmatin. This presentatin describes sme ideas f learning parameters f high level learning that can be a useful infrmatin fr teachers and students, as well as hw t calculate them frm lwlevel data. It als explains hw t apply them in the Khan Academy platfrm. The many features f analytical data that prvide by default the Khan Academy platfrm are presented, bth lw-level and high-level infrmatin. It als will be shwn a prpsal f extensin f that analytical by default f the Khan Academy in cmbinatin with new high-level parameters and hw t calculate them. Finally, sme results f the case study cnducted in 2012 in a pilt fr the curse 0 f physics at the University Carls III f Madrid will be presented. In that case has been used the Khan Academy the platfrm, reflecting n the cnnectin f intelligent infrmatin btained with learning.

The speech will fcus n hw the unx Cmmunity and UNED COMA (UNED MOOCs platfrm) apprach Learning Analytics t examine effective educatin strategies, pedaggies and practices that lead t student success, as well as the applicability f fficial academic credits in a MOOC envirnment. Keynte Presenters Bigraphies Ángel Serran Laguna (UCM): Sftware Engineer by the UCM, and researcher in the e-ucm e-learning grup since His current research fcus in e-learning technlgies, and their main interests are educatinal vide games, with the e-adventure prject, and the assessment f these games thrugh Learning Analytics. Pedr J. Muñz-Merin (UC3M): Pedr J. Muñz-Merin is a Visitant Assciate Prfessr at the Universidad Carls III de Madrid, where he has been wrking fr 9 years. In 2003, he received his Telecmmunicatin Engineering degree frm the Plytechnic University f Valencia, and in 2009 his PhD in Telematics Engineering frm the Universidad Carls III de Madrid. He btained his acreditatin in May 2012 as Assciate Prfessr by the ANECA agency frm the Spanish Ministry f Educatin. He als received the AMPER award fr the best Master Thesis in Telematics Engineering by the Spanish Assciatin f Telecmmunicatins Engineering. Mrever, he received a special PhD award by Universidad Carls III de Madrid. He has made tw lng research stays: ne in Ireland fr mre than 3 mnths at the Intel cmpany in 2005, and anther in Germany fr mre than 6 mnths at the Fraunhfer Institute f Technlgy in In additin t this, he is authr f mre than 40 scientific publicatins and has participated in mre than 20 research prjects. His present research interests include intelligent tutring, semantic web, learning analytics, and gamificatin.

5 María Gibert Ceballs (CSEV): She hlds a Degree in Plitical and Administratin Sciences and a Degree in Labur Science. She is a specialist in data analysis and was the persn respnsible fr the lcal labur bservatry in Mancmunitat Alt Penedès-Garraf. She was a member f the Cabinet f the Minister f Industry, Turism and Trade fr 4 years as a cnsultant in parliamentary affairs. She has participated in prjects fr prmting virtual training in massive higher educatin, as the Deputy Directr f Prject Design in CSEV. Jsé Chamón Parra (CSEV): He hlds a Degree in Telecmmunicatins Engineering by the Universidad Plitécnica de Madrid, specialised in technlgy management. He has als studied at the Università degli Studi di Rma La Sapienza "di Ingegneria Facltà (Rme). He has wrked at the Spanish Natinal Observatry fr Telecmmunicatin and the Infrmatin Sciety and at Rter Analysis. He has written and published several sectrial reprts and has been crdinating Eurpean prjects since 2010, gaining extensive experience in the field f educatin innvatin and IT implementatin in the new e-learning paradigm. Currently he is the Deputy Directr f Prject Develpment at CSEV. Yuma Inzlia (TLS): She hlds a Phillgy Degree and a MBA n Publishing. Extensive cnsultancy experience defining and develping learning prjects, such as frmative strategies and multimedia slutins fcused n knwledge transmissin. Extensive experience with whle prductin chain f elearning slutins. Overseeing multimedia prductin, authr cntent develpment, finance, media prviders and quality develpment. Sergi Martín (UNED): He hlds a PhD by the Electrical and Cmputer Engineering Department f the Industrial Engineering Schl f UNED. He is Cmputer Engineer in Distributed Applicatins & Systems by the Carls III University f Madrid (UC3M). Technical Cmputer Engineer by the Plytechnic University f Madrid (UPM). He teaches subjects related t micrelectrnics and digital electrnics since 2007 in the Industrial Engineering Schl f UNED.
