1 TouchPay Enabling the Future of Payments Concept Document Stadium Ticketing and Registration Solutions Problem Statement Stadiums in Southern Africa are seeking a simplified way of dealing with the following challenges simultaneously: Plugging ticket supply loopholes that lead to black market ticket sales and result losses in earnings Simplifying and streamlining the ticket sale collection process Automating ticket sales to expedite soccer fans registration and entry into the stadium Establishing a database of fans contact details to be used in promotional activities as well as regular updates on events taking place in the stadium Capturing fan details for supporters club membership registration in a simple and technologically advanced manner Solution TouchPay provides an innovative solution to the stadiums challenges by using a combination of its technologies: Self-service touch screen kiosks which facilitate the stadiums ticketing requirements through the use of e-wallet technology Spectators are enabled to use their mobile phones for a number of transactions that are facilitated by an established payment ecosystem The TouchPay Green KYS (Know Your Spectator) identity verification device expedites fan membership registration in a paperless and green process that is completed in minutes How the systems work Registration A. TouchPay Kiosks The stadiums ticketing requirements are automated to allow for self-service buying, checking and printing of soccer / other tickets by fans themselves. TouchPay s weather-proof and durable self-service kiosks are installed at various locations around the stadium to allow for spectator self-service. They can perform a number of transactions: Buy and pre-book match tickets Buy and pre-book tickets for other events Buy airtime Redeem tickets on loyalty points earned Check-in To enable spectators to use the self-service kiosks, a three-fold process is followed: 1. Registration 2. Purchase 3. Reconciliation and settlement Page 1 The stadiums register as TouchPay Merchants. During this process: An e-wallet account is automatically created for each stadium. This account was the one into which all purchase transactions by spectators were credited Stadiums bank details are captured to facilitate payment of settlement into the account A unique username and password is created for online access to reports (transaction, individual, etc.), balance checks, cash out options, etc. by each stadium Additionally, each stadium s spectators hava to be pre-registered. Once their details are captured, an e-wallet account is automatically created for them and linked to their mobile phone (this becomes their account number).

2 Registered spectators are able to transact at any stadium with the self-service functionality. Registration and creation of spectators e-wallets is as follows: Spectators select the stadium s icon on the touch screen device (TSD) screen A screen requiring their personal information (Name, Surname, ID, Mobile number, Address) then appears 2. The spectator s e-wallet is created after successful fingerprint capture, and an sms informing them of this is sent to their mobile phone 3. Note: Stadiums who choose to use PVC magstripe cards to authorise transactions, rather than biometric identification, receive a stadium-specific USSD number that spectators have to dial from their mobile phones to register their cards and link them to their e-wallets a. After dialling the USSD number and proceeding, spectators have to choose the Activate Card Number option and proceed b. They then have to type in the card number and provide personal details, including an address Successful registration and linking of the TouchPay card to a spectator s e-wallet is confirmed on the TSD screen, as well as via an sms and that is sent to the spectator At this point spectators have the option of linking their bank card to their e-wallet, which makes loading cash into their account easier Once the information is filled in, they proceed to the next screen by pressing Next, which takes them to an e-wallet creation screen On it they select the Card Payment option, accept the terms and conditions and press Proceed 1. Because the stadiums chose biometric identification to verify spectator details, a screen requesting the registering spectator to place their index finger on the reader four times for the system to capture and verify it appears next 1. To link the two, spectators have to select the icon that allows them to do so on the TSD screen 2. They have to place their index finger on the sensor four times for the system to verify and capture it. Those spectators whose stadiums choose to use cards have to swipe their cards 3. An sms taking them through the steps of providing their bank details, ATM pin and date of birth is then sent to their mobile phone. The two accounts are linked after successful completion of this process Before spectators can make ticket purchases, they have to deposit funds into their e-wallet. This is done in the following way: Spectators select Banking on the TSD s Main Menu They select Deposit on the screen that follows and fill in the amount that they will deposit, e.g. R10, R100, etc. They can then recharge their e-wallet using one of the following options: Page 2 1. Directly from their phone if their credit or debit card was linked to their e-wallet at registration a. When using this method, spectators are prompted for their ATM PIN on their phones every time they make a deposit. This is a secure, bank approved and MasterCard/Visa certified system 2. Internet transfer into the TouchPay account Note: Depending on the originating bank, funds reflect in the e-wallet either overnight or after two business days. 3. By a direct deposit into the TSD s cash acceptor

3 Note: This money is insured once it is deposited into the machine. Spectators are then able to choose the specific transactions they want to perform, e.g. buying a particular match ticket by clicking on it. Selected items and their prices appear in a separate list on the right-hand side of the TSD screen 1. Spectators are able to cancel an item from their selection by clicking on it in the order list that appears on the right side of the TSD To order an additional item from a different Category, e.g. Buy airtime, spectators have to press Back to Main Menu, press the Category they want to order from, and choose the item they want, e.g R29 Vodacom airtime Once the order is complete, spectators select Proceed, which brings up the payment screen Deposits are confirmed by text messages that are sent to spectators mobile phone, as well as via receipts that are printed by the TSDs Purchase Spectators ticket requirements are captured on the TSDs as follows: Pressing the icon that transfers them to the Main Menu Selecting Menu and then the Category, e.g. Check-in, Pre-book tickets, Redeem loyalty points, Buy airtime, etc. that they want to order from Depending on a stadium s preferences, one or more of three payment options are available to the spectators, namely Wallet Payments, Card Payments or Cash 1. To make an e-wallet payment, they select E-wallet 2. A screen asking that the transaction be authorised by placing the spectator s fingerprint on the reader (or by swiping their TouchPay card), then appears. Authorisation of the transaction is completed over an internet link 3. The spectator then receives sms notification of the transaction and the funds that have been deducted from their e-wallet 4. The TSD also prints a receipt if the transaction is completed successfully The Card Payments option makes payments directly from a spectator s bank account Page 3

4 contained in the confirmatory sms they are sent to confirm their purchase. Reconciliation and settlement Participating stadiums are granted access to the TouchPay website via a unique username and password that they can use to obtain the following information: Reports 1. The stadiums can specify transaction types, e.g.: a. Purchases b. Fees c. All 1. These payments need to be authorised via their mobile phone SMS confirmation of the purchase is then sent to the spectator s mobile phone Note: Spectators follow the same principles as above to make airtime purchases from their preferred Service Providers (Vodacom, MTN, CellC or 8ta) and pay for them. For each purchase: Spectators e-wallet accounts are debited for the full amount of the transaction The full amount of each transaction is credited to the stadium s e-wallet account Transaction fees are debited from the stadium s e-wallet account Note: Spectators are able to check balances and transactions online through the issue of a TouchPay username and password. Spectators who buy a certain amount of tickets through this system are able to partake of a number of benefits, including: Earning points that can be redeemed in exchange for free tickets Earning points that can be redeemed in exchange for free airtime Being entered into competitions in which various attractive prizes can be won. This strategy assists with promoting the use of the kiosks, as well as with entrenching spectator loyalty and retention The option of installing TouchPay kiosks at other convenient sites in addition to the stadiums is also available. Such sites include petrol stations, supermarket chain stores, and other sites with which arrangements are negotiated. All the transactions at stadiums are also available at these sites. Spectators are able to buy their tickets at the sites and are given access to stadiums upon presenting the information 2. They are also able to specify From and To date and time ranges Note: Reports are downloadable in csv. format. E-wallet account balances Cash out 1. Stadiums are able to cash out either a portion or the full amount of the e-wallet accounts at any time. Depending on the stadium s bank, funds either reflect overnight or within 2 business days B. TouchPay Green KYS The process of soccer fans registration as official club supporters is streamlined through the use of the TouchPay Green KYS (Know Your Supporter) device. The TouchPay Green KYS is an electronic, paperless, green identity authentication system that is enabled through a network formed by partnerships with service providers, identity databases and a number of other stakeholders. Completely electronic, the portable TouchPay Green KYS device is able to accurately verify prospective supporters personal details for membership club registration purposes within minutes. Supporters Club Membership Registration The TouchPay Green KYS device is connected to a laptop (or PC). A club membership template is loaded onto the system The prospective supporter s identity is verified in one of two ways: ID document 1. Their ID document is scanned into the TouchPay Green KYS device and the system retrieves the ID number. Using the ID number, the TouchPay Green KYS connected to external databases to retrieve the relevant information about the applicant, such as their name, mobile number, address, Page 4

5 physical address, postal address, etc. 2. Scanned documents (including the ID document) are then stored electronically in the system Biometrics The second way an applicant s identity can be verified is by using their fingerprint for biometric identification. 1. This is done by scanning the finger on a reader and retrieving information associated with their fingerprint from relevant databases 2. Once the prospective member s identity has been verified, the document template on the laptop or PC system is automatically populated with the relevant information retrieved Applicants signatures are captured electronically by signing on a pen-enabled screen on the TouchPay Green KYS device, which transforms their handwritten input into a digital signature If additional documentation, e.g. proof of residence, is required, the documents are scanned into the device, and stored as an electronic image The signed document can then be automatically ed to the applicant for their reference In cases where supporters have to pay to become a club member, payment for the membership is made in real-time via the TouchPay kiosks The TouchPay Green KYS system is also able to be used as a general club supporter registration system. In this context, fans are able to supply their details to the clubs in order to receive marketing information, general club information, etc. This information also assists clubs with their market intelligence and related marketing activities.
