3 With mobile devices taking the place of desktop computers, connectivity to the network is more valuable than processing capability.

4 Web browsers are for communicating, working, creating, playing, socializing, and so much more. (like finding cute cat pics)

5 We use web-based software to instantly access our up-to-date details with just one click.

8 What is cloud computing? It allows us to view, manipulate, and share stuff with anyone we want, wherever they might be.

9 Cloud computing services include: backup and storage of files, data syncing, and applications.

10 Cloud storage basics Redundancy each file stored in multiple spots to ensure against system failure Flexibility option to add or remove space as needed Integration ability to replicate and sort info between mobile and desktop

11 Syncing vs. Sharing vs. Backup Syncing = you have the same stuff across multiple devices you own Sharing = you and your buddy have the same stuff on your own respective devices Backup = you have another copy of the same stuff on another device or the cloud Graphic credit: Ashfame

14 Unlike Cloud storage, Cloud applications are interactive. does both. It stores your stuff and it allows you to work on your stuff while you re running it.

15 To start: 1. Create an account or sign in. 2. Upload files. 3. Share files. Dropbox is a free service that allows you to upload and access photos, documents, and videos anytime, anywhere. *** 2 MB storage included in free account *** *** Use same username/password for all devices ***

18 The menu bar at the top lets you share, download, delete, rename, and move highlighted files and folders. Status menu lets you review what s been uploaded, revised, or shared recently on desktop and mobile versions.

22 The cloud is also great for doing other things, like watching movies through Netflix, listening to music via Spotify, or editing, storing, and sharing photos with Flickr.
