3 The Friday prior to the competition is an opportunity for competitors to get to know one another and learn more about both the city of Regina and the province of Saskatchewan. The competitors, team leaders and traveling companions will all be taking a tour of the RCMP barracks and RCMP Heritage Center. Following the tour will be a dinner and evening of local entertainment. 4 Saturday September 12 The Competition Saturday is the big event! The National Professional Truck Driving Championship begins bright and early with breakfast; the competition will begin at 8 AM and will last approximately six hours. Lunch will be served to the competitors, attending public and volunteers. Breakfast (2)...$2,000. 5 Saturday September 12 Competition & Gala Awards Banquet Saturday evening is the presentation of awards to winner of the National Professional Truck Driving Championships. The awards banquet will sharing the evening with the Saskatchewan Trucking Association s Gala Awards Banquet. Transportation $8,000 Shuttles and buses with transport all attendees (media, competitors, spouses, trucking association staff, volunteers etc.) Wed Sunday. Signage on all transportation vehicles Opportunity to place promotional materials inside vehicles transporting competitors, spouses and team leaders. Option to place promotional materials in transporting vehicle on all three days transport will take place. Trophies. $200 per category 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for each of the following categories Single Single Tandem Tandem Straight Truck B-Train Tandem Highest scoring team (5 trophies) Sponsor logo will go on every trophy sponsored Opportunity to display promotional material on trophy table at Gala Awards Banquet event. Venue.$5,000 Situated in the heart of the Queen City -- Regina, Evraz Place is one of the largest and most influential event complexes in the country. The main competition will take place in lots adjacent to the Agribition Building. 6 National Truck Driving Championships The National Truck Driving Competition is held once a year In Canada, rotating between the competition provinces. Comprised of three elements: a written exam, a pre-trip inspection and a driven obstacle course. Competitors in the NTDC are already champions on a provincial level; first place drivers from each category in each provincial competition have a chance to compete at a national level. The seven teams compete in five categories, based on the type of truck driven as a career. The categories: Single Single, Tandem Tandem, Straight Truck, B-Train and Tandem refer to the type of configuration of the trucks axels and wheels. Competitors will be scored on their time, skills and professionalism on the course, written knowledge during the exam and safety knowledge during the pr-trip inspection. The competition presents professional drivers the opportunity to display the skills, courtesy, knowledge, safety and professionalism. This competition is of utmost important to our industry, representing the pride, skills and professionalism that are cornerstones of the industry. Saskatchewan Trucking Association The Association's primary purpose is to promote the interests of the trucking industry in Saskatchewan, the organization is also involved in lobbying the provincial government, providing scholarships, and promoting safety at the annual driving championships. Any way you look at it, the STA is in the middle of the action. There are approximately 1,900 trucking companies registered in Saskatchewan. In doing what they love to do, these companies transport hundreds of goods in and out of Saskatchewan every year. The STA is integral to the fabric of Saskatchewan society. Today the STA is hundreds of members strong, and one of the most active trade associations in the province. The current focus of the STA is public relations, lobbying efforts and the promotion of safety through our industry specific training programs.
