1 THE POWER OF INSIGHT DNV Nor-Shipping Seminar 3 June 2013 Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo
2 02 I INTRODUCTION I DNV seminar with focus on Safety, Innovation and the Environment I I DNV seminar I INTRODUKSJON I 03 DEAR SHIPPING PROFESSIONAL! It has become a tradition to invite professionals within the maritime industry to a DNV seminar the day before the official opening of Nor-Shipping, and this is a tradition that we wish to continue in The maritime industry is wide ranging. While some shipowners and yards are facing tough times, others have healthy business operations these days. Most of the huge ship segments are struggling. Overcapacity and low freight rates are key words. Other segments, like offshore, LNG, shuttle tankers and carcarriers, are in a growing market. Some of the market drivers and stakeholder needs are different, but some of the challenges are the same. Everyone is affected by the record-high fuel prices and global political trends. At this seminar, we will focus on some of the daily business challenges related to fuel, contracts, regulatory and finance. We will also lift the horizon and obtain an overview of the global economy and its implications for shipping. Finally, our ambitions for the seminar are to share maritime industry experiences and learn from others within this exciting industry. We are proud to announce that presentations will be given by major industry names and other key stakeholders. Together with an active audience, they will no doubt ensure that we obtain the most relevant and up-todate information available as a basis for constructive debates throughout the day. I look forward to seeing you on Monday 3 June. Welcome! Henrik O. Madsen CEO DNV Group
