2 The Education Committee in cooperation with the Limassol Paphos Coordinating Committee of The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) with pleasure invite you to the seminar with title: The current challenges of the shipping industry in Cyprus - a global perspective Purpose To outline the current challenges in the shipping industry in Cyprus that the stakeholders are facing and address a number of issues from a global perspective, focusing on commercial, corporate governance, performance management, tax, compliance, accounting and audit aspects. Who should attend The seminar is addressed to all members of ICPAC, accountants, auditors, advisors and any other stakeholder in the shipping and maritime industry, as well as any other interested individual. Speakers Mr Richard Greiner is a Partner of Moore Stephens LLP, UK and is a specialist in the shipping industry. He has led the publication of a number of studies of the shipping industry like the OpCost Report and has presented a number of seminars related to the shipping industry worldwide, including previous events for the Institute. Dr. Photis M. Panayides is an Associate Professor in Shipping and Head of the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping at the Cyprus University of Technology. He has held appointments at several Universities in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Denmark and Sweden among other. He has published five books and over 40 journal articles in the areas of shipping and logistics economics and strategy and has consulted with various companies particularly in relation to performance measurement. Since 2009 he serves on the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority. Mrs Cleo Papadopoulou, is a tax partner in PwC Cyprus heading the tax services for shipping. She is a member of the Shipping & Ports network of PwC, which is a network of dedicated shipping industry practitioners around the globe, working together on major international shipping groups. She has extensive experience in serving all local and international shipping, shipmanagement and oil & gas companies. She has served as a member of the tax committee of ICPAC and is a member of the ACCA and of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in the UK.
