SSH verview SSH is an advanced feature that is available n PrLiant ML150 G2 and PrLiant ML110 G3 servers by installing the Lights-Out 100 Remte Management Card, r n PrLiant DL140 G2 servers and PrLiant DL145 G2 servers by purchasing the Lights-Out 100i Select Pack r the Lights-Out 100i Advanced Pack. SSH is a telnet-like prgram fr lgging in t and executing cmmands n a remte machine, which includes security with authenticatin, encryptin, and data-integrity features. The Lights-Out 100 remte management prcessr can supprt simultaneus access frm tw SSH clients. After SSH is cnnected and authenticated, the cmmand line interface is available. LO100 supprts the fllwing prtcls: SSH prtcl versin 2 PuTTY 0.54, which is a free versin f telnet and SSH prtcls available fr dwnlad n the Internet. When using PuTTY, versins earlier than 0.54 might display tw line feeds instead n a single line feed, when the Enter key is pressed. T avid this issue, and fr best results, use versin 0.54 r later. OpenSSH, which is a free versin f the SSH prtcl available fr dwnlad n the Internet. NOTE: Lgging in t an SSH sessin culd take up t 90 secnds. Depending n the client used, yu might nt see n-screen activity during this time. LO100 cmes preinstalled with a certificate. T install a user-specific certificate, see the ne-time "Imprting a certificate (n page 21)" setup prcedure. Using SSH When using a Secure Shell utility t cnnect t a server fr the first time, the utility will prmpt yu t accept the server's public key, smetimes referred t as a hst key. Accepting this key authrizes the utility t stre a cpy f the public key in its wn database. The utility will autmatically recgnize the server when future cnnectins are attempted, by cmparing the public key t the ne stred in its database. T access the remte management prcessr using SSH: 1. Open an SSH windw. 2. When prmpted, enter the IP address r DNS name, lgin name, and passwrd. Using OpenSSH T start an OpenSSH client in Linux, use: ssh -l lginname ipaddress/dns name Using PuTTY T start a PuTTY sessin, duble-click the PuTTY icn in the directry in which PuTTY is installed. T start a PuTTY sessin frm the cmmand line: T start a cnnectin t a server called hst: putty.exe [-ssh -telnet -rlgin -raw] [user@]hst Fr telnet sessins, the fllwing alternative syntax is supprted: putty.exe telnet://hst[:prt]/ T start an existing saved sessin called sessinname: Using LO100 20

putty.exe -lad "sessin name" Imprting a certificate If yu d nt want t use the preinstalled public key (certificate), create and install yur wn private key (certificate). Imprting a key r certificate is a ne-time prcedure that supprts bth SSH and SSL. The key must be generated using external third-party sftware, placed n a TFTP server, and upladed t the LO100. Fr Micrsft Windws, if yu d nt have a TFTP sftware package, use TFTPD32.EXE, which is available n the Internet. Linux generally has a TFTP server installed with the perating system. If it is nt, see yur Linux dcumentatin fr mre infrmatin. NOTE: When yu use the CLP lad cmmand with TFTPD32, HP recmmends using a 30- secnd timeut and 6 retries. NOTE: When using the CLP lad cmmand in Linux set the timeut t The firewall built int sme Linux systems might nt allw the TFTP server t send and receive infrmatin. Yu might have t disable the firewall t allw these cnnectins. If yu are experiencing firewall issues, change the firewall settings t allw cnnectins n prt 69 (the default prt fr TFTP servers). See yur firewall dcumentatin fr additinal infrmatin. Creating a certificate LO100 requires a 1,024-bit DSA key stred in PEM (Base64-encded) frmat t be lcated n a TFTP server. Fr example, the fllwing prcess uses Win32 OpenSSL, dwnladed frm the Shining Light Prductins website ( with the cmmands issued in a DOS windw t generate the certificate. T generate a certificate using Win32 OpenSSL: 1. Dwnlad Win32 OpenSSL. 2. Install and set up OpenSSL. 3. Using OpenSSL, generate a DSA parameters file: penssl dsaparam -ut server_dsaparam.pem Generate the DSA private key file, called server_privkey.pem: penssl gendsa -ut server_privkey.pem server_dsaparam.pem 5. Generate the DSA certificate (public key) file, called server cacert.pem: penssl req -new -x509 -key server_privkey.pem -ut server_cacert.pem - days When prmpted fr a distinguished name, enter an apprpriate dmain name fr the servers receiving the certificate. 7. After creating the certificate, cpy it t a TFTP server that is accessible n the same netwrk as LO100. Installing a certificate r private key thrugh the CLP T install the certificate, lg in t LO100 as administratr thrugh the CLP interface and issue the lad cmmand t uplad and install the certificate. Fr example: lad -surce <URI> -emhpfiletype cer where: Using LO100 21

<URI> is the //tftpserver IP/path/filename t be dwnladed. tftpserver is the URL r IP address f the TFTP server cntaining the certificate. Path is the path f the file relative t the TFTP server rt. filename is the name f the certificate (server_privkey.pem in this example). Yu can als find these cmmands in /map1/firmware directry. T install a private key, lg in t LO100 as administratr thrugh the CLP interface, and issue the lad cmmand t uplad and install the certificate. Fr example: lad -surce <URI> -emhpfiletype key where: <URI> is the //tftpserver IP/path/filename t be dwnladed. tftpserver is the URL r IP address f the TFTP server cntaining the private key file. Path is the path f the file relative t the TFTP server rt. filename is the file name f the private key file (server_privkey.pem in this example.) Yu can als find these cmmands in /map1/firmware directry. NOTE: After using the lad cmmand LO100 will reset ending yur CLP interface sessin. Yu must recnnect t the CLP interface. CLP verview Using CLP HP has wrked with key industry partners within Distributed Management Task Frce, Inc. t define an industry-standard set f cmmands. The SMASH suite will standardize manageability interfaces fr servers. The Lights-Out 100 remte management prcessr implements the cmmand set defined in the Server Management Cmmand Line Prtcl Specificatin, 1.00 Draft. The CLP replaces the simple CLI that was released previusly and is n lnger supprted. The management prcessr functinality accessible frm the SMASH CLP is a lw-bandwidth interface and prvides similar functinality t the web interface. The CLP is designed fr users wh prefer a nngraphical interface. The CLP is accessible thrugh the fllwing methds: Telnet SSH cnnectin Physical serial prt The general syntax f CLP cmmand is: <verb> <target> <ptin> <prperty> Verbs The fllwing verbs are supprted: cd help lad reset set Using LO100 22

shw start stp exit versin Target The default target is the /. The target can be changed by the cd cmmand r by specifying a target n the cmmand line. Optins The fllwing ptins are valid: -help/-h -all/-a Prperties are the attributes f the target that can be mdified. Output The utput syntax is text. The valid Blean values fr any cmmand are true and false. General ntes If the cmmands n the CLP cmmand span mre than ne line, yu cannt navigate between different lines. Operating system-specific ntes The Micrsft Windws 2000 telnet client des nt supprt the Functins keys F1 thrugh F12, Insert, Hme, and End keys. These keys will nt wrk in a Lights-Out 100 cmmand line sessin. The Backspace key in the Lights-Out 100 CLP implementatin is mapped t the value 0x8. Sme client perating systems, Nvell Linux Desktp and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Desktp, map the Backspace key t the value 0x7f, which is used fr the Delete key in the Windws telnet client. The Backspace key will nt wrk frm a client frm which it has value f 0x7f. Fr the Linux clients, using the Hme r the End key enables the Lights-Out 100 CLP service t remap the Backspace key t use the value 0x7f, making the key functinal. In the Windws PuTTY client, the Backspace key can be mapped t a value f 0x8 by changing the setting fr Terminal Keybard t Cntrl-H. Base cmmands The help cmmand displays cntext-sensitive help. Entering help displays all the supprted cmmands. Entering <cmmand help/?> displays the help message specific t that cmmand. Help fr verbs Calling help fr a verb returns the general syntax and usage assciated with issuing that verb. Calling help fr a verb that is nt present in the current directry returns an Unsupprted Cmmand message. The fllwing are all valid ways t call help fr a verb. /./-> help shw Usage: shw [<target>][<ptins>][<prperties>] /./-> shw -h Usage: shw [<target>][<ptins>][<prperties>] Using LO100 23

/./-> shw -help Usage: shw [<target>][<ptins>][<prperties>] /./-> Help fr targets Calling help fr a target returns any infrmatin abut the target and what it cntains. Yu can call help fr any target that is nt cntained in the current directry (help map1 can be called frm system1). /./-> system1 -h Invalid cmmand /./-> system1 -help Invalid cmmand /./-> help system1 Hst System Directry /./-> help map1 Management Service Prcessr Directry /./-> cd system1 /./system1/-> help map1 Management Service Prcessr Directry Help fr prperties Calling help fr a prperty r any ther ptin fr which there is n help infrmatin returns an Unsupprted Cmmand r Invalid cmmand message. Fr example: /./system1/-> shw /./system1 Targets lg1 Prperties name=hewlett-packard enabledstate=enabled Verbs cd versin exit shw reset start Using LO100 24

The cd cmmand sets the current default target. The cntext wrks like a directry path. The rt cntext fr the server is /. which is the starting pint fr a CLP system. By changing the cntext, yu can shrten cmmands. Fr example: cd changes the directry. cd.. mves up the tree ne directry. cd flder mves t flder assuming flder is in the current directry. If yu want t mve t a directry nt in the current directry, yu must enter the full path. Rt in the cmmand line is /./ If yu are in system1 and want t mve t map1, issue the cmmand cd /./map1. Neither cd /map1 nr cd map1 wrks. The filename is nt case-sensitive, whereas the cmmand is casesensitive (cd MaP1 wrks while CD map1 des nt). The shw cmmand displays values f a prperty r cntents f a cllectin target. Fr example: /./> shw /./ Targets system1/ map1/ Prperties Verbs cd versin exit shw help Using LO100 25

The first line f infrmatin returned by the shw cmmand is the current cntext. In the example, / is the current cntext. Fllwing the cntext is a list f subtargets (Targets) and prperties (Prperties) applicable t the current cntext. The verbs (Verbs) sectin shws what cmmands are available in this cntext. The shw cmmand can als be specified with an explicit r implicit cntext and a specific prperty. An explicit cntext is /map1/firmware and is nt dependent n the current cntext. An implicit cntext assumes that the cntext specified is a child f the current cntext. If the current cntext is /map1, then a shw firmware cmmand displays the /map1/firmware data. If a prperty is nt specified, then all prperties are shwn. The lad cmmand mves a binary image frm a URL t the map. The lad cmmand is used t take a binary image frm a specific surce lcatin (specified as a URL) and place it at the specified target address. In a remte management prcessr implementatin, the firmware dwnlads a full image file using TFTP frm the specified lcatin and prgrams flash with the image. In a remte management prcessr implementatin, /map1/firmware is a valid target. The lad cmmand supprts usage nly with the fllwing ptins. -surce <lcatin> This ptin must be specified. (h)elp this ptin appears n the cmmand line, the cmmand ignres all ptins and prperties except -utput (fr terse r verbse utput). These ptins are nly valid fr this cmmand when the -help ptin is used. surce <value> This ptin specifies the target frm which it will transfer the binary image. The value specified must be a valid URL. The expected frmat is //tftpserverip/path/filename. This ptin is required in the cmmand line every time the lad cmmand is executed unless -help is used. The file must be an uncmpressed firmware image file that yu create using the DOS ROMPAQ utility fund n the Lights-Out 100 Firmware Upgrade Diskette Utility available fr dwnlad frm the HP website ( T create the uncmpressed image file, enter the fllwing cmmand frm DOS: ROMPAQ /D <infile> <utfile> where <infile> is the ROMPAQ firmware image file and <utfile> is the filename fr the uncmpressed binary image file. The lad cmmand returns any status data n the first lines. After the status data appears, ne f the fllwing lines f text displays n the next line: <URL> transferred t <target address> (if the file is transferred) <URL> nt transferred (if the file is nt transferred) Example: lad -surce // /pub/firmwareimage.bin -emhpfiletype csr // /pub/firmwareimage.bin transferred t /map1/firmware/fullimage The reset cmmand causes a target t cycle frm enabled t disabled and back t enabled. The set cmmand sets a prperty r set f prperties t a specific value. set prperty = new value is the standard syntax fr the set cmmand. The set cmmand is used t change any changeable prperty. If the current directry des nt cntain the prperty yu want t change, the target f the prperty must be specified befre entering the prperty yu want t change. Using LO100 26

The start cmmand causes a target t change state t a higher run level. The stp cmmand causes a target t change state t a lwer run level. The versin cmmand queries the versin f the CLP implementatin r ther CLP elements.
