JOSEPH COUNTY ISD OCTOBER 7, 2015 COUNT DAY INFORMATION FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS The fficial student cunt day is WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7, A Wrksheet B needs t be cmpleted fr students in yur special educatin classrms r fr whm yu prvide services in a general educatin setting. A sample frm and a blank frm are attached. T cmpute each student's Special Educatin FTE: First, calculate each student's special educatin hurs per week. This must be accurate t the quarter hur. SAMPLE: A student s special educatin time is 1.5 hurs n Mnday, Wednesday, and Friday and 2.25 hurs n Tuesday and 2 hurs n Thursday. The ttal is 8.75 (8¾) hurs per week. Next, divide the student s special educatin hurs per week by the building s ttal clck hurs f instructin per week. A chart is attached indicating yur district and building instructinal hurs t be used in these calculatins. SAMPLE: A student s special educatin time is 8.75 hurs/week and the building has a ttal f hurs/week. Divide 8.75 by and the special educatin FTE is.318 (rund t.32). Recrd bth special educatin and regular educatin FTE's t hundredths. If tw districts share a student, each district needs t reprt the FTE fr the time they serve the student. Be sure yu wrk with the ther district t ensure n mre than 1.00 FTE is being claimed fr shared students. Return yur frm t the designated individual in yur building This is prbably yur ffice assistant/secretary if yu dn t knw wh yur building cntact is, ask yur principal. Dcumentatin and Audits: Save all wrksheets and student schedules that yu use t figure FTEs. ALWAYS keep accurate daily attendance recrds. The auditr will need t review the IEP that was in effect n the fficial cunt date fr any student n yur list wh is randmly selected fr audit. Be prepared t furnish the IEP fr all students n yur list. 4 WORKSHEET B GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS General Instructins: 1. Enter the teacher s name and circle the apprpriate reimbursement cde f that teacher. Fr reimbursement cde 270, cmplete a separate sheet fr pupils receiving services under rule and a separate sheet fr pupils receiving services under rule Enter the educating district s name and schl cde number. Enter the apprpriate building name. 3. Check yes r n if the prgram is a center prgram as defined in Sectin 6. Sectin 6(1) f the State Schl Aid Act defines a center prgram as fllws: Sec. 6. (1) Center prgram means a prgram perated by a district r intermediate district fr special educatin pupils frm several districts in prgrams fr pupils with autism spectrum disrder, pupils with severe cgnitive impairment, pupils with mderate cgnitive impairment, pupils with severe multiple impairments, pupils with hearing impairment, pupils with visual impairment, and pupils with physical impairment r ther health impairment. Prgrams fr pupils with emtinal impairment hused in buildings that d nt serve regular educatin pupils als qualify. Unless therwise apprved by the department, a center prgram either shall serve all cnstituent districts within an intermediate district r shall serve several districts with less than 50% f the pupils residing in the perating district. Hurs spent in special educatin basic classrm prgrams are the numeratr. List the number f hurs in FTE that each student spends in general educatin accrding t the assigned general educatin grade level. Line ttals in clumn 3 thrugh 17 equal ttals in clumn 18. Clumn 19 ttal is nt transferred t any ther page.
