In this course, students develop the skills required to manage a Windows Server including Server Installation and Configuration, Configuration and Management of Resources, System Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Optimizing Server Performance. Have the skills required to plan and implement server 2008 networks including: 2. Plan and perform manual and automated server installations and upgrades. 3. Plan and implement infrastructure services including address assignment, name resolution, network access control, Active Directory, and certificate services. 4. Plan file and print server roles including access permissions, storage quotas, and printer installation and configuration. 5. Understand and implement server management techniques including remote administration and delegation of management functions. 6. Plan and implement Active Directory group policies. 7. Implement patch management including Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). 8. Monitor and maintain server and network security including remote access, firewall rules, authentication and authorization, and auditing. General Education Student learning outcomes: Students will demonstrate competence in using academic technology including finding, evaluating and utilizing appropriate information sources. Students will demonstrate an ability to think critically and analytically. Graded assignments and policies: Graded Assignments During the semester, three group projects will be assigned. These will be extended lab/research projects that will require you to do research in books or on the Internet to obtain information about an aspect of the topic we are currently covering, and then use this information to develop a solution to real-world server configuration and management problems.

3 Each project will be worth 50 points.
