SignMedia SMART lehrt Elemente der schriftlichen Englisch durch Gebärdensprache in einer gewinnender Lernumgebung. SignMedia SMART Ermöglicht es Benutzern, relevanten Sprachkenntnisse am Arbeitsplatz zu entwickeln. Das mobiles Format ist geeignet, vor Ort, im Studio, auf der Produktions Büro und unterwegs zu benutzen. Das Lerntool ist zugänglich für Nutzer von britischen, österreichischen, italienischen und schwedischen Gebärdensprache und ist vor allem für gehörlose Medien-Profis konzipiert, aber hat auch Vorteile für gehörlose Medienstudenten und Gebärdensprache Nutzer. Besuchen Sie: Zusammenfassung: The world of broadcast media offers an increasingly rich source of employment for deaf graduates and professionals worldwide and its importance is evidenced by the proliferation of European deaf television and film festivals. However, research shows that the focus on communication through written English is still a barrier for sign language users across Europe, impacting upon career progression and mobility (O Neill 2000, Fleming, 2006). Essential media production documentation contains challenging technical English, as do many of the instructions and descriptors on technological equipment. In addition to this, Smart devices such as tablets and phones have recently become integral to production workflow and so it follows that VET resources need to be accessible on the move and on location. SignMedia SMART proposes to build on the success and evaluation of the SignMedia project (2012 finalist in the MEDEA awards) - an online sign-language resource that teaches vocational English to deaf media professionals. It aims to: Develop key competences in literacy and technical knowledge in order to unlock communicative/professional roles that are often barred to deaf people. Increase user flexibility by transferring elements of the online resource to mobile and tablet platforms. Export a product that pushes the boundaries of elearning pedagogy to Sweden - a country with a thriving deaf media community, but whose innovative methods of deaf education are still under-represented online. Produce 200 further media-specific glossary items supplemented with images and with definitions available in the signed and written languages of UK, SE, AUS and IT, thus facilitating mobility and creative collaboration across Europe with others in the sector. Challenge stereotypes and raise aspirations with an attractive learning resource that reflects a diverse, creative and professionally successful minority group. SignMedia SMART will impact on several stakeholder groups within the European media industry including deaf media specialists, vocational trainers, students and sign language interpreters. Successful use of SignMedia SMART will enhance employability and training by promoting key VET competences of literacy and technical knowledge. It aims to break down these barriers with an innovative mobile resource, promoting career development and a new level of confidence for deaf media professionals. 3 Projektinformation production workflow and so it follows that VET resources need to be accessible on the move and on location. SignMedia SMART delivers a mobile learning experience that teaches elements of written English through sign language. Users will encounter a flexible and engaging learning environment designed to be used on location, in studio, at the production office and on the move. All learning activities enable deaf users to develop language skills that are directly transferrable to their work environment. Beschreibung: The mobile learning tool is accessible for users of British, Austrian, Italian and Swedish sign languages. It is designed primarily for deaf media professionals, but has clear benefits for deaf media students and other sign language users who wish to develop their written English. Hearing people with a professional or personal interest in sign languages can also make use of this excellent resource. The consortium are an experienced team of deaf and hearing professionals with expertise in e-learning, media, deaf education, sign language and linguistics. The project aims and objectives are being achieved through 7 key work packages through which the following have been achieved: WP1: Establishment of project team and contact details shared; partner agreements in place; created Gantt Chart, Management and Monitoring Guidelines, work plan, templates, actions table and impact indicators. Financial reporting and claim submissions occur on a quarterly basis. Two partner meetings and virtual meetings taken place. Dropbox used as needed. The interim report has been completed. Each partner carries out internal meetings to discuss the project and partners send regular update reports. WP2: Dissemination strategy in place, leaflet created, activity and contact databases in place, various promotional items are currently being designed, website is live, bulletins and press/news releases have been sent out, a wide range of events and presentations have taken place. Various social media mediums used and updated on a regular basis. Associate partners being contacted. Logo designed. Draft exploitation and IPR plans have been developed. The final launch event is being planned. WP3: The needs analysis is complete and the results and recommendations being used to inform the project on an on-going basis. WP4: Quality visit to Sweden taken place. External evaluation subcontracted and underway. Risk Registers and issue change control log are in place. Two quality meetings have taken place. A number of other quality elements and assurance are included as part of the management strategy and guidelines. WP5: Ongoing regular contact takes place between P0 and P5. The initial prototype version is complete and development work is taking place on an on-going basis. Media workshop has taken place and the initial 60 storyboards have been designed; the remaining storyboards are in development. Written translations and adaptation is almost complete and filming of the video clips is planned. WP6: Transfer pack and Phase 1 technical build complete. Adaptation for Swedish users has taken place and filming is underway. Draft version can be seen at WP7: The framework and questions have been agreed; partners have, and are continuing to carry out internal testing and testing with end users. Feedback is collated as appropriate and is used to inform the technical development. During the next year of the project the following activities are planned: WP1: Continuation of project management/monitoring tools and techniques and financial reporting and monitoring. Completion of final report. Remaining 2 partner meetings. WP2: Continue to follow dissemination strategy and activities and update databases. Create a subsequent leaflet with updated project information and continue with bulletins, press/news releases and social media networking. Dissemination will focus more extensively on the business sector and vocational groups. For example, an event is being attended in November 2014 which includes media sector businesses. The links already made with organisations such as UKTI and Chamber of Commerce 3

4 Projektinformation will continue and be exploited further. Promotional 'giveaways' will be available for partners and the final conference will take place. The website will continue to be populated and a link to the app provided. The exploitation and IPR plans and agreements will be finalised and signed by partners. WP3: Completed already. Findings will continue to be used to inform the project. WP4: The findings from the external evaluation interim report will be reviewed and implemented as needed. The external evaluation will continue and the final report received. Quality checking and reviews will continue and the risk register and issue change control log will be reviewed and updated as needed. Quality meetings will take place at the remaining 3 partner meetings. WP5: Liaison will continue between P0 and P5. The prototype will continue to be developed until a final version is complete. Any additional adaptations and translations will be completed and the video content completed and uploaded. The remaining storyboard images will be completed and an additional media workshop is planned to take place at the next meeting in January A Youtube channel for each language containing 500 clips and links back to the product will also be produced. WP6: The filming and content of the remaining resource for phase 2 will be completed and the phase 2 build completed. WP7: Testing and piloting will continue with an emphasis on end users and vocational sectors. Focus groups will be utilised to a greater extent. P2 and P5 will continue to liaise regarding research tools to ensure they are appropriate and in terms of developing recommendations Anecdotal evidence will also be recorded at events attended. All results and feedback will be written up using a structure to be created by the WP lead.
