9 AWESOME MINISTRY ALINA COCCETTI When I think about what inspired me to pursue chaplaincy, I can say that I ve always had a heart for working with young people. To be able to support students on their individual journeys is an incredible honour. I really love being that person in their life who can encourage them and give them some consistency in such an unpredictable stage of their lives. For me, the X-factor in terms of the learning environment at Avondale is the underlying message in every aspect of education: the fact that every individual has a God-given potential and value. At Avondale, I discovered that in my own life, and I also discovered how to see that in the lives of other people. That discovery was incredible. My vision for Chaplaincy is to empower students and their families to be able to deal with the challenges that life throws at them. Life is unpredictable, so I want them to find their God-given purpose, their identity and their value. I want them to realise that with all these attributes, they will be able to face anything in life. I think chaplaincy is such an exciting career path. It s an awesome ministry opportunity where you have the chance to work in a variety of places, such as in schools, hospitals, universities and even at an army base. I love that I get to work with people who are searching, people who are looking for meaning and purpose in life. As a chaplain, I have the opportunity to share with them something incredible and life-changing: who God really is, and how he sees them.
