2 GRADUATE PROFILE The best thing about my course was the empathetic nature of staff, the casual atmosphere of the lectures and tutorials, and the modern facilities that the University provided. It also proved to be very beneficial for research and understanding the theoretical principals of psychology. Darren Bartlett, Clinical Psychologist, NSW Health 2008 graduate, Bachelor of Psychology with Honours BACHELOR OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCE & BACHELOR OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCE WITH HONOURS The Bachelor of Psychological Science provides the first three years of study and training required to prepare graduates for employment as psychologists in professional practice and in research careers. This degree focuses on providing a thorough knowledge of the theoretical bases of psychological science and prepares students to conduct an independent research project. Upon completion of the degree, eligible students may undertake a fourth year of study by enrolling in the Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours. Completion of this fourth year of study is the minimal educational qualification required for conditional registration as a psychologist in NSW. The curriculum of this three year degree strikes a balance between research, theory and application to provide relevant skills which are highly sought after by employers in the public and private sectors. Relevant Indigenous material is integrated to ensure that graduates have a strong capacity for action in a regional and rural context. The structure moves from basic theory to application, with a strong emphasis on the Scientist Practitioner model. Some second and third year units involve applied skills (eg. assessment techniques, behaviour change) or an introduction to applied topics (eg. Health psychology and human factors) while others emphasise areas in experimental psychology, statistics and research methods. Completion of this degree, plus the fourth Honours year, meets the requirements for conditional registration with the NSW Psychologists Registration Board. The three and four year degrees are both accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. Lectures, tutorials/workshops, research laboratory work, independent research, videoconferencing and online discussion. facilities Psychology students are fully engaged in learning facilities which include research laboratories, psychology computer laboratory, and a test library. Location Coffs Harbour Duration 3 years full-time; 6 years part-time Total units ATAR/OP Not previously offered UAC codes QTAC codes

Available to students who have chosen the Osteopathic Studies or Naturopathic Medicine majors. The course focuses on the principle that the body is a unit which has an inter-related structure and function and I like the idea that it will be our job, once graduated, to help the body heal itself.
