3 Facebook KEEP THINGS POSITIVE PIN POSTS 10 years since its launch, Facebook has over 1.28 billion monthly users and 757m daily users. Post statistics reveal that some of the biggest brands on Facebook post on average once a day whereas news companies post on average 7-8 posts a day. Facebook suggest that photos and videos are the most engaging types of posts along with offers and questions. This is because they are directly engaging and sharable. PROVIDE INFORMATION STATUS UPDATE PROVIDE A LINK myclevertip: Less than 2 posts per week or more than 2 per day has shown to lose fans and engagement so post 5-10 times a week. Time your posts to hit when most of your fans are online using Facebook Insights. INCLUDE IMAGES MOBILE FRIENDLY Facebook s Ads are a perfect way of boosting your post reach as organic reach declines and Facebook becomes more and more a pay-to-play platform. Facebook offers an impressive array of ad targeting options around interests, behaviour and demographics. Look-a-like audiences allow you to target people who are similar to your existing customers whilst Website Custom Audiences allow you to target users who have visited your website. 4 LinkedIn LinkedIn has become an essential resource to businesses with more than 3m company pages, operating the world s largest professional network. STATUS UPDATE myclevertip: Use LinkedIn for targeting B2B as it has the highest referral rate to corporate websites over Facebook and Twitter. PROVIDE A LINK LinkedIn Targeted Status Updates allow you to tailor your content to specific audiences. For example by seniority and company size, as long as your update can reach at least 100 of your followers. Using LinkedIn s Sponsored Updates allows you to share your posts to a precise targeted audience. They re perfect at helping to generate leads, without advertising aggressively to members like banner ads can do. Status LINK EDIT DESCRIPTION myclevertip: Post content that lends a hand by sharing your expertise, as 6 out of 10 users are more interested in industry insights rather than company news. LinkedIn s recent updates have meant that users on a premium account now have a similar look to Facebook and Twitter with a larger profile picture and a banner image that spans the length of the page. LinkedIn Publisher, a platform that allows people to publish directly to LinkedIn has been available to its influencers for the past year and will soon be made available to everyone. 5 Twitter PIN TWEETS Twitter has 255m monthly active users, with 500m Tweets sent every day. According to Twitter 40% of its members use Twitter simply as a curated news feed of updates that reflect their passions. The fact that 80% of world leaders are on Twitter and breaking news appears in feeds before anywhere else demonstrates the platforms power. CALL TO ACTION PUNCTUATION SHORTEN URLS The majority of successful brands Tweet up to 10 times a day on average including retweets and replies, proving that the more you engage the more you grow. myclevertip: If you want to increase exposure and followers over Twitter then ensure you re engaging in conversations, retweeting and sharing links other than your own work for maximum impact. Twitter s recent updates now mean that it s even easier for brands to reach out to members without spamming their existing followers. 6 ENGAGING TITLE Blog Over 6.7m people blog on sites along with 12m blogging via social networking sites everyday, with 77% of internet users reading blogs. Another benefit for brands is that companies who blog receive 97% more inbound links than those who don t on average. FIRST PARAGRAPH TITLE RELEVANT IMAGE myclevertip: If your company can leverage reviews then reaching out to influential bloggers could have an impact on your business, as 61% of US customers have made a purchase after reading a blog post. 1st Paragraph Blog posts should aim to be at least 500 words, as longer blogs tend to receive more back links. While aiming to post at least once a day you re more likely to receive 5 times the amount of visits than posting once a week. Whilst posting once a day can result in more visits, Monday mornings are an optimum time for high site traffic. While posts published on a Thursday tend to receive more shares. WORD COUNT Body Copy CALL TO ACTION Topical and promotional posts can receive a high level of visitors, however, this is short lived, with knowledge posts gaining more traction, yet even they can have a short shelf life. Instructional posts are the most popular by far with millions of people everyday trawling the web searching for answers. LINKS Call to action myclevertip: Create a content calendar so you can plan for key events. However also aim to regularly blog in real-time to keep your brand in the know! Links Share SHARE ON SOCIAL comments

7 Instagram Instagram has 200m active monthly users with 60m photos shared everyday. When uploading a post to Instagram it s important to take advantage of hashtags. Using hashtags mean people will be able to find your post easier, this will help to engage with existing followers while growing a larger fan base. Webstagram have reported some of the most popular hashtags used such as #love with 546,312,756 posts, #follow with 208,003,100 posts and #photooftheday with 189,818,506 posts. EDITING RULE OF THIRDS VIDEO myclevertip: It s good to use popular hashtags, however, make sure you re using tags that have relevance to your audience. You can find the right hashtags for your brand by completing keyword research. CAPTIONS DESCRIPTION. comments Instagram gives you the ability to upload images and videos whilst applying a filter to your upload for effect. Recent statistics have found that Mayfair, Inkwell and no filter at all have resulted in the most engagement. USE HASHTAGS myclevertip: Try using a tool to monitor the performance of your account and posts such as Piqora, Followgram and Statigram. REPLY Like. comment. TWEET Instagram ads use sponsored labels, these target users by their own posts along with analysing their interests and demographics found on Instagram s parent company Facebook.

8 Vine HASHTAGS FIND YOUR STYLE Incredibly Vine was developed in June 2012 and acquired by Twitter just 4 months later in October. DESCRIPTION The 6 second video loop platform gained 1m users within its first 3 months and has continued to grow at an extraordinary rate. Brands have began to understand the importance of using Vine with big names such as Taco Bell, Nike and Coca Cola implementing it within their social strategies. There are a number of creative ways Vine posts can be used such as news reporting, how to videos, 3rd party apps and for comedic reasons, which many celebrities have taken to the platform for. INFINITE LOOP BE STILL myclevertip: Take advantage of the infinite loop feature. Throw in your brand logo or message and you have a way of advertising your brand over and over again. Creativity is king and the best Vines often stretch the limits of imagination and achieve results that will leave you thinking How did they do that? BE WISE BACKGROUND NOISE myclevertip: If you are serious about utilising the brand into your marketing strategy then you need the right equipment. Invest in a tripod, lighting and a backdrop. RE-VINE Like its parent company the platform integrated hashtags into its posts to make it easier for users to find the content they wanted and of course, for brands to make their posts more viral. 9 Pinterest Pinterest launched in 2010 and now has 70m users. NO HUMAN FACES PIN IT LIKE The online bulletin board allows you to share items that you ve uploaded yourself or found around the web. LITTLE BACKGROUND The platform is most popular with visual elements such as food, crafts, hobbies, fashion, design and travel. A number of successful brands feature on Pinterest including Nordstrom, Ben & Jerry s and Sharpie. Pinterest is great for product referral as 80% of all pins are repins. As a result, 69% of online consumers who have visited Pinterest have made a purchase. MULTIPLE COLOURS LOTS OF RED myclevertip: Consider Pinterest as an extended platform to your website by adding a pin button next to your products for extra visibility. There are a number of ways to drive more engagement to a Pinterest board such as competitions, promotions and Pinterest contributions from influential bloggers. LIGHT AND COLOUR PORTRAIT STYLE Like many other platforms Pinterest uses hashtags to help identify content. Pinterest users are constantly searching for new ideas and inspiration therefore using the right hashtags can be valuable to your brand. comments myclevertip: Along with images try pinning videos, these can be useful for how to guides and webinars.

10 YouTube YouTube receives more than 1 billion unique visitors each month, with over 6 billion hours of video watched every minute. TITLE CATCHY TITLE Some of the top brands on YouTube include RedBull, GoPro and PlayStation with the likes of Nike Football and Lego becoming the fastest growing brands on YouTube. UPLOADING Many brands have 10+ channels on YouTube to cater for their different audiences, with a strong correlation between the number of videos uploaded and a large viewership. However this does not mean that more channels correlate to more viewers. DESCRIPTION myclevertip: Start with one channel and expand into multiple channels only if required and you have the resources to do so, as it s important to keep all equally active, which many brands find hard to do. CALL TO ACTION Description YouTube tends to have a longer shelf life compared to other platforms, as on average 30% of total video views are still being gained weeks after upload. YouTube video can be used for a number of reasons, for example advertisements, tutorials, interviews, events, parody s and gameplay. Small tricks like naming the file with the video title before uploading can go a long way in the optimisation of your brand channel. comments

11 TAG BRANDS AND PEOPLE Google+ TRENDING TOPICS The platform with 359m monthly users allows you to create a company and personal profile, join circles, communities and hangouts. UTILISE HASHTAGS STATUS UPDATE HOT Brands such as H&M, BMW, Burberry, Cadbury and British Airways are some of the few who are winning on the platform. #HASHTAG Photos are the most engaging type of content on social and Google+ s large format image first display lends itself perfectly to those who are keen enough to take advantage of this. myclevertip: Make the most of headlines to make your Google+ posts stand out from the crowd as the platform uses the first words of your post in Google search results. USE IMAGES With a direct link to YouTube and the ability to build conversations directly in search results the potential traffic channels for people who engage with you through Google+ are multiplied. myclevertip: By utilising circles within your share settings, users will receive a notification that you have shared something directly with them and can greatly increase the engagement on a post. +1. share comments Google have recently introduced Google My Business, a dashboard that allows you to keep all your business information up to date across Google and it s different services. 12 Tumblr KNOW YOUR POST TYPES Tumblr launched in 2007 and was bought by Yahoo in Now with over 199.1m Tumblr visitors every month, the site receives on average 120,000 daily sign ups. FOLLOW PEOPLE Tumblr is known as a micro-blogging site. This can be best described as a blog that sits between the length of a Twitter post and a conventional blog post. Some of the best brands using the blogging platform include Comedy Central, Calvin Klein and Glamour. myclevertip: For better engagement set up a group blog where others can contribute in topics and discussions. Involving influential bloggers can help with growing your following and increasing reach. KNOW YOUR TUMBLR SPEAK CHOOSE A GOOD THEME Tumblr allows you to personalise your blog and upload posts in a number of formats including photo, audio, video, quotes and chats. Similar to twitter you can heart a post, re-blog and follow other Tumblr users. myclevertip: Just like Vine the focus is on delivering content creatively. More emphasis should be placed on creating original content that will continue to be associated with your brand when it is reblogged across other blogs. Try using custom theming and GIFs to make your posts more shareable. TAGGING NOTES tags Reblog LIKE LIKE & REBLOG Tumblr tags are used to identify the topic of your post. Some of the most popular tags include GIF, LOL, fashion and art.

13 Optimum timing for social posts BEST WORST It s all very well creating great content that resonates with your fans, but it is important it actually gets posted at a time your audience will be most likely to see it. BLOG POST 11AM 6AM Different platforms have difference audiences this means different ages, hobbies, genders and this can affect everything down to how long they spend on the platform to the time they re most active. We ve gathered the optimum times for each social site so you can make the hard work you put into your content worth it. It s important to note that times can depend on your audience, try monitoring with tools such as Facebook Insights and testing posts to see what works well.
