REFUND OF FRENCH TVA (VAT) Current regulations : Since the entering into force of the VAT package on January 1st, 2011 concerning trade show services, the applicable VAT rules have been changed. Nevertheless the French Tax Authorities consider (instruction 3 A-2-11 of March28th, 2011) that space rental during a trade show is a land related service and therefore taxable in France. Thus, certain services, including services supplied by the organiser of the trade show, are still invoiced with French VAT : rental of non-equipped spaces, participation/admission fees, parking, technical services (electricity, stand cleaning ), catering, restaurant expenses Foreign companies, based in or outside the European Union and which are taxable persons, may under certain conditions obtain the refund of the VAT. VAT is refunded on all kind of expenses except on the following : accommodation (hotel, apartment rental) for employees of your company and transport of persons (taxi, car rental, petrol, train, plane).
